  • Introduction Congratulations on the purchase of your new device. With it, you have chosen a high quality product. During production, this equipment has been checked for quality and subjected to a nal inspection. The functionality of your equipment is therefore guaranteed. The operating instructions constitute part of this product. They contain important information on safety, use and disposal. Intended purpose The machine is intended for shredding brous or woody garden waste such as hedge and tree prunings, branches, bark or pine cones. Any other use not expressly approved in the present instruction manual can damage the machine and thus present a substantial risk for the user. The shredder must not become lled with stones, glass, metal, bones, plastics or fabric waste. This machine is not suitable for commercial use. The warranty is void in the case of commercial use.   • Continuous operation with intermittent loading (40-second loading - 60-second idling) ** The maximum thickness of branch that can be shredded depends on the type of wood and properties of the shred- ding material. The maximum choppable branch thick- ness for hard wood (e.g. oak/beech branches) is less than for soft wood (e.g. pine/spruce wood). Dry or gnarled wood also means a reduction in the thickness that can be shredded. Levels of noise were determined according to the norms and regulations in the decla- ration of conformity. Safety information This machine may cause serious injury if used improperly. Before working with the machine, care- fully read the operating instruc- tions and familiarise yourself with all the controls. Ask an expert for advice if you are unsure. Keep this manual in a safe place and pass it on to every subsequent user so that the information is available at all times.   • Children must never play with the device. Cleaning and user maintenance must not be car- ried out by children.
  • The machine must never be used if people – especially chil- dren – or pets are nearby.
  • Remember that the user is re- sponsible for accidents or haz- ards towards other people or their property. Preparation
  • Wear hearing protection and safety goggles. Wear these at all times while operating the machine. There is a risk of hear- ing damage and eye injuries.
  • Always wear sturdy shoes and full-length trousers during opera- tion of the machine. Do not op- erate the machine in bare feet or with open sandals. Avoid wearing clothing that is hanging loose or clothing with hanging ribbons or cords. These could get caught in the hopper and lead to serious injuries.
  • Only use the machine out in the open (i.e. not against a wall or other rigid object) and only while standing on a solid, level surface.
  • Do not use the machine on a paved surface or a gravel sur- face where the ejected material could cause injury.
  • Before putting into operation, always visually inspect the machine, the cutting tools, the screws of the cutting tools and other fastening materials to ensure they are secure, and that the housing is undamaged and the safety equipment and protective guards are in place. Damaged or worn parts are to be replaced as a set to ensure the machine remains balanced. Damaged or illegible stickers must be replaced.
  • Before putting the machine into operation, always visually check the connecting cable and exten- sion cable for signs of damage or ageing. If the connection cable is damaged during use, disconnect it immediately from the power supply. Do not touch the connection cable before it has been disconnected from the power supply. Do not use the machine if the connection cable is tangled, damaged or worn. Operation
  • Before turning on the machine, ensure that the hopper is empty.
  • Keep your head and body away from the feed opening.
  • Do not allow hands or other body parts or clothing to enter the hopper, or discharge chute, or to be in the vicinity of moving parts.
  • Ensure you are standing se- curely and do not lose your bal- ance. Avoid an abnormal work posture. Do not lean forward. When material is being fed in, never stand on a higher level than the base of the machine.
  • Ensure secure footing on slopes.
  • Walk at a steady pace, do not run.
  • Always stand outside the ejec- tion zone while operating the machine.25 GB MT ply and disconnect the machine from the mains supply before starting to clean it out. Ensure the motor is free of waste and other deposits to protect the motor from damage or the po- tential for re.
  • Do not operate the machine with damaged or defective safety equipment or protective guards, of if the safety equip- ment, e.g. the collection bag, are not in place.
  • Do not operate the machine with a damaged or worn out cable. Ensure that you do not connect a damaged cable to the power supply or touch a damaged cable before it has been disconnected from the power supply since damaged cables pose the risk of coming into contact with live parts.
  • Keep the extension cable away from dangerous moving parts to prevent damage to cables that can lead to contact with live parts.
  • Keep the ventilation holes free of waste and other deposits to protect the motor from damage or re.
  • Do not transport the machine while the motor is in operation.
  • Switch the machine off and pull out the mains plug. Make sure that all moving parts have come to a complete stop - before leaving the machine; - before clearing any blockages or cleaning out clogged ducts; - if the connection cable or ex- tension cable is damaged or entangled;
  • Do not use the machine in the rain and poor weather, espe- cially when there is a risk of lightning, to reduce the risk of lightning strikes. Only work in daylight or where there is suf- cient illumination.
  • If you are tired or lacking in concentration or have consumed alcohol or tablets, do not work with the machine. Always have a break on time. Work using common sense.
  • When feeding in material, pay special attention to ensure it does not contain any metal, stones, bottles, cans or other for- eign bodies.
  • If foreign bodies enter the cut- ting tools, or if the machine gen- erates unusual noises or vibrates unusually, immediately turn off the power supply and allow the machine to come to a standstill. Disconnect the machine from the mains supply and perform the following steps before switching the machine on again and oper- ating it: - check the machine for dam- age; - replace or repair all damaged parts; - check whether there are any loose parts and tighten as nec- essary.
  • Ensure the material being pro- cessed does not collect in the ejection zone; this could prevent proper ejection and lead to the material being thrown back out through the feed opening.
  • If the machine becomes clogged, turn off the power sup-26 GB MT - before checking, cleaning or working on the machine.
  • Do not tilt the machine while the motor is running.
  • Do not overload your machine. Only work within the power range indicated. Observe the maximum indicated branch thickness. Do not use your ma- chine for purposes for which it is not intended.
  • Only turn off the machine once the hopper is fully emptied otherwise the machine may be- come clogged and, under some circumstances, may not start again.
  • Do not use the machine if the switch cannot be turned on and off. Damaged switches must be replaced by our service centre.
  • Only use splash-proof extension cables approved for outdoor use. The wire cross-section of the 75m extension cable must total 2.5 mm

