There is a risk of scalding! ► The hotplate 7 under the coffee pot 6 is heated strongly during the brew- ing/keeping warm process. There is a risk of burns! CAUTION – PROPERTY DAMAGE! ► Never fill the water tank 0 to more than the total amount required for 10 cups (MAX marking). ► There is a water overflow 3 on the rear side of the appliance. This is a water overflow that prevents too much water from being poured into the appliance. If the water level exceeds the MAX mark, the water will escape through the water overflow 3 onto the worktop. ► If the appliance is moved with a full water tank 0 (10 cups of water), water may run out through the water overflow 3. ► Never fill the water tank 0 with less than 2 cups of water. Use the fill level indicator 4 on the water tank 0 for reference.

2) Rinse the coffee pot 6 thoroughly with water and place it in the appliance.

13) Place the filter basket q, permanent filter e and coffee pot 6 back in the

appliance. The appliance is now ready for use. Making coffee Adding ground coffee NOTE ► If you grind your coffee yourself, we recommend a medium grinding level. The finer the grounds, the more intense and bitter the coffee tastes; coarser the grounds, the more watery and acidic the coffee tastes. ► If you are using a finely ground coffee, the permanent filter e may become clogged, causing water to flow out of the filter basket q. ► You can also use the appliance without the permanent filter e and use a paper filter instead. To do this, simply place a folded-open paper filter (size 1 x 4) in the filter basket q.

1) Open the appliance lid.

2) Place the permanent filter e in the filter basket q and flip down the handle.

3) Use the measuring spoon w to add ground coffee to the appliance.

NOTE ► Add approximately one level measuring spoon w of ground coffee per cup of filter coffee. If the filter coffee is too strong, reduce the amount of ground coffee per cup. Filling the appliance with water WARNING - HEALTH HAZARD! ► Use only drinking water for your coffee! Always fill with fresh water just before use.

to the required amount of filter coffee. Use the fill level indicator 4 on the water tank 0 for reference. Close the appliance lid.■ 8

CAUTION - PROPERTY DAMAGE! Therefore, there will always be a little less coffee in the coffee pot 6 than the amount of water you have poured into the water tank 0. Starting the brewing process WARNING ► Hot steam escapes from the steam outlet openings 2 of the appliance lid! There is a risk of scalding! ► Never open the appliance lid while brewing is in progress! Bursts of hot steam may be released or hot water may spray out. Descaling Descale the appliance at regular intervals. NOTE ► Depending on the hardness of your water, the necessary descaling intervals may vary considerably. If your water is very hard, descaling is generally necessary after approximately 30 uses, while less hard water only requires you to descale your appliance after approximately 60 uses. Your local water supplier can tell you about the hardness of your water. Use only descaling agents that are specifically suitable for coffee machines and follow their usage instructions closely. Proceed as follows to descale:

1) Add the descaling agent to the water tank 0.

2) Add the amount of water as specified in the usage instructions for the descaling

agent, but do not exceed the MAX mark (10 cups) on the fill level indicator 4!

button 5 to start the brewing process. The button 5 lights up.

5) Wait until enough water for approximately 2 cups has run through the

machine, then stop the brewing process by pressing the button 5 again.

6) Allow the descaling agent to take effect for 15 minutes.

7) Repeat steps 4 to 6 twice.

8) Then start the brewing process and wait until the water has run through completely.

9) Allow the coffee machine to brew three times with the maximum amount of

clean water. After three brewing cycles, all residues of the descaling agents are removed and you can use your coffee machine again.GB

1) If you do not intend to use the appliance for long periods, ensure that no

coffee grounds remain in the appliance or the permanent filter e.

2) Clean the appliance again as described in “Cleaning and care”.

3) Push the cable into the cable storage compartment 8.

For storage, place the measuring spoon w in the coffee pot 6. Alternatively, hang the measuring spoon w from the side of the water tank 0 (see Fig. 3): A hook is integrated into the handle. Lightly press the measuring spoon w against the appliance to close the appliance lid by the handle 1. Fig. 3

5) Store the dry appliance in a clean and dust-free location.
