How to detect live cables with the PS 85?
Use the Object detection mode and select the appropriate wall type. Live cables are displayed in orange on the screen. Make sure the relative air humidity is below 50% for reliable detection.
What is the maximum detection depth?
The maximum detection depth in dry concrete is 200 mm. However, for reliable results on metal objects, the depth is limited to 85 mm.
How to replace the button cell (CR2032)?
Unscrew the screw of the button cell holder, remove the holder, replace the used battery with a new one observing the polarity (+ facing up), then reinsert the holder and tighten the screw.
What to do if the screen displays an error message?
Refer to the troubleshooting table in the instruction manual. If the problem persists, contact Hilti customer service.
How to transfer images to a PC?
Connect the device (turned off) to a PC via the USB cable, then turn it on. Open the 'Hilti PS 85' drive in the file explorer to copy the images. You can also use a microSD card.
What wall types are supported?
Adjustable wall types include: masonry/universal, concrete, drywall, perforated bricks, hollow bricks with oblong holes, and young concrete. Select the appropriate type for optimal measurements.
How to use the distance measurement mode?
In Distance measurement mode, the reference point is the upper notch. Move the device in a straight line along the wall; the distance from the start is displayed continuously.
How to clean the wall scanner?
First remove the battery. Clean the housing with a slightly damp cloth (no silicone). Gently brush the wheels and ventilation slots with a dry brush.
What precautions to take with the Li-Ion battery?
Use only Hilti batteries and chargers from the B12 series. Avoid extreme temperatures, do not open the battery and do not expose it to moisture. If damaged, contact customer service.
Does the device detect empty plastic pipes?
Yes, but it depends on the wall type and diameter. In dry concrete, empty plastic pipes with a diameter ≥ 20 mm are detectable. Smaller ones may not be displayed.
