Using the appliance
Curlers are powerful styling tools and must always be used with care. As with all curlers that reach salon high temperatures, do not use the appliance frequently to avoid damage to the hair. If you use the curler incorrectly or if you use it at the wrong temperature setting, you could overheat your hair or even burn it.
Curling
1 Put the plug in the wall socket.
2 Set the on/off slide to 'l' to switch on the appliance. (Fig. 2)
The default temperature setting of 120 appears on the display. (Fig. 3)
As soon as the appliance has heated up to this setting, the word 'READY' appears on the display.
Never leave the appliance unattended when it is plugged in. Always put the appliance on a heat-resistant surface when it is heating up and when it is hot.
3 Select a temperature setting that is suitable for your hair type.
- Always select a low setting when you use the curler for the first time.
- For thick or coarse hair, select a medium to high setting (170 and up).
- For fine or normal hair, select a medium to low setting (160 and below).
Take extra care with pale, blonde, bleached or colour-treated hair, since it is susceptible to damage at high temperature settings.
4 Press the + button to increase the temperature setting or the - button to decrease the temperature setting (Fig. 4).
The display shows the selected temperature setting.
As soon as the appliance has heated up to the set temperature setting, the word 'READY' appears on the display. (Fig. 5)
5 If you want to lock the set temperature setting, press and hold the temperature decrease/lock button for a few seconds (see section 'Temperature lock').
6 Divide your hair into locks and put them aside with clips. (Fig. 6)
Note: The thinner the lock of hair, the tighter the curl becomes.
7 Start curling at the lower part of your head and work your way up to the crown.
8 Take the lock of hair you want to curl and comb it first, to get rid of tangles (Fig. 7)
9 Press the lever to open the clip. Place the lock of hair between the barrel and the clip (Fig. 8).
10 Release the lever and slide the barrel to the end of the lock of hair (Fig. 9).
Take the cool tip between your fingertips and wind the lock of hair around the barrel until you have almost reached your scalp. Make
ENGLISH10
sure the end of the lock of hair is wound in the required direction (Fig. 10)
12 Hold the curler in this position for 10 seconds.
13 Unwind the lock of hair until you can open the clip again with the lever (Fig. 11)
Note: Do not pull at the curler when you unwind the lock, otherwise you would straighten the curl.
14 Let your hair cool down. Do not comb or brush it before it has cooled down, as this would ruin the hairstyle you have just created.
15 To switch off the appliance, set the on/off slide to '0'.