(H05RN-F). Always roll out the cable drum completely before use. Check the cable for damage.

  • Do not use the cable to pull the plug from the socket. Protect the cable from heat, oil and sharp edges. Maintenance and storage
  • Turn off the machine when stopping it for maintenance, inspection or storage purposes, or when replacing accessories, and pull out the mains plug and ensure all moving parts have come to a complete stop. Allow the machine to cool down be- fore maintenance, adjusting set- tings etc. Maintain the machine with care and keep it clean.
  • Store the machine in a dry place and out of reach of children.
  • Always allow the machine to cool down before storage.
  • When maintaining the shred- ding unit, be aware that it can always still move even if the power supply is switched off by the locking function or protec- tive equipment.
  • Replace worn or damaged parts in the interests of safety. Only use original parts and original accessories provided and rec- ommended by the manufacturer. Using externally produced parts results in the immediate loss of any warranty claim.
  • Never try to circumvent the lock- ing function of the protective equipment.
  • Do not try to repair the machine yourself unless you have profes- sional training. All work not mentioned in these instructions may only be performed by our service centre.
  • If the connection cable of this device is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or their customer service or by a similarly qualied person in order to avoid hazards.
  • Warning! Risk of injury by dangerous moving parts!
  • Ensure that you do not touch any of the dangerous mov- ing parts before you have unplugged the device from the mains supply, and that the dan- gerous moving parts have come to a complete standstill.27 GB MT Fastening the collection bag
  • Switch off the machine before attaching or removing the col- lection bag. Recommendation
  • The machine should be pow- ered by a residual current de- vice (RCD) with a rated residual current of no more than 30 mA.
  • Avoid operating the machine in poor weather conditions, espe- cially when there is a lightning hazard. Residual risks There will always be residual risks even if you operate this electrical tool according to the instructions. The following hazards may occur in connection with the type and de- sign of this power tool: a) hearing damage if suitable ear protection is not worn. b) eye damage if no suitable eye protection is worn. Warning! During operation, this power tool produces an electromagnetic eld. Under certain circumstances, this eld may negatively affect active or passive medical implants. In order to reduce the danger of serious or fa- tal injuries, users who wear medical implants must consult their doctor and the manu- facturer of the implant before operating the machine. Assembly Fitting the wheels and chassis Mounting the wheels one after another makes assembly easier. Fitting the wheels

1. Place the curved washer (13) on the

axle (11.1) with the curvature facing outwards.

2. Slide the axle (11.1) into the chassis

3. Place the bushing (14), which enables

the wheel to rotate freely, onto the axle with the curvature facing towards the chassis.

4. Insert the wheel (12) without wheel

cover (12.1) onto the bushing (14).

5. Screw the wheel in tightly using the

Allen key (8) and the screw and wash- er (15). Fix the axle for the screw connection using the angled Phillips Allen key (7) into the hole provided on the axle.

  • Suspend the collection bag (3) from the two collection bag xing points (6) on the right and left of the machine hous- ing. Switching on and off Make sure that the mains voltage matches the details on the type plate.

To switch the machine back on, turn the on/off switch back to “I”. Working instructions General working instructions When shredding, maintain enough distance from the machine as long branches can rebound when fed in. There is a risk of injury. Wear eye and hearing protection. Wear safety gloves. There is a risk of injury.

