_ USING THE LIFT CORE

You have decided to purchase our CONCORD LIFT CORE seat for the safety of your child. This product is manufactured using careful quality controls. It can only develop its maximum safety properties if it is used properly. Therefore you should ensure that you follow these instructions for fitting and use carefully. The seat can be used on any of the seats in your vehicle that have a threepoint seat belt. Statistics suggest that the place behind the passenger seat is the safest in the car. The seat has three essential elements: the backrest, the comfort booster seat, and the head section with 7-point height adjustment and integrated shoulder section. In addition, it is equipped with a car seat adjuster to aid installation. A Head section B Adjustment handle C Shoulder strap slot C1 Securing hook D Diagonal belt E Backrest F Lap belt G Belt aperture for three-point seat belt H Supporting wedge with instruction manual I Seat shell J Seat belt buckle _ INSTALLING THE LIFT CORE (FIGURES 6/7) Place the LIFT CORE on the car seat or bench seat facing forwards (in the direction of travel). Due to its angle of installation, the LIFT CORE will rest against the back of the car seat. To increase the angle of inclination, the supporting wedge (H) may also be folded out so that it rests against the lower part of the car backrest.

If a car is fitted with standard headrests, these may be adjusted or removed to make it easier to install the child car seat. Please ensure that the car headrests are replaced and re-positioned correctly when an adult is travelling in the car. The seat may not be transported unsecured in the vehicle, even if there is no child passenger. Otherwise passengers risk injury during the journey or in the event of an accident. For this reason, the belt must always be fastened when travelling. _ SECURING THE CHILD WITH THE THREE-POINT SEAT BELT Seat your child well back in the seating area. Pass the three-point belt across the front of the child to the seat belt buckle, and fasten it in the same way as for an adult. (There must be an audible click.) Now position the straps. Insert the lap belt (F) into the belt apertures (G) on the seat shell (I) on both sides, and the diagonal belt (D) into the belt aperture on the side with the buckle. Insert the diagonal belt (D) into the shoulder strap slot (C). Ensure that the belt is inside the securing hook (C1). Adjust the head section to the appropriate height by pressing the adjustment handle (B) and pushing the head section. The head section may be adjusted to seven heights, and it must click into place when the adjustment handle is released. The shoulder belt guide (C) should be slightly above the top of the child’s shoulder. At the same time, the shoulder belt should pass centrally between the child’s neck and the outer edge of the shoulder. Pull the belt taut so that the lap belt and diagonal belt are well positioned and ensure that the belts are not twisted. The lap belt should be in the lowest possible position. If your vehicle is fitted with a seat belt height adjuster, adjust its height accordingly. When you wish to remove the child from the seat, all you need to do is open the buckle and pass the strap back across the child. To remove the shoulder belt from the slot, press down the securing hook (C1) and pull the belt forwards (Figure 3). It is nonetheless important to ensure that the straps are always correctly positioned each time the seat is used. Figure 1 illustrates the correct method of installation. Figures 4 and 5 show incorrect variations. If you have any doubts about installation, please contact us to check. The belts must pass through the belt guides marked in red on the seat and shown in Figures 1 and 2. Belts must not be routed in any other way. _ USING THE FIXING BELTS (ACCESSORIES) We have developed fixing belts as special accessories for the CONCORD LIFT CORE backrest. These belts assist in positioning the child car seat. Any drawbacks that might occur as a result of differently shaped car seats may be compensated for by using the fixing belts. Important: The fixing belts indicated are not an integral part of the safety system.

Begin by selecting the most suitable car seat fitted with a three-point seat belt. Make sure that you can pass the fixing belts around the backrest of the chosen car seat. The front passenger seat or a fold-down back bench seat is ideal. Our diagrams indicate several possible ways of fastening the belts. Please note

  • Position the strap fastenings on an even surface so that they are readily accessible.
  • The belts should not be twisted, damaged or trapped.
  • Loose belt ends must always be secured.
  • To avoid friction spots on the vehicle seat, we recommend inserting a layer of soft fabric to protect critical areas. NOTE! THE FIXING BELTS MUST NOT BE USED FOR HARNESSING THE CHILD!!! If there is an integrated airbag in the car seat, it must not be covered by the fixing belt nor must the belt restrict its functioning in any way. _ CARE INSTRUCTIONS Removing the covers for washing: the cover comprises five parts (seat shell, backrest, head section and two shoulder sections) which are fastened to the seat by means of Velcro tape, buttonholes and straps. Once these fastenings have been undone, the fivepart cover may easily be removed. The covers are replaced in the reverse order.
  • When they come into contact with moisture, especially during washing, the cover fabrics may fade slightly.
  • Do not use solvents! _ IMPORTANT NOTES For information on children as passengers, please refer to the handbook of the particular vehicle in question.
  • Children sometimes carry items in the pockets of jackets and trousers (for example toys) or have solid parts on their clothing (for example belt buckles). Ensure that these items are not between the child and the seat belt since they could cause unnecessary injuries in the event of an accident. These dangers also apply to adults.
  • By their very nature, children can sometimes be rather boisterous. Ensure that you explain to your children how important it is to be secured in the car at all times. It will then become a matter of course that they do not change where the belts go and do not unfasten the seat belt buckle.
  • The safety of your child can only be protected to the best possible effect if the safety system is fitted and used correctly.
  • The belts on the system must be taut and not twisted and are to be protected against damage.
  • Protect the parts of the restraint system which are not covered with fabric from direct sunlight so that your child cannot suffer burns.
  • The child restraint system must not be damaged or jammed by moving parts in the interior of the vehicle or by doors.
  • Do not make any modifications to the restraint system; in doing so you may place the safety of your child at risk.
  • After an accident the entire child restraint system is to be replaced.
  • Ensure that your passengers also know how to take the child out of the restraint in the event of an accident.
  • Do not leave your child in its seat without supervision, regardless of whether it is secured.
  • To reduce the risk of injury in the event of an accident, secure all luggage and other objects.
  • These instructions must be carried with the seat at all times.
  • The use of accessory and replacement parts is not permitted and will render all guarantee and liability claims invalid. The only exceptions to this are original special accessories from CONCORD.
  • Suitable for vehicles with three-point seat belts, which have been tested pursuant to ECE Regulation 16 or an equivalent standard. As a result of the very long period of use of the (LIFT CORE) restraint system, it is natural that the seat covers and some other parts will suffer varying levels of wear and may have to be replaced, depending on the duration of their use and how often they are used. Therefore we are unable to offer guarantees which extend beyond a period of six months. If you require replacement parts, contact your child and baby stockist, the relevant department in department stores, car accessory store or mail order company. A full list of accessories for CONCORD child seats is also available from the above. The lock of the seat belt must not be placed over the edge of the lap belt. In case of doubt, or if you are uncertain about something, please contact CONCORD. The belts must run only in the positions specified in the instructions and along the contact areas on the seat. Running belts in any other way is prohibited. If the seat used has a front airbag, we recommend the car seat be adjusted as far back as possible. In addition, for cars with airbags the instructions in the car's operation manual must be heeded. The shoulder belt (diagonal belt E) must pass forwards from the vehicle bracket to the shoulder strap slot (C). Adjust the vehicle seat position if needed.
