We would like to thank you for buying this machine and wish you a lot of fun with your new Graef milk frother.

INFORMATION ON THESE OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

These operating instructions are an integral part of the milk frother (in the following referred to as unit) and provide you with important information about initial operation, commissioning, security, intended use and care of the unit.

The operating instructions shall have to be available at the unit at all times. The instructions have to be read and applied by every person who deals with:

  • Putting into operation,
  • Operation,
  • Fault correction and/or
  • Cleaning

Keep these operating instructions and pass them on to the next owner along with the unit.

These operating instructions cannot take into consideration every conceivable use. For further information or in case of problems which are not dealt with or not dealt with sufficiently in these instructions, please get in touch with Graef customer service or your specialist dealers.

GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

This unit is in conformity with the safety instructions mentioned hereinbefore. However, incorrect handling may lead to personal injury and material damage.

For safe handling of this unit, please observe the following safety instructions:

  • Before using this unit for the first time, check it for visible outer damages on the housing, charging unit and plug. Do not operate a damaged unit.
  • This product contains a rechargeable lithium-ion batterpack which must not be removed from the unit for charging. The battery pack in this unit can be replaced.
  • Repairs must be carried out by an expert or by Graef after-sales service only. Incorrect repairs may cause considerable hazards for the user. In addition, any claim under guarantee is forfeited.
  • Defective parts must be replaced by original spare parts only. It is only with these parts that the safety requirements are met.
  • This unit must not be used by children. Keep the unit and its connection cable away from children.
  • Children should be supervised in order to make sure that they do not play with this unit.
  • This unit can also be used by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and/or knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the unit in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
  • The unit is not intended to be used with an external timer or a separate remote control.
  • Make sure that the charging cable is laid securely, as the unit could fall off the work surface if the cable gets caught.
  • Make sure that the charging cable is not routed over hot surfaces or sharp edges.
  • Packaging materials must not be used for playing. There is a danger of suffocation.

- Always switch off the unit when not in use or unattended. If the unit is used with a charger, disconnect the charger from the power supply. The same applies before cleaning and maintaining the unit or when replacing accessories.

- Do not charge the unit if the charger or the mains plug is damaged.

  • Do not immerse the unit in water or other liquids.
  • Do not store the unit in direct sunlight or at high humidity.

- Immediately after use, clean all accessories coming into contact with foodstuffs.

  • In the event of improper use of the unit and accessories, the unit might be damaged and there is danger of injury.
  • In order to avoid electric shocks, never use the unit with wet hands or on a damp or wet surface.
  • Be especially careful when opening the cap; the contents in the unit tank can squirt out.

  • Never touch rotating parts of the unit.

  • Never leave the unit unsupervised during operation.

- Observe the min. and max. markings in the milk container. Fill the container only up to the MAX marking. If overfilled, liquid can leak out. If hot liquids have been filled in, there is a risk of burns if liquid escapes.

  • Do not switch on the unit until you have filled it with milk, eggs or food-stuffs for preparing dressings.
  • Let the unit cool down before cleaning. Switch it off before cleaning and pull the charger from the electric socket.
  • Do not use any aggressive or abrasive detergents and no solvents.
  • Do not scratch off stubborn soiling with hard objects.

HANDLING BATTERY PACKS

This unit has been equipped with a removable lithium-ion battery pack.

- The supply terminals must not be short-circuited.

- If a battery pack leaks, the liquid must not get into contact with the skin or eyes. If contact has been made, wash the affected area with plenty of water and seek medical advice.

  • The battery pack in the unit must be charged before use.
  • Use a charger with a USB-C connection to charge the unit.

WARNING

Improper handling of the battery pack can cause significant damage. The battery pack can explode.

  • Do not dispose the battery pack in fire.
  • Do not store in direct sunlight. Extreme temperatures affect the charging capacity of the battery pack.
  • Do not expose the battery pack to heat or fire, as it may explode.
  • Do not disassemble, open or crush the battery pack.
  • Avoid strong impacts or vibrations.
  • Do not dispose of used battery packs in your household waste. Bring the battery pack to a local recycling station. For further details, contact the local government authorities.

INTENDED USE

This unit is not intended for commercial use. The unit is intended exclusively for heating/frothing milk, for mixing eggs or making liquid dressings. Do not fill in other liquids or solid foods. Do not use the unit for other purposes.

This unit is intended for domestic and similar use, such as:

• Staff kitchens in shops and office
• In agricultural estates
- By guests in hotels, motels and other living quarters
• In bed and breakfast boarding houses

IMPORTANT!

Use only for applications akin to households!

Another or any exceeding use shall not be considered intended.

CAUTION

This unit can pose a hazard if not used properly.

  • Use the unit exclusively as intended.
  • Observe the procedures described in these operating instructions.

Claims of any kind caused by damage by unintended use shall be excluded.

The risk shall be borne solely by the user.

LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

All technical information, data and instructions for installation, operation and maintenance contained in these operating instructions correspond to the latest status at the time of printing and are based on our previous experience and knowledge to the best of our knowledge.

No claims may be derived from the particulars, illustrations and descriptions in these instructions.

The manufacturer shall not assume any liability for damage caused by:

• non-observation of the instructions
- unintended use
- incorrect repairs
• technical modifications
• use of unapproved spare parts

Translations shall be carried out to the best of knowledge. We shall not assume any liability for translation mistakes. The original German text only shall be binding.

