MAINTENANCE AND CARE
De-Scaling The Programmable Coffee Maker
To guarantee that the Programmable Coffee Maker works correctly, you have to ensure that the machine is kept free of lime-scale. The optimum cycle is dependent on the hardness of the water which is different from country to country. We would advise de-scaling the machine after every 30 uses.
IMPORTANT: If you do not de-scale the Programmable Coffee Maker then this can lead to damage!
Regular de-scaling can increase the service life of the product and guarantees its faultless functionality. Furthermore, regular de-scaling will result in less steam forming, faster brewing times and energy savings.
Deposits should be removed with a commercially available de-scaling solution for coffee machines or with a solution of vinegar and water (20% vinegar and 80% water). When using commercially available de-scaling solutions ensure that these are suitable for use with heating elements made of copper as well as silicone materials. (Carefully check the specifications and dosage instructions of the manufacturer).
Fill the water tank (2) with descaling solution or a vinegar and water solution (do not fill above the MAX line) and place the shower head (5), filter holder (6), coffee filter (7) (without ground coffee) and the glass jug (9) into their intended positions in the appliance.
Brew the vinegar or descaling solution till the tank is empty.
ATTENTION! During the cleaning process more steam will occur than during the normal brewing. After dripping has stopped, pour the liquid completely out of the carafe. Let the coffee maker cool down for 10 minutes.
Then rinse the separate parts thoroughly with cold water
| and rinse the appliance by running through with cold, clear water at least twice. Prior to doing so ensure that all of the separate parts have been correctly reassembled in the Programmable Coffee Maker.Any other servicing should be performed by an authorized service facility. | |
| CLEANING THE SHOWER HEAD | The shower head (6) can be cleaned and de-scaled separately. In order to do so open the lid (3), the shower will come automatically upwards too. Release the shower head (5) from the shower body (4) by turning the rib the left side. Then you can pull away the set shower head. Clean the shower head (5) with a descaling solution. Subsequently rinse it thoroughly with clear water before putting the shower head carefully back.CAUTION: When cleaning the shower head do not use hard brushes or pointed or sharp objects because these may scratch or damage the surface.IMPORTANT: The warranty is voided if no de-scaling is carried out or this is not carried out in accordance with the operating instructions. |
| STORAGE | Always disconnect the Programmable Coffee Maker from the socket when it is not in use. |
