USER MANUAL DK 1033 SEVERIN
Before using the appliance, read the following instructions carefully and keep this manual for future reference. The appliance must only be used by persons familiar with these instructions.
Connection to the mains supply
To avoid a power overload, do not use any additional electrical appliances on the same circuit.
Make sure that the supply voltage corresponds with the voltage marked on the rating label. This product complies with all binding CE labelling directives.

Important safety instructions
In order to avoid hazards, and to comply with safety requirements, repairs to this electrical appliance or its power cord must be carried out by our customer service. If repairs are needed, please send the appliance to our customer service department (see appendix). Before cleaning the appliance, ensure it is disconnected from the power supply and has cooled down completely. - To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not clean the appliance with liquids or immerse it. Clean the cooking surfaces with a damp cloth after each use. For detailed information on cleaning the appliance, please refer to
the section Cleaning and care.
- Caution: To avoid the risk of electric shock, the unit must be switched off and disconnected from the mains if the surface shows any sign of cracking or similar damage. The appliance is not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or separate remote-control system
- Do not place any metal objects (eg knives, forks or spoons) onto the cooking surfaces, as such objects may become hot. This appliance is intended for domestic or similar applications, such as the - staff kitchens in shops, offices and other similar working environments, - agricultural working
environments,
- by customers in hotels, motels etc. and similar accommodation,
- in bed-and breakfast type environments.
This appliance may be used by children (at least 8 years of age) and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lacking experience and knowledge, provided they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance and fully understand all dangers and safety precautions involved.
Children must not be permitted to play with the appliance. Children must not be permitted to carry out any cleaning or maintenance
work on the appliance unless they are supervised and at least 8 years of age.
The appliance and its power cord must be kept well away from children under 8 at all times.
- Caution: Keep any packaging materials well away from children - such materials are a potential source of danger, e.g. of suffocation.
- Every time the appliance is used, the main body including the power cord as well as any attachment fitted should be checked thoroughly for any defects. Should the appliance, for instance, have been dropped onto a hard surface, or if excessive force has been used to pull the power cord, it must no longer be used: even invisible damage may have adverse effects on the operational safety of the appliance. This unit must not be fitted into a countertop. People fitted with pacemakers should consult their doctors before using the appliance, as the pacemaker's function may be affected.
- This appliance should only be used with sufficient clearance from any objects that respond to magnetic fields (eg credit cards, cassettes, TV sets or radios).
- Do not leave the appliance unattended while in use.
- Do not position or operate the appliance
close to or underneath any wall-cupboards or hanging objects such as curtains or any other inflammable materials.
- During operation, the appliance must be placed, clear of any obstructions, on a level, non-metallic, heat-resistant surface, impervious to splashes, stains or hot steam. Always place the cookware in the centre of the chosen cooking surface. Ensure the cookware does not touch the plastic strip in the middle of the appliance! Always ensure that air is able to circulate freely underneath the unit. A minimum distance of 10 cm to any wall must also be observed. The ventilation slots on the unit must not be covered during use.
- Do not operate the unit, unless suitable cookware (with food in) has been put on the cooking surface. When an empty pot or pan is being heated, the overheat protection will automatically turn the appliance off. In this case, however, damage to cookware or the unit itself cannot be completely ruled out.
- Caution: With the heat emitted by the cookware, the ceramic glass surfaces may heat up. There is therefore a danger of burns.
- Caution: Food containing fat or oil may catch fire when over-heated.
- Do not attempt to move the unit while there is cookware on the ceramic surface.
- Do not pull or slide cookware over the control panel, and do not place any cookware on it.
Always remove the plug from the wall socket - after use, - in case of any malfunction, and also - before cleaning the appliance. - When removing the plug from the wall socket, never pull on the power cord; always grip the plug itself. Do not let the power cord hang free. The power cord must be kept well away from any hot part of the appliance. No responsibility will be accepted if damage results from improper use, or if these instructions are not complied with.
