Length: 250 mm Guide groove:

Saw chain: Half-chisel tooth-shaped, low recoil, hard chrome plated cutters. Drive pinion: 9 teeth – ball bearing mounted for smooth running. Use The DUO saw (type 1400 HKS circular hand saw with mounted KSV 200 chain saw attachment) is designed for carpentry work like mitred cutting and and joining. Even complicated tenon cutting can be done easily. It can be used in soft and hard woods. Above all, the DUO saw can be used in those situations where a normal circular hand saw cannot achieve the necessary cutting depth. The DUO chain saw is not designed for cutting down trees or removing branches! Safety instructions and accident prevention Before starting the machine, read the operating instructions completely, and follow the safety instructions in this manual as well as the general Safety Instructions for Electrical Tools in the included booklet. In addition, observe the following safety instructions when using the chain saw (DUO saw):

1. The KSV 200 chain saw may only be used together

with our type 1400 HKS circular hand saw. It was designed exclusively for use with this model of circular hand saw. For your own safety, make no modification to to the device. Modifications or the use of any other drive machines invalidate any warranty or liability claims!

2. Follow the accident prevention measures of the

appropriate trade or professional associations. Read the entire operating instructions carefully. Clothing and equipment:

  • Wear a hard hat when carrying out tasks which could involve head injury.
  • Protect your eyes from flying particles (wear protective glasses or a face shield)!
  • Wear tight clothing, thick leather gloves and safety shoes! Jewelry, scarves, ties, open work coats and similar things must not be worn.
  • When operating for an extended period of time, wear appropriate ear protection top prevent hearing loss (ear plugs, wax stoppers, etc.).
  • To avoid leg injuries from the sharp teeth of the chain saw, we recommend wearing leg protection. Notes on use:
  • Children and minors may not operate the DUO saw (chain saw). This does not include minors over 16 years of age under the supervision of a skilled operator for purposes of instruction.
  • When transporting the machine, always unplug the machine from the outlet or remove the power cable with patented Quick-Lock from the drive machine and put the chain guard on! Even short distances only after the machine has stopped!
  • Never turn the machine off by pulling the power cord. Use the switch on the machine.
  • The machine should be held securely when switching it on. Guide and chain must be free and must not be in contact with the piece to be worked on.
  • The machine should be held in both hands when operating!
  • When sawing near the ground, make sure that the chain saw does not come into contact with the ground or with objects lying on the ground.
  • Foreign objects such as nails, screws, pieces of metal, sand, etc. lead to ecessive wear on the bar and saw chain.
  • A dull saw chain can cause overheating and damage the saw.
  • If the machine is not in use for a period of time, it should be stored in such a manner that it cannot endanger anyone. Pull the power cord or remove the power cord with the patented Quick-Lock and put the chain guard on.
  • When checking the chain tension, tightening the chain, chainging the chain, connecting the chain saw to the circular saw and when eleiminating malfunctions, the drive motor must be separated from the power source! Pull the plug or remove the power cable from the machine with the patented Quick-Lock!
  • The safe operating condition of the machine, particularly the saw track and saw chain, should be checked before beginning work. When operating, be sure you have a safe place to stand.
  • Insure that noone stands within the cutting range of the machine!
  • Be especially careful when cutting splintering wood. Wood splinters can be thrown up by the saw chain and represent an increased danger!
  • No iron wedges may be used.
  • Our chain saws, which are not operated with safety low voltage, may not be used outdoors or in very damp places.
  • Pull the pug immediately if the power cable is cut!
  • Damaged power cables should be replaced immediately. Observe the notes in the operating instructions for the circular hand saw. 2 + 3 Connecting the KSV 200 chain saw attachment: Attention! Before beginning all maintenance and assembly procedures, disconnect the machine from the power source! Pull the plug or remove the power cable from the machine with the patented Quick-Lock! Set the saw plate to the minimum cutting depth and tighten with the wing nuts. Block the saw spindle of the type 1400 HKS circular saw by pressing the arresting button (19), and unscrew and remove the tension screw (23) using the Allen wrench (13). Remove pressure washer (21) and washer (22). Pull blade guard (15) back and hold. Remove the saw blade and flange (20). Remove splitting wedge (12), splitting wedge adapter (17) and plain washer after loosening the Allen screw (16). Please wear gloves for all of the following procedures! Remove chain guard from the chain saw attachment. Pull blade guard (15) back to fully open position and hold. Insert the chain saw attachment into the saw plate from above (see illustration). With the saw chain (3), turn the chain pinion (24) until the transport surfaces of the chain pinion (x) and the chain spindel (y) match up. Then the chain saw attachment can be easily pushed into the saw spindle with the chain pinion. Insert tension screw (23), with washer (22), press spindle arrest and tighten the tension screw. Swing saw plate back as far as it will go and tighten wing nuts well. Removing the chain saw attachment is done in reverse order. Some effort may be required to remove the chain pinion. When replacing the saw blade, be sure that the flange (20), pressure washer (21) and washer (22) are mounted on the saw spindle in the right order. Note the rotatonal directon of the saw blade. Tighten tension screw well. Tightening the saw chain: Loosen clamp screw (7). Pull bar away from chain pinion (24), until the entire length of the chain is in contact with the bar, and re-tighten with the clamp screw. To check, pull the chain on one side in the middle of the bar out of the guide groove (without much effort). The gap between the chain and the bar should be about 3 mm (see illustration). Check the chain tension of the chain regularly and at short intervals! Never tighten a hot chain! Allow chain to cool down! Break-in period: You will prolong the life of the chain saw quite considerably if you break the chain in well. – Never let the chain run without oil! – Set the chain tension (pull power plug first). – Let the machine idle for ca. 5 minutes. – Pull the power plug. Check the chain tension and retighten the chain if necessary. – Then for about 30 minutes, make only easy cuts. Insure suffcient lubrication: before every second cut push the oil pump button to pump extra oil into the guide groove in addition to force-feed lubrication. – During this time, check the chain tension regularly. Before doing so, turn the machine off and pull the power cord! – Only after this thirty minute period should you use the machine for more difficult cuts and greater cutting depths. – The load on the chain pinion is especially great. – If traces of heavy wear (approx. 0.5 mm) are visible, it must be replaced. A worn chain pinion reduces the life of the saw. Chain lubrication oil: Sufficient chain lubriction is important for the life of the saw. Never use waste oil – the impurities in the oil would become deposited in the lubrication channels and lead to blockages. We recomend the use of standard chain lubrication oils whose consistency has been especially developed for use in chain saws. – Do not continue sawing if the oil level in the tank falls below the minimum mark (26). – Clean the oil fill spout thoroughly every time before adding more oil. This prevents saw dust from getting into the tank and causing blockage of the oil feed. – Do not fill the tank above the maximum mark. – To fill the tank, press in the knob (2) of the oil pump and turn to the right until the arrows on the tank and the knob match up. The knob remains down and blocks the oil feed. – Open the oil feed before beginning operation! Turn knob (2) to the left until the arrows on the tank and the knob match up and the knob pops up. In this position, oil flows constantly into the chain guide, even when not in use. The advantage of constant lubrication: The initial friction of the chain saw is less and the life of the saw is prolonged. Please close the tank when the machine is not in use (to protect the environment)! Ensure that no oil leaks into the soil. Oil can cause serious pollution and containation of ground water! – Never forget to open the tank before you saw! NEVER SAW WITHOUT OIL! – If you press the knob of the oil pump and release it again while the oil feed is open, oil is pumped into the guide groove of the bar in addition to the force feed lubrication. Use this additional lubrication:

1. before larger cuts.

2. when the oil feed is blocked and the oil tank is not empty.

3. before every third cut when cutting firewood.

The oil tank of the chain saw should reach the MINIMUM level after about thirty minutes of uninterrupted cutting. If this is not the case, then the iol discharge opening in the guide groove is plugged up with saw dust. Usully, the blockage can be eliminated with a few strong squirts with the pump. If this procedure does not help, you will have to remove the bar and clean the guide groove and the lubrication hole (do not use any hard objects). Before assembling, open oil tank and check if oil flows out. If this is not the case, then send the chain saw attachment to our customer service departent to repair the defect. A well functioning oil lubrication system is the first requirement for trouble-free operation and long life. NEVER SAW WITHOUT OIL!

