Operating Instructions for the milk frother
PREFACE Dear Customer, You have made a good choice by buying this milk frother. You have purchased a recognised quality product. We would like to thank you for buying this machine and wish you a lot of fun with your new Graef milk frother. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS This device conforms to the relevant safety regulations. However, in- correct handling may lead to personal injury and material damage. For safe handling of the device, please observe the following safety instructions:
- Before using this device for the rst time, check it for visible outer damages on the housing, connection cable and plug. Do not ope- rate any defective device.
- Repairs of the device, e.g. replacing a damaged supply cable, must be carried out exclusively by a skilled person or by the Graef cus- tomer service. Incorrect repairs may cause considerable hazards for the user. In addition, in case of non-observation, the warranty claims will become void.
- Defective parts must be replaced by original spare parts only. It is only with these parts that the safety requirements are met.
- This appliance can also be used by children from 8 years age as well as by persons with limited physical, sensory or mental ability or with a lack of experience and/or knowledge if they are supervised or have been trained in using the appliance and have understood the dangers which may result from it. Cleaning and user maintenance must not be carried out by children, unless they are 8 years or older and are supervised.
- This appliance and its supply cable have to be kept away from child- ren under the age of 8 years, and it has to be ensured that they do not play with the appliance.
- The unit is not intended to be used with an external timer or a se- parate remove control.14
- This unit is suitable for use in the household and for similar ap- plications, for example in workers kitchens, in shops and ofces, in agricultural farms, in hotels, motels and other bed and breakfast guest houses and institutions.
- Always pull the supply cord from the electric socket using the con- nector plug, not on the supply cord itself.
- The electric safety of the unit is ensured only when it is connected to a socket with protective conductor. Operation on a socket wit- hout protective conductor is forbidden. If in doubt, let the house installation checked by a trained electrician. The manufacturer shall not assume responsibility for damage which has been caused by absent or interrupted protective conductor.
- Prior to connecting the unit, compare the details regarding voltage and frequency on the name plate with those of your electrical net- work. These details must correspond so that no damages occur to the unit.
- Do not use the unit if the mains cable or plug are damaged.
- Prior to using the appliance any further, have a new connection cable installed by the Graef customer service or by an authorised skilled person.
- Do not open the housing under any circumstances. If live connec- tions are touched or the electrical and mechanical construction are modied, there is the danger of electric shock.
- Never touch live parts. This might cause an electric shock or, in the worst case, lead to death.
- Never carry the unit by its power cable.
- Never transport the appliance while it is in operation.
- Never touch the plug with moist hands.
- Packaging materials must not be used for playing. There is a danger of suffocation.
- Observe the notes on the requirements regarding the installation location and the electrical connection of the unit in order to avoid personal and material damages.
- Be especially careful when opening the cap; the contents in the unit tank can squirt out.15
- Do not move the unit while it is switched on. While moving, hot liquid can escape from the unit.
- Do not use the stainless steel tank while on a hot plate or cooking plate. Use the stainless steel tank only in connection with the base station.
- Never touch rotating parts of the unit.
- Never leave the unit unsupervised during operation.
- Fill the unit only up to the MAX mark. If overlled, hot liquid can escape from the tank.
- Let the unit cool off before cleaning.
- Switch the unit off before cleaning and pull the power cord from the electric socket.
- Never immerse the base unit, the connection cable or the connec- tion plug into water or any other uid.
- Do not clean the base unit in the dishwasher. UNPACKING Proceed as follows to unpack the unit:
- Pull the unit out of the cardboard box.
- Remove all packaging and possible stickers on the unit (do not re- move the name plate).
REQUIREMENTS ON THE INSTALLATION LOCATION
For safe and fault-free operation of the unit, the following has to observed during installation:
- Use a rm, even, horizontal, non-slip and heat resistant surface with a sufcient load capacity.
- Select an installation location in such a way that children cannot reach any hot surfaces of the unit.
- The unit is not designed for installation in a wall or a built-in cup- board.
- Do not set up the unit in a hot, wet or moist environment.
- The power outlet must be easily accessible so that the power cable can be quickly removed in case of emergency.16
Before using the unit for the rst time, clean as described in the Cleaning chapter.
- Connect the unit to the power grid.
- Insert the blunger with spiral. (magnet down)
- Put the stainless steel tank on the base station and pour the milk into the stainless steel tank. Notice: Only pour the milk into the stainless steel tank, not into the base station. MAX mark is only for plunger without spiral.
- If the lling level of plunger with spiral is too high it will overow the tank.17
- Put the cap on the stainless steel tank.
- Press the upper but- ton to froth milk. The button illumina- tes red.
- The LED is illuminated as long as the unit is running.
- Open the cap after preparation has nished and pull it up.
- Take the stainless steel tank and pour or ladle the milk froth into a cup or glass.
- Rinse out the stainless steel tank once with clear water after use; then you can proceed.
- The heating element surface is subject to residual heat after use. HOT CHOCOLATE / INSTANT DRINKS ETC. Using the milk frother, you can also prepare, warm milk, hot choco- late (either cold or warm) as well as instant drinks.
- Insert the blunger without spiral.
- Add all ingredients to the stainless steel tank. Comply with the “max” mark.
- Either press the top button to prepare warm drinks or the lower button to prepare cold drinks.
- Rinse out the stainless steel tank once with clear water after use; then you can proceed. CLEANING
- Use a soft and moist cloth to clean the outer surfaces of the unit. Use a mild detergent in case of heavy soiling.
- Rinse out the stainless steel tank with hot water after use. If there is stubborn soiling in the inside of the stainless steel tank, wash it out18 with a soap solution and rinse thoroughly. Residues on the bottom of the tank can be removed using a sponge, a brush etc. Never put the base station into the dishwasher. Please ask your municipal administration for the disposal point. 2 YEAR WARRANTY As from the date of purchase we assume manufacturer warranty of twenty-four months for defects which can be traced back to manu- facturing and material defect. Your legal warranty claim in conformi- ty with Section 437 ff. of the German Civil Code (BGB) shall remain unaffected by this regulation. The guarantee does not cover any da- mage which is caused by incorrect handling or use as well as defects which only slightly inuence the function or the value of the unit. Moreover, transport damage provided we are not responsible shall be excluded from the claims under guarantee. Guarantee shall be ruled out for damage, the repair of which has not been carried out by us or one of our representations.
