Check for possible transport damage
Report any damage or missing items to your dealer, supplier or the manufacturer immediately. Complaints made at a later date will not be acknowledged.
Assembly
Attach the hand guard with screws to the device prior to startup. (Page 2, fig. A).

Operating times
Before initiating the device please observe the provisions pertaining to corresponding laws (regional provisions) for the noise control.
Normal intended use
- The hedge shears is only intended for the private use in the house and hobby garden.
- As hedge shears for the private house and hobby garden are considered such devices that are not applied in public facilities, parks, and sports facilities as well as in the agriculture and silviculture.
- The device shall not be used for cutting grass, grass borders or in order to chop for composting. Risk of injuries existing!
- The intended usage also includes compliance with the operating, servicing and repair conditions prescribed by the manufacturer and following the safety instructions included in the instructions.
- The relevant accident prevention regulations for the operation as well as the other generally acknowledged occupational medicine and safety rules must be complied with.
- Any other use is deemed not to be use as prescribed. The manufacturer is not liable for any type of damage resulting from this: the user bears the sole risk.
- Arbitrary modifications on the hedge shears exclude a liability of the manufacturer for damages of all kinds resulting from it.
- The hedge shears shall only be assembled, used and maintained by persons who are familiar with it and instructed about the risks. Repair works may only be carried out by us or by a customer service agent nominated by us.
- The machine may not be used in a potentially explosive environment or be exposed to the rain.
Metallic parts (wires etc.) have unconditionally to be removed from the material to be cut.
Residual risks
Even if used properly, residual risks can exist even if the relevant safety regulations are complied with due to the design determined by the intended purpose.
Residual risks can be minimised if the "Safety information" and the "Intended usage" as well as the whole of the operating instructions are observed.
Observing these instructions, and taking proper care, will reduce the risk of personal injury or damage to the equipment.
- Injury by catapulted workpiece parts.
- Breaking or catapulting of knife pieces.
- Risk from electricity, by using non-standard electrical connections.
- Touching live parts of opened electrical components.
- Impairment of hearing when working on the machine for longer periods of time without ear protection.
In addition, in spite of all the precautionary measures taken, non-obvious residual risks can still exist.
Safe working
Before commissioning this product, read and keep to the following advice. Also observe the safety provisions applicable in the respective country, in order to protect yourself and others from possible injury.
Pass the safety instructions on to all persons who work with the machine.

- Make yourself familiar with the equipment before using it, by reading and understanding the operating instructions.
- Do not use the machine for unsuitable purposes (see 'Normal intended use').
- Avoid abnormal posture. Provide a safe standing position and keep at any time the balance.

Be observant. Attend to what you do. Start working with rationality. Do not use the device when you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medicaments. One moment of carelessness when using the device can result in serious injuries.

do not wear loose-fitting clothes or jewellery; they can catch in moving parts.

Keep your workplace in an orderly condition! Untidiness can result in accidents.
Take into consideration environmental influences: -
Do not expose the hedge shears to the rain.
- Do not use the hedge shears in humid or wet environment.
- Do only work with sufficient visibility conditions

Do not use the hedge shears near inflammable liquids or gases.
-
Never leave the hedge shears unattended.
- Persons under 18 are not allowed to operate the device.
- Keep other persons away.
Do not allow other persons, especially children, to touch the tool or cable. Keep them away from your working area.
- Do not overload the machine! You work better and safer in the given performance range.
- Only operate the machine with complete and correctly attached safety equipment and do not alter anything on the machine that could impair the safety.
- Do not use any knives which do not comply with the indicated characteristics of this instruction manual.

Check the machine for possible damage:
-
Before continuing to use the machine, the protective devices must be inspected to ensure that they work perfectly and with their intended function
- Check whether the movable parts function perfectly and do not stick or whether the parts are damaged. All parts must be correctly installed and fulfil all conditions to ensure perfect operation of the hedge trimmer
- Damaged guards and parts must be properly repaired or exchanged by a recognized, specialist workshop; insofar as nothing else is stated in the instructions for use.

