USER MANUAL 5918 Cloer
Basic safety instructions The appliance is intended to be used in household only and using in: – staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments – in farm houses – by clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments – on bed and breakfast type environments. Have repairs of Cloer electronic appliances carried out only by authorized Cloer specialist dealers or by the Cloer customer service. Improper repairs can involve substantial dangers for the user. Furthermore, this will void your warranty claims. Only operate the appliance at household-usual power sockets. Check if the mains voltage stated on the type plate is up to that of your power supply network. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by Cloer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard. Pull power plug of the power socket – in case of a defect. – if the appliance is not used for a longer time. – before any cleaning. Only pull at the plug, never at the feed cable. Do not stretch the supply line too tightly, do not pull it over sharp edges, do not use it for carrying and protect it from heat (e.g. hot plate) Do not use the feed cable for carrying and protect it from heat (hotplate / open flame). This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children unless they are older than 8 and supervised. Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children less than 8 years. Do not leave children unattended to ensure they do not play with the appliance. Do not use the appliance in outdoor. Protect your appliance from humidity (splash water / rain). Let the appliance cool off before cleaning or stowing away. Do not immerse the appliance in water. The device may not be opened when it is in operation. Please avoid pouring water over the contact socket. If water accidentally reaches the contact socket, proceed as follows: Pull the power plug from the socket. Dry off the contact socket and the storage surface with an absorbent, dry kitchen towel. Plug the power plug in again. You can find notes for proper cleaning on page 10. ATTENTION: After use, the heating element of the device will still give off residual heat, risk of burns! Avoid injuries due to misuse of the device.

Preparation for use Remove all packaging elements and labels, but not the rating plate. Place the espresso maker on a dry, level, and non-slip surface. Make sure that the power cord never comes into contact with hot surfaces. Do not stretch the cord over corners and edges. Before initial use Clean the coffee pot, the filter insert, and the water tank under clear, warm water to remove any possible production residue. Make sure not to immerse the contact base or the water tank in water. For hygienic reasons, we recommend that you prepare and pour away a cup of espresso before making your first real cup of espresso. You can brew this trial espresso with the amount of coffee required to make 3 cups. Safety information The appliance meets the requirements of the applicable EC directives. The appliance is intended for in door use only. Use the espresso maker only with the provided contact base. Do not place the contact base and the coffee pot on a stove or gas flame. The contact base may only be operated when it is dry. Please make sure that water is never spilled on the contact base. If water is accidentally spilled onto the contact base, proceed as follows: – Unplug the unit from the wall socket. – Dry the contact base with an absorbent dry kitchen towel. – Dry the surface beneath the contact base. – Plug the unit into the wall socket again. CAUTION! The espresso maker becomes hot during operation. There is a hazard of burn injury! Avoid touching the surface of the appliance. Grab the espresso maker only by its insulated handle! Do not open the lid of the coffee pot during operation. Scalding may result from escaping steam! Wait until the boiling process is complete and the control lamp turns off. Do not remove the espresso maker from the contact base during brewing! Never try to remove or re-adjust the coffee pot and the water tank or perform similar operations during the operation of the espresso maker! Unplug the power cord immediately if the appliance, the rubber gasket or the electric cord has become damaged. Unplug the appliance after using it. Use only espresso coffee powder. CAUTION! Fill the water tank only with water and never with milk, sugar or other liquids or ingredients! Do not overfill the espresso maker. If the espresso maker is overfilled, boilling coffee may be ejected. ATTENTION! Always unplug appliance when not in use and before cleaning! Operation Fill water into the water tank up to the mark „4“. For a stronger espresso fill the water only up to mark „3“. Take the filter insert and fill it loosely with ground espresso powder. Smooth the espresso powder lightly over the edge, but do not press the espresso powder into the filter. Insert the filled filter insert into the water tank. Remove any powder residues from the edge so that the seal can close perfectly. Screw the top of the espresso maker onto the water container by placing the top of the espresso maker straight onto the water container and turning clockwise until the two arrows are aligned. Ensure that the containers are not tilted and that the pot is really tight, so that steam cannot escape. Now place the espresso pot on the contact socket. Plug the plug into the socket. Switch the espresso maker on. Do not open the lid during the brewing process. Risk of scalding! The espresso is ready when the control lamp goes out Pull the power plug out. Now you can serve the espresso. CAUTION! The housing of the espresso maker is hot! Grab the pot only by its handle! Before making more espresso, let the appliance cool off first. After that please clean the espresso maker according to clause cleaning. Then, proceed as described above.