Start up
Before using the appliance for the first time, remove any remaining packaging and wipe the surface with a damp cloth.
Suitable cookware
This appliance must only be used with cookware suitable for use with induction-type hot-plates, eg stainless-steel with a ferro-magnetic base, or cast-iron or enamelled steel cookware. Cookware can be tested for its suitability by simply holding a magnet to the base; if the magnet is attracted, the cookware is suitable for use with this appliance. - Only flat-bottom pots and pans may be used. - Do not use any cookware with a base less than 2 mm thick. - Never use pots with a diameter greater than 22 cm and less than 18 cm . If unsuitable cookware is used, the appliance will respond with an error
message (see 'Troubleshooting' table).
- Coated pots and pans may be damaged by excessive heat. It is therefore important to select the appropriate temperature level for the cookware in use, and to follow the information provided by the cookware's manufacturer. A maximum load of 6 kg for either cooking plate must not be exceeded.
Setting the power output / temperature
This appliance may be operated by either of its control features, 'Power' or 'Temperature'. For heating water, steaming and similar cooking applications, we recommend using the 'Power' control. For frying, deep-frying and the like, the 'Temperature' control should be used.
Power
Press the operating key. The display shows the default setting, 5 (left cooking plate: 4). Using the + and - selection keys, the power setting can be adjusted from 1 to 10 as required (left plate from 1-7, right plate from 1-10).
Temperature
Press the operating key. The display shows the default setting, 120. Using the + and - selection keys, the required temperature level can be selected in steps of 20°C within a range from 60°C to 240°C.
Timer
The timer function allows for setting the intended cooking time. Once the desired function has been selected, press the operating key and then use the + and - selection keys to select the cooking time. Every press of the + key increases the cooking time by 5-minute intervals, while pressing the - key reduces the cooking time by 1 minute. The maximum timer setting is 180 minutes. Once the pre-programmed time has elapsed, a beep signal is heard and the appliance goes into stand-by mode.
If no timer setting is selected, cooking can only be interrupted by pressing the On/Stand-by switch.
Do not leave the appliance unattended while in use.
Function indicators
The function indicator shows which of the 'Power', 'Temperature' or 'Timer' functions has been selected.
Automatic recognition of suitable cookware
The appliance detects whether any cookware has been placed on the plate, and whether it is suitable for this appliance. If any function is selected with non-suitable cookware on the plate, a number of beeps will be heard, and the display will show the error message ---. After four beeps, the appliance goes into stand-by mode.
Residual heat indicator
In standby mode, any residual heat in the plate(s) is indicated on the display. If the temperature is below approx. 50°C, the indicator L shows in the display. For a residual heat exceeding approx. 50°C, the display shows H.
Operation
- Connect the unit to mains power. A beep signal is heard. The appliance is now in stand-by mode. The display shows the indicator L for low residual heat in the plate(s).
- Put the food into the pot or pan and put it on the cooking surface.
Always place the cookware in the centre of the chosen cooking surface. Ensure the cookware does not touch the plastic strip in the middle of the appliance!
- Use the On/Stand-by switch to turn the appliance on. A beep signal is heard and the function indicators for 'Power' and 'Temperature' starts flashing. If no input is registered within 30 seconds of switching on, the appliance returns into stand-by mode.
- Use the operating keys to select the required function. The appliance starts the heating process.
- Use the + and - selection keys to select the desired power setting or temperature level. If so desired, use the timer function to select the cooking time. Once cooking is finished, switch the
appliance off, let it cool down for 30 seconds and disconnect in from the mains.
Cleaning and care
- Before cleaning the appliance, ensure it is disconnected from the power supply and has cooled down completely.
- To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not clean the appliance with liquids or immerse it.
- Do not use abrasives or harsh cleaning solutions. After use, any spills can be removed from the cooking surfaces using a damp cloth and, if necessary, some detergent or a special scraper for ceramic surfaces. A special cleaning agent should be used to treat the plate from time to time.
Disposal