Damaged or illegible safety warning labels should be replaced immediately.
-
Do not allow any tool key to be plugged in!
Before switching on, check always that wrenches and adjusting tools are removed. - Store the unused machine in a dry locked place away from the reach of children.
Electrical safety
- Design of the connection cable according to IEC 60245 (H 07 RN-F) with a core cross-profile section of at least
1.5 mm² for cable lengths up to 25m
- 2.5 ~mm^2 for cable lengths over 25 ~m
- Protect yourself against an electric shock. Avoid touching earthed parts with your body.
- Do not use the cable for purposes for which it is not meant. Protect the cable against heat, oil and sharp edges. Do not use the cable to pull the plug from the socket.
- Never carry the device at the connecting cable.
- Check regularly the cable of the hedge shears and get possible damages repaired by an accepted specialist.
- When taking the connecting line take care that it does not disturb, is not squeezed, bended and the connection assembly does not get wet.
- Regularly check the extension cables and replace them if they are damaged.
- Do not use any defective connection cables.
- When working outdoors, only use extension cables especially approved and appropriately labelled for outdoor use.
- Do not set up any provisional electrical connections.
- Never bypass protective devices or deactivate them.
- Connect the device via earth leakage circuit breaker (30 mA).

The electrical connection or repairs to electrical parts of the machine must be carried out by a certified electrician or one of our customer service points. Local regulations –
especially regarding protective measures - must be observed.

Repairs to other parts of the machine must be carried out by the manufacturer or one of his customer service points.

Use only original spare parts, accessories and special accessory parts. Accidents can arise for the user through the use of other spare parts. The manufacturer is not liable for any damage or injury resulting from such action.
Commissioning
Mains connection
Compare the voltage given on the machine model plate e.g. 230V with the mains voltage and connect the hedge trimmer to the relevant and properly earthed plug.

Alternating current motor:
Use a shockproof plug, mains voltage 230V with residual current circuit breaker and 10 A inert fuses.
- Use connection cable or extension cable respectively with a cross section of at least 1,5 ~mm^2 .
Mounting of the extension cable

In order to prevent an unintended loosening of the connection assembly put the extension cable as noose through the opening on the rear handhold and put it over the cable mounting. Page 4, fig. D.
Switch on
Do not use any device where the switch can not be switched on and off. Damaged switches must be repaired or replaced immediately by the customer service.
The hedge shears has a two-hand protective shut-down which prevents an unintended switching on.

Push the circuit closer/breaker on the rear handhold (8), cooperate at the same time with the other hand the switch on on the front handhold (6), page 2, fig. A.
Switching off

For switching off the device release the circuit
closer/breaker or the switch button.
Adjustments on the hedge trimmer

The handhold can be set to 5 working positions (45° raster)
- During the setting the circuit closer/breaker on the rear handhold (8) can not be operated.
- Hold the hedge shear on the front handhold (8), page 3, fig. B.
- Push the switch (10) backwards.
-
The rear handhold (8) can be turned into the desired position.
-
Release the switch (10) and make sure that it engages. The handhold is fixed.
Working instructions

Before commencing work, ensure the following:
- Workplace tidied?
- You may not start to operate the machine until you have read these operating instructions, observed all the instructions given and installed the machine as described!
Always keep the ventilation apertures free. - Scare animals off the hedge before starting to cut in order to prevent them from being injured.

Hold the hedge trimmer with both hands on a safe distance from the body.
- The extension cable must be kept behind the hedge trimmer when cutting so that it can not be caught by the knives, fig. D.
- Due to its double sided knives the hedge trimmer can be guided forward and backward or by oscillating movements from one to another side, fig. G.
- At first cut the sides of the hedge and then the upper edge.
Cut the hedge from the bottom up.
Cut the hedge in trapezium shape, fig. C. - Stretch a guide over the complete length of the hedge when you want to shorten the upper edge of the hedge evenly.
- Remove unconditionally any foreign objects out of the hedge (e.g. wires) as these can damage the knives of the hedge trimmer.

If persons who have blood circulation problems are too exposed to vibrations damages to the nervous system or od vessels may occur.
You can reduce vibrations
- by thick and warm working gloves,
- shorter working time (have longer breaks).
See a doctor if your fingers swell, you don't feel well or your fingers become numb.

Ensure that you always comply with the safety Instructions given on p. 13 ff.
Maintenance and Care

Remove the plug from the power socket before starting any maintenance or cleaning work.
For maintaining and cleaning, removed security devices must unconditionally be mounted properly and proved again.
Use only original parts. Other parts can result in unexpected damages and injuries.

Observe the following to maintain the functionality of the hedge trimmer.
Clean and oil all moving parts regularly.
- Clean or suck off respectively the ventilation slots.

Never clean the knives with water Risk of corrosion!

Never use any grease!

Use environmentally friendly oil.
Storage

Remove the mains plug from the socket.

Store unused equipment in a dry, locked place out of the reach of children.
To extend the service life of the hedge trimmer and guarantee smooth operation, before storing for a longer period -
thoroughly clean the hedge trimmer
- treat all movable parts with an environmentally friendly oil

Never use any grease!

Push the knife protection on the knife.