  • Fill the hopper with the material to be shredded. When feeding branches into the machine, hold them until they feed in automatically. The material is drawn in and shredded.
  • Be sure to keep to the infeed speed of the shredder and do not overload the machine.29 GB MT
  • To prevent clogging, alternate the shredding of branches with thin twigs and wilted garden waste that has been stored for several days.
  • Remove soil and stones from roots before shredding to prevent the blades becoming blunt sooner than necessary.
  • Do not shred soft, damp material such as kitchen waste. Compost it instead.
  • Pick up a few dry branches at the end and use them to help clean the ma- chine.
  • Only switch off the machine when all shredded material has passed through the blade area. Otherwise, the blade may become blocked when restarting. Removing blockages Before any maintenance or clean- ing work, turn the machine off, pull out the mains plug and wait for the blades to stop. There is a risk to life and limb through electric shock, re and rotating blades.
  • Ensure that the power cable (5) is disconnected from the mains supply.
  • Release the housing lock (9).
  • Tilt the front section of the shredder’s housing forwards. You can also completely remove the front section of the housing and place it aside. To do so, loosen the housing lock (9) and remove the front section of the housing upwards vertically.
  • This gives you free access to the blades (17). Wear safety gloves. There is a risk of injury.
  • You can now remove the blockage in the machine. The machine features a safety switch. The housing lock has to be tightened again by hand as otherwise the machine will not be able to be started later. Maintenanceand cleaning Have any work that is not described in these instruc- tions performed by an au- thorised customer service centre. Only use original parts. Wear gloves when handling the blade. There is a risk of injury. Before any maintenance or clean- ing work, turn the machine off, pull out the mains plug and wait for the blade to stop. There is a risk to life and limb through electric shock, re and rotating blades. General cleaning and maintenance work Do not spray down the shredder with water. Danger of electric shock!
  • Always keep the machine, wheels and ventilation holes clean. Use a brush or cloth for cleaning, but do not use any cleaning agents or solvents.
  • Check the machine, especially the pro- tective equipment, before each use for damage such as loose, worn or dam- aged parts. Ensure that all nuts, bolts and screws are rmly in place.30 GB MT
  • Check the covers and protective devic- es for damage and correct t. Replace these if necessary.
  • Store the machine in a dry place out of reach of children. Do not enclose the machine in nylon sacks as this may cause moisture to form. Turning or replacing blades Before any maintenance or clean- ing work, turn the machine off, pull out the mains plug and wait for the blades to stop. There is a risk to life and limb through electric shock, re and rotating blades.

1. Ensure that the power cable (5) is dis-

connected from the mains supply.

2. Release the housing lock (9).

3. Tilt the front section of the shredder’s

housing forwards. You can completely remove it and place it aside to give you free access to the blades (17). To do so, loosen the housing lock (9) and remove the front section of the housing upwards vertically.

4. Unscrew the two screws (22) from the

blade cover (21) and remove the blade cover (21).

5. Block the blade plate (18) such as

with a screwdriver (not included in the scope of delivery). Guide the screwdriver through the ac- cess hole (19) and carefully rotate the blade plate (18) until you reach one of the two blocking openings. You can now guide the screwdriver through the blade plate (18) to block it.

6. You can use the Allen key (8) to loosen

the two screws (20) and remove the blade (17). The blades have two cutting edges, which can be turned around. Always replace and turn the blades in pairs. Do not attempt to sharpen the blades! Spare parts are available from our online shop (see “Spare parts/ Accessories”).

7. When mounting the blade, please be

sure to use only new screws and fasten them with 16 Nm of torque us- ing a torque wrench.

8. Install the blade cover (21) and the

housing in reverse order. The machine features a safe- ty switch. The housing lock has to be tightened again by hand as otherwise the machine will not be able to be started later. Storage

  • Store the machine in a dry place out of reach of children.
  • Give the machine time to cool off before you store the machine in an en- closed space. We are not liable for damages caused by our machine. Please retain the original receipt. This document is required as proof of purchase. If a material or manufacturing defect occurs within three years of the date of purchase of this product, we will repair or replace – at our choice – the product for you free of charge. This guarantee requires the defec- tive equipment and proof of purchase to be presented within the three-year period with a brief written description of what consti- tutes the defect and when it occurred. If the defect is covered by our guarantee, you will receive either the repaired product or a new product. No new guarantee pe- riod begins on repair or replacement of the product. Guarantee Period and Statutory Claims for Defects The guarantee period is not extended by the guarantee service. This also applies for replaced or repaired parts. Any damages and defects already present at the time of purchase must be reported immediately af- ter unpacking. Repairs arising after expiry of the guarantee period are chargeable. Guarantee Cover The equipment has been carefully pro- duced in accordance with strict quality guidelines and conscientiously checked prior to delivery. The guarantee applies for all material and manufacturing defects. This guarantee does not extend to cover product parts that are subject to normal wear and may there- fore be considered as wearing parts (e.g. blades) or to cover damage to breakable parts (e.g. switches, batteries). This guarantee shall be invalid if the product Disposal/environmental protection The device, accessories and packaging should be properly recycled. Electrical devices must not be dis- posed of with domestic waste. Directive 2012/19/EU on waste electrical and electronic equipment: Used electrical devices must be collected separately for disposal and recycled in an environmen- tally sound manner. Depending on the implementation in na- tional law, you may have the following options:

  • Hand over to an ofcial collection point,
  • Return to the manufacturer/distributor. We will dispose of any defective devic- es that you send to us free of charge. This does not affect accessories enclosed with the old devices or tools without any electrical components. Take the device to a recycling plant. The plastic and metal parts used on your de- vice can be properly sorted according to materials and grades and efciently recy- cled. Please contact our service centre for more information. Guarantee Dear Customer, This equipment is provided with a 3-year guarantee from the date of purchase. In case of defects, you have statutory rights against the seller of the product. We can handle only equipment that has been sent with adequate packaging and postage.