Devices marked with this symbol must be disposed of separately from your household waste, as
they contain valuable materials which can be recycled. Proper disposal protects the environment and human health. Your local authority or retailer can provide information on the matter.
Troubleshooting
In the case of problems, the following error messages may appear on the display:

Connection to the mains
To avoid overloading, do not connect additional electrical appliances to the same circuit as the appliance.
The mains voltage must correspond to the voltage indicated on the rating plate. This product complies with the requirements of the directives applicable to the CE marking.

Safety rules
- To avoid accidents and ensure compliance with safety regulations, repair of this electrical appliance should only be carried out by our service department. If repair is needed, please send the appliance to our department

Do not allow children to play with the appliance. - Children may only clean and maintain the appliance under supervision and if they are at least 8 years old. Never allow children to approach the appliance and the power cord.
- Warning. Keep packaging materials out of the reach of children, as they are a potential source of danger, for example, from suffocation. - Before each use, check the appliance, including the power cord and any additional parts if installed, for visible damage. If you drop the appliance on a hard surface or subject it to excessive force, or if the power cord is pulled, this appliance should no longer be used: even invisible damage can negatively affect the operational safety of the appliance. Do not place this appliance on the edge of a table.
- Users of this appliance with a pacemaker should consult their doctors, as this appliance may interfere with the operation of a pacemaker. - This appliance should be used at a sufficient distance from any objects that react to magnetic fields (for example, credit cards, cash, radios, radio receivers). Do not leave the appliance switched on unattended. Do not place the appliance or use it near flammable cabinets or under them, or under such
objects as curtains and other flammable materials.
During operation, the appliance must stand on a stable, heat-resistant surface that is resistant to splashes and hot steam. Always place the cookware in the center of the selected cooking zone. The bottom of the cookware must not touch the parts of the insert in the center of the appliance! Always ensure that air can circulate freely under the appliance. In addition, the appliance must be at a distance of at least 10 cm from the wall. During use of the appliance, its ventilation openings must be open. Do not switch on the appliance until you have placed suitable cookware (with food in it) on the cooking surface. When heating an empty pot or pan, the overheating protection system will automatically switch off the appliance. However, in this case, the possibility of damage to the cookware or the appliance itself cannot be completely excluded.
- Warning!
The glass-ceramic cooking surface can become very hot under the influence of heat emanating from the cookware.
You can get burned!
- Warning! Products
containing oil or fat may ignite if overheated.
Do not attempt to move the appliance together with the cookware over the ceramic cooking surface. Do not drag or move the cookware across the control panel and do not place any cookware on it. - Always remove the power plug from the socket:
- after use; - in case of malfunction; - before cleaning the appliance.
Never pull the plug out of the wall socket by the cord; always pull it by the plug itself. Do not allow the cord to hang freely. Make sure the cord is at a sufficient distance from the heating parts of the appliance. The manufacturer is not responsible for damage resulting from incorrect use or failure to follow the instructions in this manual.
Commissioning
Before using the appliance for the first time, remove any remaining packaging materials and wipe the surface of the appliance with a damp cloth.
Suitable cookware
The appliance is intended for use only with cookware suitable for induction hobs, for example, stainless steel with a ferromagnetic base, cast iron, or enameled steel. To check whether a pot is suitable for use on an induction hob, simply hold a magnet to its bottom: if the magnet sticks, it means that the cookware is suitable for use with this appliance. Only pots and pans with a flat bottom can be used. Do not use cookware with a bottom thickness of less than 2 mm. Use only pots with a diameter between 18 and 22 cm. If unsuitable cookware is used, the appliance will emit a signal (see the table "Troubleshooting"). Pots and pans with a coating may be damaged by excessive heat. For this reason, it is very important to select the heating level appropriate for the cookware used and to follow the manufacturer's instructions. The maximum load on each cooking zone must not exceed 6 kg.
Setting the temperature and output power
The appliance is switched on using the control knob. The "Power" function is recommended for boiling water, cooking in a pressure cooker, or for other similar applications. The "Temperature" function should be used for frying, cooking in a deep fryer, or for other similar applications.
Power
Press the control knob; the default power setting will appear on the display (for any cooking zone: 4). By pressing the "+" and "-" selection buttons, you can set the power level from 1 to 10, as needed (for any cooking zone from 1 to 7, for the steam zone from 1 to 10).
Temperature
Press the control knob; the default temperature setting will appear on the display: 120. Using the "+" and "-" selection buttons, you can set the desired heating temperature in the range from 60 °C to 240 °C in steps of 20 °C.
