How to produce the vacuum using a packing bag:
Place the food to be packed inside the bag. Do not fill the bag to the limit; always leave a space of at least 5 cm.
Open the cover of the vacuum packing machine by pressing the two side buttons.
Insert the open top part of the bag into the vacuum chamber. To obtain good sealing, the bag must be free of creases.
Close the cover by pressing the two ends of the appliance downwards until the packing machine is firmly closed.
The packing machine will automatically initiate the vacuum function and the red LED will light up in the control panel.
The sealing function will then commence and the orange LED will light up in the control panel.
Finally, when the sealing band cools, the green LED will light up, indicating that the packing has finished and that the cover of the vacuum packing machine may be opened by pressing the two side buttons.
How to produce the vacuum using the packing rolls:
Cut to the desired size.
Make the seal at one of the ends to obtain a packing bag:
Open the cover of the vacuum packing machine by pressing the two side buttons.
Insert the open top part of the bag into the closure seal without allowing the bag to enter the vacuum chamber. To obtain good sealing, the bag

must be free of creases.
Close the cover by pressing the two ends of the appliance downwards until the packing machine is firmly closed.
The packing machine will automatically initiate the vacuum function and the red LED will light up in the control panel.
The sealing function will then commence and the orange LED will light up in the control panel.

To vacuum pack, follow the instructions above.
Once you hace finished using the appliance:
- Unplug the appliance to the mains.
- Put the cable back in the cable housing.
How to open the vacuum packed bags:
Cut the edges of the bag with scissors, just at the height of the seal.
Tips for making a better vacuum:
Do not fill the bag to the limit; always leave a space of at least 5 cm.
To obtain a good seal, the top of the bag must be clean and free of creases.
Do not wet the open end of the bag.
Do not leave too much air in the bag. Press on the bag so that the excess air can escape before vacuum packing.
Do not vacuum pack sharply pointed objects as they can puncture and tear the bag.
We recommend vacuum packing and sealing only one bag per minute to allow the appliance to recover sufficiently.
If for any reason the necessary vacuum is not obtained, the vacuum system will automatically disconnect after 45 seconds. In this case, check whether the bag has a leak or is not properly positioned.
Instructions on the vacuum bag
Vacuum packing for the refrigerator
Preparing food for the freezer:
The vacuum packing machine will help you to keep food fresh in optimum condition of preservation.
To vacuum pack very fragile foods (fruit, vegetables, boiled food, etc.).
We recommend pre-freezing in order to maintain its original form.
To vacuum pack non-frozen food, a distance of approx. 5 cm must be left in the length of the bag to allow it to expand during freezing.
It is advisable to wrap meat or fish in kitchen paper for vacuum packing it. This way, the kitchen paper will absorb the humidity in the food.
To pack foods like tortillas, crepes or hamburgers, spread the oven paper or aluminium foil* between them in order to place the pieces together.
This will make it easier to separate them later.
Preserving food:
Food deteriorates due to the chemical reactions produced on contact with air, temperature or humidity and the formation of microorganisms or contamination by insects.
The oxygen in the air is the principal element that causes loss of nutritional value, texture, taste and the quality of the food in general. The formation of microorganisms is principally associated with the air. Frozen food exposed to the air in the freezer deteriorates.
Vacuum packing extracts up to 90% of the air from the bag. Approximately 21% of the air is oxygen; therefore by extracting 90% of the air, only 2% or 3% residual oxygen remains in vacuum packed food. An oxygen level lower than 5% impedes the formation of most existing microorganisms.
In general there are three categories of microorganisms: the protozoa, fungi and bacteria which are always present but are only really problematical in certain conditions. Prepare your food beforehand for picnics and camping trips or barbecues.
In an atmosphere with little oxygen or an absence of humidity, fungi cannot develop. Fungi can develop with or without air in humidity, in sugar and in a moderate temperature. Refrigeration reduces the expansion of fungi and freezing stops it completely. Bacteria can develop with or without air. One of the most dangerous bacteria is clostridium botulinum, which develops in suitable airless conditions at temperatures ranging from 4°C to 46°C. It develops in conditions of an absence of acid in the food, a slightly oxygenous atmosphere and prolonged temperatures of more than 4°C.
Foods which are frozen, dried, rich in acids, salted and sugared resist botulinum. However, it is easy for botulinum to contaminate foods which do not contain acid, such as for example: meat, shellfish, pickled olives, poultry, fish, eggs and mushrooms. Foods with a medium level of acid are tomatoes, onions, chilli peppers, figs and cucumber.
The foods most susceptible to botulinum should be refrigerated to preserve them in the short term, frozen in the long term and consumed immediately after heating.
Some dried foods, such as flour and cereals may contain insect larvae.
If the vacuum is not sealed these may incubate during preservation and contaminate the food. Vacuum packed foods must be preserved to prevent weevils and other insects from incubating.
Avoid deterioration. Food must be preserved at low temperatures as microorganisms can develop without air.
If the temperature in the refrigerator is higher than 4^ C (for a prolonged period), this will contribute to the development of harmful microorganisms. The temperature must therefore be kept at 4^ C or lower.
The right temperature of the freezer for preserved foods is -17°C or lower: although freezing does not eliminate microorganisms, it does delay their development. Thanks to scientific studies and common sense, we can follow the rules below on safety of

food and drinks, in order to improve their safety and preservation.
To pack large quantities of meat, fish or other foods:
Before vacuum packing, wash your hands, the utensils and the surfaces to be used for cutting and packaging the food.
Immediately refrigerate or freeze perishable foods that you have vacuum packed. Never leave them exposed to the ambient temperature.
Vacuum packing dried foods such as nuts, coconut or preserved cereals in the kitchen or dark places will prolong their duration. Foods with a high fat content will deteriorate if they are exposed to oxygen or a high temperature.
Peeling some fruit and vegetables such as apples, bananas, plantains and tubers before vacuum packing will prolong their duration.
Vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower and fresh cabbage emit gases when vacuum packed for later refrigeration. Therefore it is advisable to cook and freeze these foods before vacuum packing.

Cleaning
Disconnect the appliance from the mains and let it cool before undertaking any cleaning task.
- Clean the equipment with a damp cloth with a few drops of washing-up liquid and then dry.
- Do not use solvents, or products with an acid or base pH such as bleach, or abrasive products, for cleaning
the appliance.
- Do not submerge the appliance in water or any other liquid, or place it under a running tap.
Cleaning the vacuum chamber:
Open the cover of the vacuum packing machine by pressing the two side buttons.
With a cloth or damped sponge and soap.
Troubleshooting
If nothing happens on pressurising the packing machine:
- Make sure the electrical cord is properly plugged into the mains.
- Check the cord and the mains socket and make sure these are not damaged in any way.
- If you find any damage do not use the packing machine.
The air has not been completely expelled from the bag:
- For correct packing the end of the bag must remain inside the vacuum chamber.
- Check for possible dirt on the sealing band or in the vacuum chamber. If there is any dirt, clean them and reposition them in their locations.
- The bag may be punctured. To check this, seal the bag with a little air inside, submerge it in water and apply pressure. If bubbles form, this means that there is a leak. Use another bag.
- Check that the cover is completely closed.

- Creases, crumbs, grease or liquids may be released from the sealed area. Before resealing, reopen the bag, clean the top part and smooth the area of the sealing band.
- Food with excess liquid may be frozen before vacuum packing.
- Check whether any article with sharp-pointed corners has been able to puncture the bag.
The sealing band does not seal the bag:
- If the sealing band reheats and melts the bag, lift the cover and allow the packing machine to cool for a few minutes.
- After 20 seconds have passed, try again.