UNPACKING

When unpacking the unit, proceed as follows:

  • Remove the unit from the box.
  • Remove the packaging parts.
  • Remove any stickers on the unit. Do not remove the type plate!

DISPOSAL OF THE PACKAGING

The packaging protects the unit against transport damage. The packaging materials are selected according to the environmental compatibility and disposal-related aspects and can therefore be recycled.

Returning the packaging to the material cycle saves raw materials and reduces the amount of waste. Dispose of the packaging material no longer needed at collection points for the "Green Dot" recycling system (in Germany).

DISPOSAL AND REMOVAL OF THE BATTERY PACK

  • The battery pack must be removed to dispose the unit.
  • Make sure that the battery pack is completely discharged. Check this by trying to switch on the unit.
  • If the battery is not fully discharged and an electrically conductive connection is made between the battery pack contacts, there is a risk of a short circuit.
  • In the event the unit is starting, let the unit run until it will switch off automatically. Try to switch on the unit again in order to verify that the battery pack is completely discharged. Repeat the entire process so long until the unit cannot be switched on any more.

• There is a small notch in the housing above the USB connection.

- Carefully apply a thin slot screwdriver and lift off the end cap.

  • Loosen the four screws on the top.
  • Turn the front cover slightly and pull it off.

- Pull the inner slide forwards so that the cover of the ON/OFF switch lifts up and can be removed.

  • Remove the silicone part under the cover.
  • Pull the slide out completely to the front.
  • Remove the screws on the back of the slide.
  • Release the two latches on the slide and remove the top.

- Carefully lift the battery pack upwards, disconnect the cable connector and remove the battery pack.

Battery packs must not be disposed of in household waste. Please take them to the designated collection point.

DISPOSAL OF THE UNIT

At the end of its service life, this product cannot be disposed of in normal domestic waste. The symbol on the product and in the operating instructions point out to this fact. Reuse the materials according to their marking. By reusing, recycling or otherwise recovering old appliances, you are making an important contribution to protecting our environment. Please ask your municipal administration for the disposal point.

REPLACEMENT OF THE BATTERY PACK

If you wish to replace the battery pack in the unit, please contact Graef Customer Service for a new battery pack.

REQUIREMENTS ON THE INSTALLATION LOCATION

For safe and fault free operation of the unit, the following requirements of the installation location have to be met:

- The unit has to be placed on a solid, flat, horizontal, and non-slipping surface with a sufficient weight-carrying capacity.

• Make sure that the unit cannot topple over.

- Choose the location in such a way that children cannot reach the charger.

  • Do not place the unit on or near hot surfaces such as hobs.
  • Never use the unit in the open, and store in a dry location.
  • Do not set up the unit in a hot, wet or moist environment.

PRIOR TO FIRST USE

Before using the unit for the first time, clean it as described in the Cleaning chapter.

COMMISSIONING

- Charge the unit. Use a charger with a USB-C connection for charging.

MAKING MILK FROTH

  • Place the glass container on the silicone coaster.
  • Place the motor body on the holding cover and then place the beater on the motor body.
  • Fill the container with milk. Observe the filling quantity information.
  • When frothing heated milk, make sure the maximum temperature of 65^ C is not exceeded. Good milk foam cannot be produced at higher temperatures.

IMPORTANT!

Frothed milk expands; if the filling level is too high it will overflow the tank.

Advice: Refine your milk foam by adding syrup (e.g. vanilla, hazelnut or caramel syrup). Especially when preparing latte macchiato, cappuccino or café au lait, coffee syrup provides a special aromatic taste.

Put the syrup into the container together with the milk.

DRESSING / WHIPPING EGGS

- Place the glass container on the silicone coaster.

- Place the motor body on the holding cover and then place the whisk on the motor body.

- Put the desired ingredients into the glass container.

- Press the control knob three or four times, depending on the desired speed.

- The unit starts and runs for as long as you wish. However, a maximum of 2 minutes.

Whipping eggs

- Put the eggs into the glass container. Maximum 4 eggs

- Press the control knob four times.

- The unit starts and runs for as long as you wish. However, a maximum of 2 minutes.

Depending on the ingredients and filling quantities used, it may be necessary to mix the ingredients without using the holding cover in order to achieve an optimum mixing result.

IMPORTANT!

Clean the container and whisk after each use.

CLEANING

- Remove the power plug.

- Clean the motor body using a damp cloth. You can use a mild detergent. Do not use any aggressive cleaning agents. Never immerse the motor body into water or any other liquids.

• After that, dry the motor body well.

- The beater, the whisk, the glass container incl. cover and the silicone coaster of the glass container can be put in the dishwasher for cleaning.

TWO-YEAR WARRANTY

As from the date of purchase we assume manufacturer warranty of twenty four months for defects which can be traced back to manufacturing and material defect. Your legal warranty claim in conformity with Section 437 et seq. of the German Civil Code (BGB) shall remain unaffected by this regulation. The warranty does not cover any damage which is caused by incorrect handling or use as well as defects which only slightly influence the function or the value of the unit. Moreover, transport damage insofar we are not responsible shall be excluded from the claims under guarantee. Warranty shall be ruled out for damage, the repair of which has not been carried out by us or one of our representations. In case of justified complaints, we shall repair the defective product or replace it by a product without defects at our discretion.
