Frequently Asked Questions - ProMax Pressure Well Automatic 6000/8 OASE

How to install the pump in a well?
Attach a double-knot fixing cable to the ring and lower the pump into the well. At 1 m from the bottom, secure the pump with the cable. The suction strainer must be at least 150 mm below the water level. For depths >5 m, tie the power cable to the fixing cable every 5 m. Never carry the pump by the power cable.
How to connect the discharge hose?
Remove the cap from the discharge side connection (G1). Connect a hose with an inner diameter of 25 mm (1") using an adapter. Preferably use a quick coupler for easier connection. Make sure the hose is not kinked.
What to do if the pump does not start?
Check the power supply: fuse and socket. If the pump still does not start, check the overload protection device (overheating). Let the pump cool down and clean the suction opening. If the problem persists, contact Oase Customer Service.
What to do if the pump stops after a short time?
This may be due to overheating (the safety device has cut off the power). Clean the suction opening and let the pump cool down. Also check if the well is dry: wait for the water level to rise. The pump is protected against dry running.
How to clean the check valve?
Disassemble the discharge hose and the adapter. Remove the screws and the cover (caution: the ball of the exhaust valve may fall out). Remove the check valve, rinse it thoroughly with clear water. Reassemble in reverse order. Before reinstalling, run the pump in clear water to remove sand residues.
How to store the pump for winter?
The pump is not frost-resistant. If frost is forecast, disassemble it. Empty the water from the pump, hoses, and fittings. Clean it thoroughly and check for damage. Store it dry and frost-free. Protect open plugs from moisture and dirt.
What types of water are allowed?
The device is designed for clear water or rainwater. It is not suitable for salt water, drinking water, or liquids containing chemicals, food, flammable or explosive substances. Do not use it in continuous operation (e.g., permanent circulation).
What is the maximum immersion depth?
The maximum immersion depth is 20 meters. Ensure the suction strainer remains at least 150 mm below the water level. For deep installations (>5 m), fasten the power cable to the fixing cable to avoid tension.
How to start the pump?
Plug the mains plug into a socket protected by a 30 mA residual current circuit breaker. The pump starts automatically when the pressure in the discharge pipe drops below 3.5 bar. It stops automatically when there is no more draw and the maximum pressure is reached.
What to do in case of sandy water?
If sandy water (new well) is pumped, sand can block the check valve or impeller. Let the pump run continuously for about 1 hour until the water is clear. If sand persists, clean the check valve and rinse the pump horizontally with clear water.

INSTALLATION AND CONNECTION Connecting the pressure hose

An optimum flow rate is achieved with a hose inside diameter of 25 mm (1").

How to proceed:

□ B

  1. Remove the protection cap.
  2. Connect the pressure hose and adapter to the connection on the pressure side.
  3. Recommendation: Use a quick-release coupling.

Installing the pump in a bored well or shaft

□ C

  • Attach the fixing rope with a double knot to the lugs and lower the pump into the bored well or shaft.
  • Use the fixing rope to fix the pump at a height of at least 1 m above the bottom of the well or shaft.
  • This prevents it from drawing in dirt particles.
  • Ensure that the screen on the suction side is at least 150 mm below the surface of the water.
  • Do not carry the pump by its power connection cable.
  • From a well or shaft depth of 5 m, fix the power connection cable to the fixing rope at a distance of 5 m from the pump (strain relief).

Vertical installation of the pump with the stand

(Only ProMax Pressure Automatic 5500/5, 6000/8)

The pump can be vertically installed with the stand in a tank or well.

  • Ensure that the screen on the suction side is at least 150 mm below the surface of the water.
  • If the water contains sand and/or is soiled, install the pump in a raised position or use ProMax Floating Intake (57772).

How to proceed:

□D

  1. Push the mounting feet onto the stand.
  2. Undo the Allen screws until the opening of the stand is wide enough to fit onto the pump.
  3. Push the pump into the stand.
  4. Tighten the Allen screws until the pump is fixed in the stand.

Horizontal installation of the pump with the stand

(Only ProMax Pressure Automatic 5500/5, 6000/8)

The pump can be horizontally installed with the stand in a shallow tank or well.

  • The pump has to be aligned exactly horizontally.
  • Ensure that the water to be pumped does not contain any sand.

How to proceed:

□ E

  1. Remove the Allen screws.
    – The stand consists of two sections.
  2. Push two mounting feet onto each stand section.
  3. Push three rubber pads each into the grooves of the opening of the stand sections.
  4. Fit rubber pads to both stand sections.
  5. Push both stand sections onto the pump.
  6. The stand sections should be spaced as far apart as possible to ensure the stability of the pump.

OPERATION

The pump control system switches the pump on and off automatically.

  • The pump control system (flow control) measures the flow and switches the pump off if the water flow stops.
  • The pump switches off when there is insufficient water, protecting it from being damaged by running dry.
  • The integrated non-return valve prevents water from flowing back into the pump from the pressure hose when it is switched off. The non-return valve also prevents damage to the pump resulting from water hammer.

Starting up the pump

OASE ProMax Pressure Well Automatic 6000/8 - Starting up the pump - 1

WARNING

Dangerous electrical voltage!

Death or severe injury from electrocution.

  • Only connect the pump to the power supply when there are no persons in or reaching into the water.
  • Before stepping into or reaching into the water, switch off all units located in the water.

  • Insert the power plug into the socket.
    – The pump is ready for operation.

  • The pump switches on automatically when water is used and the pressure in the pressure line falls below 3.5 bar.
  • The pump switches off automatically when no more water is used and the maximum pressure in the pressure line is reached.

OASE ProMax Pressure Well Automatic 6000/8 - Death or severe injury from electrocution. - 1

NOTE

If the water is sandy (e.g. in a new fountain) and the unit is operated for a short time only, sand may accumulate in the pump, causing the non-return valve or running unit to jam.

- Allow the pump to run for approx. 1 hour without interruptions until the sandy water has been removed completely.

Taking the pump out of operation

- Disconnect the power plug.
