Special safety notes
- This device has been designed for private use only and only for the purpose provided.
- Keep the device outside the reach of children.
- Make sure that the measuring lens (6) is always clean.
- Put on the protective cap (1) after each use.
- Do not immerse the device in water.
- Do not let the device fall down and avoid heavy impacts.
- Do not try to disassemble or modify the measuring device.
- Do not use the device with if the measuring lens is damaged.
- In healthy persons, the temperature in different regions of the body may vary between 0.2–1 °C (32.36 – 33.8 °F).
- The measuring accuracy of the device must be verified after 3 years. Please send the device to your dealer or the next service point for this purpose.
Further notes
- The measured body temperature may differ from one ear to the other. We recommend to measure the temperature always at the same ear.
- If you hold the device in your hand for more than 3 minutes this may lead to wrong measuring results for any subsequent measurements. You should therefore avoid to hold the device in your hand for too long.
- If your child is younger than 2 years or if you do not measure your own temperature (e.g., the temperature of older persons) we recommend to take three measurements at the same ear. If the readings differ from each other choose the highest temperature.
- Minor deviations in repeated measurements are permissible.
- If an obviously too low temperature should be measured the reason for this may be found in the position of the lens.
- If the device indicates a temperature that is too high it should not be used for about 30 minutes.
- The temperature measured in the ear corresponds to the oral temperature.
- This device is provided with an Anti Thermal Shock function in accordance with EN 12470-5. This means that it works properly even in case of changes in ambience temperature (e.g., changes between rooms, changes between interior and exterior temperature).

Putting in the batteries
The battery provided is a long-life lithium cell.
- Open the battery compartment (4).
- Replace the cell by a battery of the same type. Take care of the correct polarity.
- Close the battery compartment.

A battery symbol on the display (2) indicates that the battery should be replaced.
Attention: Batteries do not belong in your usual household rubbish. Please dispose of old batteries at proper collecting points or at the competent dealer.
Never throw batteries into a fire.
Measuring instructions
Take off the protective cap (1).
Make sure that both the measuring lens and ear canal are clean.
Push the On/Mem button (3). The device is ready as soon as the display starts to show (Fig. 1) and two beeps can be heard.
Please stand, sit or lie still.
Start measuring. Gently pull the ear back to stretch the ear canal. To get a correct measuring result you should direct the sensor (5) to the eardrum (Fig. 2).
- For children under the age of 2 years, gently pull the outer ear back (Fig. 3).
- For adults and children older than 2 years, gently pull the ear up and then back (Fig. 4).
Push the measuring button with your index finger. When the measuring process is completed (after about 1 second) the device will beep.
The measured temperature is indicated, the 3 symbol blinks for about 5 seconds and the device beeps two times. The device is now ready for a new measurement.
If the temperature is too high 'Hi °C' will be indicated, if it is too low you will see 'Lo °C' on the display.
After 1 minute or by holding the On/Mem button pushed down, the device switches off automatically. Only the last reading will be saved.
If you push the On/Mem button again after you switched on the device or push it repeatedly, the display will show the readings of the last measurements (memory function for up to nine readings (Fig. 5)).
Conversion from Celsius (°C) to Fahrenheit (°F)
Switch the device off. Concurrently push the measuring button (7) and the On/Mem button. The display will now show "F". You can now use the device as herein described. To change the display mode back just repeat this process.
Fever alarm
The device has a 'Fever Alarm' function. If the body temperature is above 37.5 °C (99.5 °F) you will first hear one long beep and then three short beeps.

The measured temperature is lower than 34.0 °C (93.2 °F).

The device is not ready.

Maintenance and storage
- Use a dry cloth to clean the device after each use (recommended).
- Clean the measuring lens and sensor after each use.
- Do not immerse the device in water.
- Do not use gas or strong cleaning agents.
- If the measuring device is not used for a longer time, the battery should be removed. (Leaking batteries may damage the device).
- Protect the device from direct sunlight, high temperatures, moisture (relative atmospheric humidity up to 95% (non-condensing)) and dust.
- Do not expose the device to extremely low (below -20^ (-4.0°F)) or high (above 50^ (122.0°F)) temperatures.

Guarantee
The device supplied by our Company is covered by a 24 month guarantee starting on the date of purchase (receipt).
During the life of the guarantee any fault of the device or its accessories ascribable to material or manufacturing defects will be eliminated free of charge by repairing or, at our discretion, by replacing it. The guarantee services do not entail an extension of the life of the guarantee nor do they give rise to any right to a new guarantee!
Proof of the guarantee is provided by the proof of purchase. Without proof of purchase no free replacement or repair will be carried out.
If you wish to make a claim under the guarantee please return the entire machine in the original packaging to your dealer together with the receipt.
Defects to consumables or parts subject to wearing as well as cleaning, maintenance or the replacement of said parts are not covered by the guarantee and hence are to be paid!
The guarantee lapses in case of unauthorized tampering.
After the expiry of the guarantee
After the expiry of the guarantee repairs can be carried by the competent dealer or repair service against the payment of the ensuing costs.

The CE marking CE 0197 of the measuring device corresponds to EU Directive 93/42/EEC (Medical Device Directive). The following standards apply for the design and/or production of the product:
