MANUALLY SWITCHING OFF THE COFFEE MAKER

The appliance can be switched off at any time using the ON/OFF button (3).

BEFORE USING THE COFFEE MAKER

Clean the appliance before using for the first time. Fully fill with water (up to the MAX level), allow it to perform a cycle (without coffee) and pour away the water. BREWING COFFEE – Open the hinged lid (2) of the water tank (1) and pour in the volume of water you need. Do not exceed the MAX level. Close the hinged lid (2). Note: You can also remove the water tank (1) to pour in more water or clean the appliance. CAUTION: Never use the appliance with an empty water tank or with warm water to speed up the preparation time. CAUTION: Only use coarsely-ground coffee. Finely-ground coffee can block the filter and create high pressure. – Place the infusion lid (6) onto the jug (5) (Fig. 1) and place it onto the warming plate (4) next to the water tank (1). – Press the ON button (3). – After a few minutes, water will begin to flow through the infusion lid (6) into the jug (5). – The cycle ends as soon as the water tank (1) is empty. Switch off the appliance and remove the jug (5) from the warming plate (4). Important note: Do not operate the appliance without water. – Lift up the infusion lid (6) and stir the coffee with a plastic spoon. CAUTION: Metal spoons can scratch or damage the glass pot and could break it. – Place the filter press unit (7) onto the pot (5). Do not press down on the filter yet. Allow the coffee to infuse for at least 4 minutes. (Fig. 2) – Hold the handle of the pot firmly and turn the pouring spout away from you. Only use the weight of your hand to exert gentle pressure onto the knob to push the filter straight down into the pot (5). (Fig. 3)6 BISTRO You will obtain the best results if you press down on the fil- ter rod slowly with minimal pressure. If the filter is blocked or if the filter rod cannot be pressed down easily, remove the rod from the pot (5), stir the coffee and then press it down again. CAUTION: You could break a damaged pot by applying excess pressure, allowing hot water to gush out of the pot. – Take the filter unit (7) apart and clean after every use. All parts are dishwasher-proof.

Important: The appliance can become seriously damaged if you do not descale it! Remove deposits with a conventional product for use with kitchen appliances (follow the instructions carefully) or with citric acid dissolved in half a litre of lukewarm water. Fill the water tank (1) with the solution and place the jug (5) with the infusion lid (6) at the correct position under the valve. Allow the contents of the tank to flow fully through the appliance.
