3. IMPORTANT SAFETY WARNINGS
- Before using the appliance for the first time, read this instructions manual carefully and keep it for future reference. Only in this way will you obtain the best results and ensure optimum safety of use.
- Before using the appliance, make sure the voltage in your domestic mains supply corresponds to that indicated for the mixer.
- In the event of the socket being incompatible with the appliance plug, have the socket replaced by a qualified professional.
- We recommend that you do not use adaptors, plugs and/or extension cables. If the use of said elements is unavoidable, only use simple or multiple adaptors and extension cables that comply with current safety regulations, and take care not to exceed the power limit indicated on them.
- After removing the packaging, check that the appliance is in perfect condition. If in doubt, contact your nearest Technical Assistance Service.
- The packaging elements (plastic bags,
polystyrene foam, etc.) should be kept out of the reach of children, since they constitute potential sources of danger.
- This appliance is designed for domestic use only. Any other use is considered inappropriate and therefore dangerous.
- In the event of failure and/or improper functioning, switch the appliance off and do not attempt to repair. In the event of repairs becoming necessary, contact a Technical Assistance Service authorised by the manufacturer and request the use of original spare parts. Failure to do so will compromise the safety of the appliance.
- The user should never try to replace the cable. If the cable were to become damaged or need replacing, this should be carried out only by a Technical Assistance Service authorised by the manufacturer. Do not use the appliance if the cable or plug are damaged.
- The manufacturer accepts no responsibility for damage caused by the improper, wrong or unsuitable use of the appliance, or for damage caused by repairs carried out by unqualified persons.
Certain basic rules should be respected when using any electrical appliance.
PARTICULARLY
- Do not touch or pull on the power cable while your hands or feet are wet or damp.
- Do not let the cable hang over the edge of the table or worktop, or come into contact with hot surfaces.
- Never pull on the cable to unplug the appliance.
- Unplug the appliance when not in use, before assembling or disassembling and before cleaning.
- Do not let children use the appliance.
- Do not use the appliance outside.
- To protect against electric shocks, do not submerge the appliance, the cable or the plug in water or any other liquid.
- Do not touch the moving parts while the appliance is running.
- Do not use or place any part of this
appliance on or near hot surfaces (gas burners, electric hotplates or ovens).
- Do not leave the appliance unattended while in use.
- Do not remove the jug from the motor base while the appliance is in operation.
- This appliance has a safety switch which blocks the mechanism if the jug is not in place (or not properly positioned) on the motor base.
Do not use the jug to switch the appliance on and off.
- Do not use the mixer while empty, as this may damage it.
- Always use the mixer with the jug lid properly in place.
- Do not fill the jug with food at a temperature of over 80^ C.
- Do not fill the jug to more than 2/3 of its capacity, as it may overflow.
- Handle the blade with care in order to avoid the risk of cuts.
- Do not insert your hand or any other object into the jug while the mixer is in operation. If necessary, disconnect the appliance and use a spatula to remove any food stuck to the sides.
4. HOW TO USE THE APPLIANCE
Before using the mixer for the first time, clean the jug (C), the measurer lid (A) and the jug lid (B) in hot water and washing up liquid. Dry all parts thoroughly before replacing.
Assembly
All assembly and disassembly operations should be carried out while the appliance is unplugged.
Before switching it on for the first time, take a moment to become familiar with your mixer by assembling and disassembling it.
- Place the jug (C) on the motor base (G) (Fig. 2)
Model BV-480
- Put the measurer lid (A) into the jug's lid (B) by inserting its fins into the grooves in the lid and turning in a clockwise direction (Fig. 3)
- Add the ingredients to the jug and put the lid on.
- To take the mixer apart, do the same as for assembly, but in reverse order.
Model BV-460
If you wish, insert the filter (D) by fitting the filter's grooves into the jug's guides (Fig. 4)
- Put the lid on as show in figure 5 and lock it by tightening the side grippers
- Add the ingredients to the jug through the opening in the lid.
- Put the measurer (A) into the lid (B) by inserting its fins into the grooves in the lid and turning in a clockwise direction (Fig 3)
- To dismantle the mixer, do the same as for assembly, but in reverse order
Operation
- Place the assembled mixer on a stable surface. Make sure that the selector (H) is in the '0' position.
- Plug the appliance into the mains.
- Chop the products to be liquidised and place them in the jug. Next add the liquid, making sure you do not exceed the maximum level indicated on the jug.
- Close the jug (C) as explained in the "Assembly" section.
- For continuous operation, turn the selector to the '1' '2' or '3' position, depending on the speed you would like.
Speeds '1' and '2' are recommended for liquids, such as milkshakes, for example.
Speeds '2' and '3', on the other hand, are recommended for thicker foods, such as purées.
-
If you want to use the mixer for momentary operations, turn the selector to the "P" position, and alternate it continuously with the '0' position.
-
Switch the appliance off by turning the selector to its '0' position. Wait until the mixer has stopped completely before removing the jug.
- This appliance will not start if the jug is not positioned properly on the motor base (G).
NOTE: Do not use the appliance for more than three minutes at a time, since this may overheat the motor. For every three minutes of use, you should switch the appliance off for five minutes.
5. PRACTICAL ADVICE
- For optimum results, it is best to mix small rather than large quantities of food, especially when the item in question is very thick or heavy.
- Remove the measurer from the lid (A) to add ingredients to the jug while the motor is running.
- To avoid spillage, it is best to insert a small quantity of food into the jug through the lid opening, and then top up little by little as the food is mixed.
- It is best to place liquid ingredients into the jug before solid ones. The liquid helps to mix the items more quickly and at a lower speed. Always add a cup of liquid when mixing ice.
-
Mix the ingredients for short times only (between 5 and 30 seconds). Then check the consistency and continue processing until you obtain the consistency you require.
If the consistency you require is not obtained rapidly, stop the appliance by turning the selector to '0' and: -
Turn the selector to the 'M' position a few times in a row
- Remove the jug lid and mix the food items using a spatula, or
-
Reduce the quantity of food to be mixed.
-
Solid ingredients should be chopped into small pieces (approx. 1 cm).
- All fruit should be peeled and chopped and all stones, pips, etc. removed before
being placed in the jug.
- Some vegetables, such as tomatoes, should also be peeled and chopped before being processed.
- When mixing hot food, remove the measurer from the lid.
6. CLEANING
It is easier to clean the mixer immediately after use.
- Pour warm soapy water into the jug and switch the mixer on for a few seconds.
- Turn the selector to the '0' position and unplug from the mains.
- Next, rinse the jug with clean water and take it apart. If you want, you can detach the jug from the base (F) by holding the jug in one hand and turning the base in the opposite direction.
- Clean all the removable components in warm soapy water and dry thoroughly.
- Do not put the blades (E) or the motor base into the dishwasher.
- The motor base can be cleaned with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive detergents or solvents.
- Do not submerge the motor base in water or any other liquid, or hold it under a running tap.
- Should some food stain the jug when it is liquidised, it can be cleaned using a cloth dampened with cooking oil.6
7. INFORMATION FOR THE CORRECT DISPOSAL OF ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC APPLIANCES

At the end of its working life, the product must not be disposed of as urban waste. It must be taken to a special local authority differentiated waste collection centre or to a dealer providing this
service. Disposing of a household appliance separately avoids possible negative consequences for the environment and health deriving from inappropriate disposal and enables the constituent materials to be recovered to obtain significant savings in energy and resources.
To remind you that you must collaborate with a selective collection scheme, the symbol shown appears on the product warning you not to dispose of it in traditional refuse containers.
For further information, contact your local authority or the shop where you bought the product.
