USER MANUAL LB 20 BEURER

1. Description of Device

7. Output regulator (air humidification)

– ATTENTION: As high temperatures prevail in this air humidifier, please take corresponding precautionary measures, especially in the presence of children, and install the device in a location inaccessible to children. – Install the device so that the steam outlet nozzle is not pointed directly at other objects. The exiting moisture could cause damage, for example to wallpaper. ATTENTION: The exiting steam is hot: DANGER OF SCALDING! – Protect the device from heat sources in the immediate vicinity, such as ovens, radiators or direct sunlight. – Avoid contact with hot surfaces. – Only use the air humidifier in closed rooms. – Do not store gasoline or other highly flammable substances near the device. – Use only clean, cold tap water to fill the tank. Never add salt or other substances to the tap water. – Please note that the plastic is not compatible with essential oils, as this can cause deforma- tions of the plastic. If you want to use essential oils or aromas, then clarify with the manuf- acturer of the aromas whether they are compatible with plastic. The aroma container is made of polypropylene (PP). – Never add aromas to the water (only in the aroma container). Please note that all cleaning agents must be carefully removed after cleaning the device before using it again. – Make sure that the device is not overfilled, even when the evaporator head is mounted. – Ensure firm locking of the evaporator head. – Only place the device on firm, level, waterproof surfaces. – Never hold your hands or face over the evaporator during operation. ENGLISH

– Make sure that your hands are dry when operating the device. – Before putting the device into operation, check the cable for any damage. If the power cord of this device is damaged, it may only be replaced with an original-equipment power cord available from the specified service address. – This device may only be operated with the voltage indicated on the rating plate. – This device may not be operated with direct voltage. – The device may not be tilted, moved or emptied while it is switched on or connected to the power supply. – Make sure that no water gets onto the cable or the plug. – Always unplug the device when the tank is empty or the device is not in use. – Never open the air humidifier before unplugging the power plug and disconnecting the appli- ance plug from the device. This is considered improper use and presents a danger to life and limb. – Clean the device if it has not been used for a longer period. – Always unplug the power plug before cleaning. – Only clean the device in the specified manner (Point 4). – Repairs to electrical appliances may only be carried out by specially trained persons. Incor- rect repairs can result in considerable danger to the user. – There may be a fire danger in case of improper use or use which is not compliant with these operating instructions!

3.1 Putting into operation

This device is used to humidify room air. The air humidifier operates according to the evaporator system: Two electrodes in the evaporator head heat the water with its electrical conductivity. There- fore, distilled water may not be used. The evaporator system prevents problems with bacteria, varying water qualities and lime emission to the surrounding area. – First remove all packaging and transport locks. – Fill the tank as described in 3.2. – Place the device on a firm, level, waterproof surface. – First firmly insert the appliance plug in the appliance outlet and then in the socket outlet. The humidifying output of the device can be changed by turning the output regulator. With this regulator you can adjust the desired relative humidity. Should you want a lower humidity, turn the regulator to the right toward “-“. For a higher humidity to the left toward “+”. This enables you to adjust the relative humidity accor- ding to your personal preference. Please note that this air humidifier may also cause over-humidification of the room if you operate the unit at a high setting and the humidity that is generated cannot escape from the room or if there is already a high level of humidity. It is best to check humidity with a higrostat.

3.2 Filling water tank

Caution! Danger! The device may not be filled as long as the appliance plug is connected! A safety lock prevents the evaporator head from being turned and removed with the device con- nected. Should the safety lock fail unexpectedly, never grasp the evaporator head on the underside (by the electrodes), but instead immediately unplug the power plug! To fill the tank, proceed as follows: First disconnect the device from the power supply by unplugging the power plug and then the appli- ance plug. Now turn the evaporator head counterclockwise as far as possible and remove it. Now fill the tank with tap water. Never add salt or other substances to the tap water. When the color of the fill level indicator changes to red, the maximum fill level has been reached and must never be excee- ded (max. 3.8 quarts/3.6 liters). Insert the evaporator head in the tank again and lock it by turning it8 clockwise. First connect the appliance plug and then the power plug. The air humidifier immediately begins to operate. After a few minutes steam exits from the device. If the water level drops below the electrodes, evaporation stops. Please empty the remaining water before refilling the tank. If the water level has dropped to a minimum, slight humming noises can result. These noises are caused, because the electrodes still have slight contact with the water, however the water level is no longer sufficient for evaporation. Either switch off the device or refill it with water as described.

3.3 Using aroma container

With the aroma container you can also release aromas and herbal essences into the air. – Carefully fill the container with the desired substance. The container should not be filled more than half full. – Remove the container again after use and clean it of residues with warm water.

4. Cleaning and Care

Water contains lime and other particles. These are deposited in the evaporator and reduce the per- formance of the device. In addition, a broad range of germs can accumulate in water, especially on all wet surfaces. For these reasons, regular cleaning is essential for the long enjoyment of your device. Please note that more frequent cleaning is required for operation with water with a higher degree of hardness. – Never use gasoline, kerosene, window cleaner, cleanser, furniture polish, thinner or other solvents to clean your air humidifier. – It is best to use water with a mild cleaning agent and a damp cloth to clean the surfaces. Wipe off any cleaning agent residues once with clean water and then dry off the device. Always make sure that the device is disconnected from the power supply and the electrodes have cooled before cleaning, filling or transport. Please note that the evaporator head may not be cleaned in the water tank. Therefore, place the evaporator head in a container filled with water and vinegar (not higher than the “MAX” marking). Allow the evaporator head to soak in the container for approx. one hour and carefully remove all residues after cleaning. Carefully dry the evaporator head before remounting it in the tank. If you do not intend to use the air humidifier for a longer time, store it after cleaning in a cool, dry place. Leave the water tank open. The electrode evaporator head is a wearing part, i.e. the electrodes are gradually used up. Metal particles separated from the electrodes oxidize and accumulate in the water. The electrodes can have a white (a sign of scale deposits -> they should be cleaned) or brownish coating. Both states are normal and completely harmless. Should you require a new electrode evaporator head, you can order it from the service address specified below.

If you do not want to use your air humidifier for a longer time, e.g. during the summer, it is especially important to observe the following information: – Clean your air humidifier thoroughly, as described in 4. – Make sure that all water is removed from the tank. – Thoroughly dry the device. – Pack the air humidifier in the original carton and store it in a cool, dry place.9
