Frequently Asked Questions - KN031KB Smile

How to check for gas leaks on the Smile KN031KB cooker?
Use soapy water (mixture of soap and warm water) on the connections and hose. Open the gas cylinder valve. If bubbles appear, there is a leak. Never use a naked flame. In case of a leak, turn off the gas and contact a professional.
What type of gas to use for this cooker?
This cooker is designed for LPG gas (butane or propane) at a pressure of 37 mbar. Check the label on the appliance to confirm the gas type.
How to clean the cooker burners?
Let the appliance cool down. Remove the caps and grids. Clean them with a soft cloth and mild detergent. Do not put them in the dishwasher. Dry thoroughly before reassembling.
Why is the flame yellow or unstable?
A yellow flame may indicate poor combustion. Make sure the burners are clean and the nozzles are not blocked. Check the gas pressure. If the problem persists, contact an approved service.
Can I use large pots on this cooker?
Use pots with a flat bottom and suitable size. The flame should not exceed the bottom of the pot. For best results, the pot diameter should match the burner size.
How to safely light the burners?
Make sure the knob corresponds to the desired burner. Turn the knob to the ignition position (usually marked with a spark symbol) while pressing if necessary. If the auto-ignition does not work, use a match with caution.
What to do in case of gas smell?
Immediately turn off the gas cylinder valve. Do not turn on any electrical appliance. Open windows to ventilate. Do not search for the leak with a flame. Leave the premises and call emergency services or a certified installer.
How to maintain the gas hose?
Periodically check the condition of the hose: it should not be cracked, bent, or damaged. Replace it every year or as recommended. Use a hose suitable for LPG. Make sure it is properly attached to the fittings.
Can the cooker be installed in a campervan?
Yes, because it operates on bottled LPG. However, installation must be carried out by a professional and comply with current safety standards for vehicles. Ensure adequate ventilation.
How to dispose of the cooker at end of life?
Do not throw it away with household waste. Take it to a collection point for waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE). Contact your town hall to find the nearest center.

  • Before installation, ensure that the local distribution conditions (type and pressure of gas) and the setting of the appliance are appropriate.
  • The setting conditions of this unit are indicated on the rating plate.
  • If gas escaping from a leaking gas cylinder valve catches fire, throw a wet blanket over the cylinder to cool it down.

It is forbidden to use a defective cylinder.

  • Independently carry out repairs outside the scope listed in the operating instructions.
  • Operate the kitchen in conditions that make it difficult to handle.

The packaging materials are recyclable.

  • The kitchen becomes hot during use. It is advisable to exercise caution when coming into contact with the components of the device.

3. INFORMATION ON CONNECTING THE DEVICE

GAS LINE CONNECTION:

Heat the gas supply line by immersing it in warm water for 1 minute. Once this time has elapsed, it will be possible to connect it to the gas cooker in such a way as to ensure that the cable is properly fixed. The other side of the gas line must be connected to the gas regulator.

All knobs must be in the OFF position and the (LPG) cylinder valve must be open. Use soap with a small amount of warm water to check for gas leaks. If there is a gas leak, soap bubbles/foam will appear. The gas connection should then be checked again and a specialised technical service called in.

USEFUL INFORMATION WHEN OPERATING THE COOKER

The surface of the cooker is covered with a protective material, so when using the cooker for the first time it is recommended that the burners are switched on to the maximum position for about 5 minutes.

  • Cookware being heated on the cooker must be flat or rotated to make the best use of the heat energy.
  • Use the correct setting positions for the cooker burners.
  • When you have finished using the cooker, allow the cooker surface and grates to cool down before cleaning with a damp cloth.
  • Once you have finished cleaning the cooker and the surface has dried, you can start cooking again.
  • In the case of coated stainless steel plates, the colour of the coating can change several times. This does not affect the operation of the unit.

BURNER KNOBS

The gas flow of the individual burners is opened and closed by means of the corresponding knobs.
- Before switching on the burner, make sure that the knob you want to activate corresponds to the burner you want to light. The knobs corresponding to a particular burner are located opposite the burner.

4. CORRECT FLAME SELECTION

  • The flame should not extend beyond the bottom of the vessel but should cover 2/3 of its surface. This use saves on gas consumption and counteracts dirty dishes.
  • The size of the flame depends on the position of the knob. Use the full flame until the food is boiling. For further cooking, it is better to use a sparing flame.

5. THE CORRECT CHOICE OF UTENSILS

  • Do not place misshapen or unstable cookware on the grate, as it may tip over and flood the burners.
  • Do not remove the grate or place dishes directly on the burners.
  • Reduce the flame or, if necessary, extinguish it completely before setting the dishes on the burners.
  • Keep the burners reasonably clean, as dirt adversely affects their functionality.
The flame underneath the cooker should not extend beyond the bottom of the cooker.
  • The cooking vessel should not be too high. Ideally, their height should correspond to 2/3 of the diameter of the pot.
  • Dishes should be clean and dry, as they then conduct and retain heat well.