EN10 Overheating protection device The espresso maker is equipped with a double- action overheating protection device. In the event that you accidentally operate the espresso maker without water or if the water level is too low, causing the water to evaporate during boiling, the device will automatically switch o for your safety. The device will be ready to operate once it has been lled with cold water. Cleaning Always unplug the appliance before cleaning it. Let the appliance cool off before cleaning it. Clean the coffee pot, filter inserts, and water tanks with hot water. By swaying the pin in the safety valve you prevent that the vave chokes. To make cleaning easier, you can also use a bottle brush. Make sure not to immerse the contact base or the water tank in water! Do not use any abrasives or cleaning sprays. Do not place the appliance in the dishwasher! Always let the appliance thoroughly dry, and disassemble the appliance before storing it. If the water tank has collected lime, use citric acid or vinegar to decalcify your espressomaker. Recipes Espresso on ice Ingredients per person: 1 Espresso 1-2 scoops of vanilla ice cream Sweetened cream Chocolate sprinkles Preparation: Cool a freshly made espresso in a water bath (use ice cubes if necessary). Fill the cooled espresso in glasses (up to 2/3), add 1 to 2 scoops (or tablespoons) of vanilla ice cream, and garnish with sweetened cream and chocolate sprinkles. Latte macchiato Ingredients per person: 1 Espresso 145 ml milk Cocoa powder Preparation: Heat up approx. 120 ml of milk per glass, and use part of the milk to make milk foam. Fill each glass with 25 ml of cold milk, and carefully add hot milk and milk foam. Pouring the espresso slowly through the milk foam creates three layers (milk, espresso, milk foam). To top your espresso off, garnish with cocoa powder. Espresso Orange Ingredients per person: 1 Espresso 2 TBSP orange juice 4 cl brandy 1 tsp sugar Milk foam Orange or cocoa powder Preparation: Stir the espresso, orange juice, brandy, and sugar into a cup. Top off the espresso with a crown of milk foam, and garnish with orange rind or cocoa powder. EN11 A lot of steam escapes from the pressure control valve The espresso powder was compressed too much and prevents the steam from permeting. The steam, therefore, escapes from the pressure control valve Let the appliance cool off, unplug it, and fill the filter insert with espresso again. Make sure the powder is not compressed Environmentally friendly disposal We use only environmentally friendly packaging for the transport of our appliances. Please recycle cardboard/paper and plastic packaging appropriately. CAUTION! Electrical appliances should not be disposed of with the household trash. Electrical appliances contain valuable raw materials. When an appliance is worn-out, please take it to a recognised recycling facility. Please consult the local authorities for information on recycling appliances. Customer service In the event that your Cloer appliance becomes defective, please contact your Cloer dealer or Cloer customer service department. Cloer electrical appliances comply with current EC guidelines and safety regulations. Conditions of warranty Cloer grants you, the private end user, a limited manufacturer’s warranty. Assuming careful handling and compliance with the operating instructions and safety notices, we will be obligated to replace the appliance at no cost, insofar as there are defects in material or workmanship. The repair will be eected by repairing or replacing defective components. Any parts replaced will become the property of Cloer. All further claims of any type, especially claims for indemnication, are not valid. This warranty does not aect any rights of the customer with respect to the sale of goods in accordance with the applicable national laws. The warranty period is 2 years starting from the date on which the product was rst purchased by an end consumer. The warranty period will not be extended or begin anew or in any other way be aected by the subsequent sale, repair or replacement of the product. This warranty is passed on to you by your retail dealer. In order to assert a warranty claim, please contact your dealer directly. Without the sales receipt, the repair will be carried out at your expense without asking. The warranty does not cover damages resulting from improper use, natural wear and tear, external inuences (e.g. damage from transport, shocks, jolts, heat, acids, etc.), insucient decalcifying * or unsuitable accessories. The warranty will be void if the appliance is used commercially, is opened or modied without authorisation or if unauthorised repairs are attempted. Also, the warranty does not apply to consum- able materials.
