Machine-specific safety instructions

⚠ WARNING: Read all notes and instructions on safety. Failure to observe any of the notes and instructions on safety may result in an electric shock, fire and/or serious injury.

Make sure that you keep all notes and instructions on safety for future reference.

To be able to use the machine safely it is essential that you read the operating instructions and the safety instructions thoroughly and comply with all of them. The machine is to be used only by persons who have read the operating instructions and who are acquainted with the occupational safety and accident prevention regulations in force in your country.

⚠ In addition, you must also comply with the general safety instructions also included with the machine.

▶ Do not use the device in any environments with potentially explosive atmospheres. Do not mix any readily flammable solvents or solvent-containing substances with a flash point of below 21^ C.

▶ Take care to ensure that no liquid splashes against the motor housing and keep it away from the rain – risk of electric shock!

▶ Never clean the machine with water – risk of electric shock!

▶ Always hold the machine firmly with both hands when carrying out your work and make sure you have a secure footing.

▶ Before starting up, check that the mixing rod is securely attached and rotates without a hitch.

▶ Start up and run down the machine in the mixing container only. Ensure that the mixing container is stood in a firm and secure position.

▶ Do not reach into the mixing container with your hands or insert any other objects into it while mixing is in progress. Risk of crushing!

▶ Wait until the machine or tool comes to a complete standstill. Rotating tools can snag and cause injuries or damage.

▶ If the sound pressure level should exceed 85 dB (A) where you are working, use ear protection!

▶ We recommend that you wear work gloves and protective goggles when using the mixer. Regulations require that you wear close-fitting clothing.

▶ To protect yourself from harmful dust when mixing, wear a dust mask. Some mineral materials are deemed to be carcinogenic. Use a dust extractor wherever possible.

Special safety instructions for cordless machines:

▶ Protect battery packs from moisture!

▶ Do not expose battery packs to fire!

▶ Do not use defective or deformed battery packs!

▶ Do not open battery packs!

▶ Do not touch or short-circuit the battery packs' contacts!

▶ A slightly acidic, flammable liquid may escape from defective Li-ion battery packs!

▶ If battery fluid escapes and comes into contact with the skin, rinse immediately with plenty of water. If battery fluid comes into contact with the eyes, rinse thoroughly with clean water and seek immediate medical attention!

▶ Transporting Li-ion battery packs:

The shipment of Li-ion battery packs is subject to hazardous goods legislation (UN 3480 and UN 3481). Clarify the currently valid regulations when sending Li-ion battery packs. Ask your transport company for information if necessary.

▶ Only send battery packs if the housing is undamaged and no fluid is escaping. Remove the battery pack from the machine for shipping purposes. Protect the contacts against short-circuit (e.g. insulate with adhesive tape).

▶ Remove the battery from the power tool before transporting, storing or performing any work on the power tool (e.g. maintenance, tool change, etc.).

The machine is designed for mixing liquid and powder-based building products such as paints, mortar, adhesives, plaster and similar substances. Use the right mixing tool for the consistency of the material and the quantity to be mixed.

Please refer to the information in the technical data when choosing the size of mixing tool (diameter/mixing action). If the wrong mixing action or mixing tool diameter is selected, this may cause the machine/gear unit to become overloaded and lead to damage as a result. Please remember that a mixing tool with a mixing action from the top down puts a greater strain on the electrical tool than one with the reverse mixing action.

This electrical tool is not designed for use in continuous operation.

Given the high torque levels generated by the machine, it must not be used as a power drill.

The machine must not be used for the preparation of foodstuffs.

The machine is not suitable for mixing materials containing graphite dust, brine or slurry. Mixing of these materials or substances may damage the machine beyond repair.

Assembly

Screw the HEXAFIX coupling enclosed with the packaging onto the agitator shaft's 5/8" external thread.

Insert the mixer with HEXAFIX holder shaft into the coupling until it snaps into place.

To remove or change the mixer, just pull the sleeve on the coupling and the mixer will be released.

Keep the HEXAFIX coupling clean and grease it from time to time. This maintains its functionality.

Operation

Always hold the machine with two hands.

Switching on

Press the button for the switch-on lock (1). The switch is unlocked.

Press the ON / OFF button (2).

The more firmly the ON / OFF switch is pressed, the faster the machine runs.

The ON / OFF switch cannot be locked!

It is best to work with the

ON / OFF switch fully depressed at all times.

Switching off

Release the ON / OFF switch to finish the work.

Prevent accidental start-up: always switch the machine off if the battery pack is removed from the machine.

Work at a reduced speed when immersing the machine into or removing it from the mix. Once the machine has been fully immersed, increase the speed to the maximum so that sufficient motor cooling is guaranteed.

Guide the machine through the mixing vessel during the mixing process. Mix until all the mix has been completely worked through. Observe the material manufacturer's processing instructions.

The tougher the mixture, the higher the torque forces acting on the machine; prepare yourself for this during work.

Recoil may occur if the running mixer comes into contact with a surface (e.g. base of the bucket).

Battery pack

Charge the battery pack before use. Recharge the battery pack if the performance drops.

The ideal storage temperature is between 10^ C and 30^ C.

If the battery capacity has been depleted, the machine remains at a standstill. Re-insert a fully charged battery.

"Li-Power" Li-ion battery packs have a capacity and signal indicator (11):

Press the button (10) and the charge status is indicated using the LED lights.

If an LED light flashes, the battery pack is almost flat and must be recharged.

Removing / inserting the battery pack

Removing: Press the button for the battery pack unlocking mechanism (3) and pull the battery pack (6) forwards and out.

Inserting: Slide the battery pack (6) on until it snaps into place.

Fault:

Overload protection: The machine was switched off automatically. The device is too hot!

Leave the machine idling until it has cooled down.

Care and maintenance

Remove the battery from the power tool before transporting, storing or performing any work on the power tool (e.g. maintenance, tool change, etc.). There is a risk of injury if the ON / OFF switch is pressed accidentally.

Clean the machine and the mixing tool immediately after use. We recommend that you use the Collomix MIXER CLEAN cleaning bucket for cleaning.