Changing the chain: Never touch the saw chain without gloves! Pull the plug or remove the power cable from the machine with the patented Quick-Lock! It is best to proceed in the following way: Block the oil feed. Loosen and remove tension screw (23). Remove clamp screw (7) and tension flange (25). Push the bar with the chain toward the chain pinion (24) until the saw chain can be removed from the chain pinion. Now the bar and the chain together can be pulled out between the transparent safety shield and the chain pinion. – Inspect saw chain and chain guide for defects or signs of wear. – Never install a new chain on a worn chain guide. When installing a new chain on the chain guide, please note the rotational direction of the saw chain. The cutting edges must face in the direction of rotation, as indicated by the symbol on the transparent safety shield. The rotational direction is indicated by an arrow on the transparent safety shield. Install the saw chain on the chain guide in such a manner that the entire length of the chain is in contact with the chain guide and forms a loop at the slotted end of the bar. Insert the chain guide with the chain into the machine from below, and fit the loop into the chain pinion. Make sure that the teeth of the chain pinion mesh with the saw chain correctly. Adjust the guide groove of the chain guide at the receiving tab and hold the bar in position. Set the tension flange (25) – the four lugs facing down – into the guide groove of the bar. Insert clamping screw (7) and tighten lightly by hand. Now you can re-insert the tension screw (23) and tighten it. Make sure the washer (21) is inserted. Now adjust the chain tension (as previously described) and tighten the clamping screw (7) with the Allen wrench. Every new chain should be broken in – as previously described! It is a good idea to change the chain guard from time to time. This allows you to achieve uniform wear of the chain guide. This also protects the chain from premature wear. When installing the chain, please note the direction of rotation! – Replace saw chain (for damages which cannot be repaired by filing). – Clean chain guide (if the chain lubrication does not work). – Reverse chain guide (after every time the chain is replaced or sharpened). – Replace chain guide (if the guide groove has become damaged or worn and the saw chain has too much lateral play). – Replace chain pinion (if it shows signs of heavy wear). – Tighten accessible screws. Noise and vibration information (KSV 200 with 1400 HKS drive machine) Determine measurement values in accordance with EN 50144. Accoustic pressure level: 87+3 dB (A) Accoustic output level: 100+3 dB (A) Workplace emission value: 90+3 dB (A) Noise protection measures are necessary for the operator. The evaluated acceleration is typically less than 2.5 m/s2. Recoil (kick back): The shape of the splitting wedge (5) largely excludes the danger of the saw kicking back. The DUO saw is ideally protected against recoil by the safety splitting wedge with tip protection. Therefore, never remove the splitting wedge (5). You would place yourself in serious danger! The cutting edges of the saw chain also have projecting depth limiters which help to lessen the the danger of kick backs. Make sure you have a safe place to stand, hold the saw with both hands, make sure your work area is clean and pay attention to our safety notes! Work notes: – Always set saw plate on workpiece. – Always switch the machine on before the chain touhes the wood. – Cut into the wood slowly and saw using only light pressure. The saw chain must work by itself so to speak. The chain speed should not become noticably (audibly) slower. Every cutter has a so-called depth limiter, i.e. even under great pressure, the machine will not remove a thicker cut. You actually achieve the opposite of what you want: You saw “more slowly” because the friction between the chain guide, saw chain and wood is greater and the chain speed is reduced and the cutting rate is lessened. – After long periods of intense sawing, the saw should be allowed to idle without a load on it for a short time (cooling effect). Maintenance and care: You should test your chain saw before you use it: – Does the chain lubrication work? This is especially important if the chain saw has not been used for a long period of time. – Is the chain tension correct? – Is the chain guide worn or damaged? – Does the chain pinion already show signs of wear? – Is the power cable of the drive machine damaged? Damaged power cables must be replaced immediately! The following maintenance procedures should be carried out if necessary: – Clean chain oil tank (flush with raw alchohol but never nitro-thinner, gasoline, trichlorethylene, ammonia or other agressive chemicals). Avoid open flame! – Sharpen saw chain (if the saw demands greater cutting pressure or if only a few small chips are removed, this is a sign of a dull chain). Observe the instructions included with the sharpening tools.
