Frequently Asked Questions - ATS 80 HD Swarovski

How to attach the spotting scope to a tripod?
The tripod adapter is equipped with a 3/8" UNC thread. An integrated cover screw allows reducing the thread to 1/4" UNC for standard tripod heads. Tighten the clamping screw on the tripod collar to secure the device.
How to change the eyepiece?
To remove the eyepiece, pull down the locking device on the base body and turn the eyepiece to the left (counterclockwise). To install, align the marks and turn to the right until it locks.
How to adjust sharpness?
Use the focusing ring. For distant objects, turn to the right; for near objects, turn to the left. For precise focus, slightly turn the ring to the left then to the right until maximum sharpness is achieved.
How to use the sunshade?
The integrated, removable sunshade can be removed or installed by turning it slightly. It clicks into place. It protects the lens from side light and rain.
How to clean the lenses?
Use a special brush to remove large particles, then lightly moisten the surface with your breath and clean with a microfiber cloth. For the housing, use a soft, damp cloth. Wash the microfiber cloth in warm soapy water if necessary.
What is the warranty?
Swarovski Optik offers a 10-year international warranty against material and manufacturing defects. The first 5 years include labor. The warranty does not cover damage due to improper use or wear parts.
Can I use other eyepieces?
Yes, bayonet eyepieces from the Swarovski range are compatible (ATS/STS and ATM/STM 65/80). For optimal performance, use the new construction eyepieces.
How to orient the eyepiece?
Loosen the clamping screw on the tripod collar, rotate the telescope around the collar to the desired position, then retighten the screw. The click-stop positions are 0°, ±45°, and ±90° for the ATS model.
What to do in case of a problem?
Contact your Swarovski Optik dealer or an authorized after-sales service. Do not attempt repairs yourself, this would void the warranty. For any questions, consult the manual or the website www.swarovskioptik.com.
Where to find the manual?
The manual is available free of charge on notice-facile.com. You can download it in PDF or request a translation into other languages.

2.7 FOCUSING

Swarovski ATS 80 HD - FOCUSING - 1

- For distant objects, turn the adjustment ring for focusing to the right (clockwise).

- By turning the adjustment ring to the left (anti-clockwise), you can observe objects that are nearer.

- In order to ensure fatigue-free observation, turn the adjustment ring for focusing a bit to the left (anti-clockwise) until

the image becomes slightly unsharp. Then turn the adjustment ring to the right (clockwise) until the maximum image definition is attained for the first time.

- To retain the image definition over the entire range of magnification, you should carry out sharp focusing using the zoom eyepiece with the highest magnification.

Useful tip:

Use the focusing wheel of the spotting scope for accurate focusing. This reduces eye strain.

2.8 USE OF THE ZOOM EYEPIECE

Swarovski ATS 80 HD - USE OF THE ZOOM EYEPIECE - 1

To change magnification:

Turning the adjustment ring to the right (clockwise) decreases magnification.

Turning it to the left increases the magnification. You will be able to read the magnification above the index point.

2.10 USING THE SUNSHIELD

Swarovski ATS 80 HD - USING THE SUNSHIELD - 1

The integrated, extendable sunshield keeps away disturbing lateral light and protects the objective lens from rain. The sunshield is best slid out and in with a slight rotary motion.

It snaps in when extended as well as when retracted. The protective cap for the objective lens can also be used

when the sunshield is extended.

ATS/STS / DNA/STS / LN

2.11 DISASSEMBLY OF THE PROTECTIVE CAP FOR THE EYEPIECE

Swarovski ATS 80 HD - DISASSEMBLY OF THE PROTECTIVE CAP FOR THE EYEPIECE - 1

The protective cap for the eyepiece is attached to the eyepiece with a cord. By loosening the screw on the eyepiece with a screwdriver, you can remove the cord with the cap from the eyepiece. Please reinsert the screw.

2.12 AFTER USING THE OBSERVATION SPOTTING SCOPE

  • Please put the protective cap for the objective lens back on.
  • In order to protect the cover glass in the bayonet fitting, leave the eyepiece mounted and protect it by putting on its protective cap or close the bayonet fitting with the cover provided for this purpose.
    • Additional protection with the SOC stay-on case.

3. MAINTENANCE AND CARE

3.1 LENS-CLEANING CLOTH

You can clean high sensitive lens surfaces with the enclosed special microfibre cloth. It is suitable for objective lens, ocular lens and eye-glasses. Please keep the cloth clean, as dirt can damage the lens surface. If the cloth gets dirty, it can be washed in luke-warm soapy water and air-dried. Please use it exclusively for cleaning lens surfaces!

3.2 CLEANING

Swarovski ATS 80 HD - CLEANING - 1

We have designed all elements and surfaces to require little care. To ensure the long-lasting optical brilliance of your spotting scope, you should keep the glass surfaces free of dirt, oil and grease. When cleaning the lenses, first remove larger particles with an optical lens brush. For the subsequent thorough cleaning we recommend breathing onto the

lens surface to form a coat of condensation and then cleaning it with a soft, moist cloth.

Swarovski ATS 80 HD - CLEANING - 2

The housing is best cleansed with a soft, moist cloth (don't use the lens-cleaning cloth).

In the event of hard-to-remove dirt (e.g. sand) the eye cups can be unscrewed and cleaned easily.

3.3 STORAGE

Swarovski ATS 80 HD - STORAGE - 1

You should keep your spotting scope in a well-ventilated and dark place.

A wet spotting scope should to be dried before storage. In tropical regions or regions with a high humidity the best place to store the instrument in is an air-tight receptacle along with a moisture-absorbing agent (e.g., silica gel).

3.4 NOTICE

Eyepieces of the SWAROVSKI OPTIK AT and ST 80 spotting scopes fit mechanically into the bayonet lock of the main bodies ATS/STS and ATM/STM 65/80. But the best optical imaging is ensured if eyepieces of the new series are used.
