  • If you have cooked meat with the skin still intact, (e.g. ox tongue), the skin can swell under pressure. In this case, do not pierce the meat while the skin is still swollen. You could be badly burned.
  • If you are preparing food with a porridge-like consistency, please shake the pressure cooker gently before you open the lid - this will prevent you from being spattered with hot food.
  • Before each use, please make sure that the valves are not blocked. Please refer to the instructions for further details.
    • Do not use the pressure cooker to fry food under pressure with oil.
  • Never tamper with the cooker's safety systems. Details of care and maintenance which you may carry out are detailed in the instruction booklet.
  • Only use original spare parts for the respective model. Use pot and lid from the same manufacturer and make sure that they are compatible.
  • Keep packaging films and protective sheeting away from children - There is danger of suffocation!
    • Please keep these instructions for future reference.
    • Always include the instructions for use when lending the pressure cooker to someone else.

  • The pressure cooker is to be used for cooking in a domestic environment and may not be used for any other purpose. Juveniles and persons with no experience in how to operate the product correctly may not use it. Must have a person watching and keep away from children when using the pressure cooker.

  • When the pressure limit is set, the boiling point of the liquid is below 120^ C (250F). Please operate carefully because a lot of steam and soup will be created when boiling and especially when the pressure is reduced rapidly.
  • Preferably you should avoid cooking foods that then expand during the cooking process such as apple jam, seaweed, oatmeal, etc. to avoid blocking the steam-releasing safety valve.
  • Always keep the pressure-regulating valve, opening button, sealing ring, pressure cooker lid and pressure cooker body clean before and after use. The aforementioned parts need to be free of any dirt or grease.

  • The pressure cooker should be used on a steady and stable hob. On electric stoves, do not put the pressure cooker on hobs that have a bigger diameter than the base of the pressure cooker. When cooking on a gas stove, the flames may not flicker up as high as the sides of the pressure cooker (Fig. 2). The pressure cooker is suitable for use on electric, induction, gas and ceramic stoves.

natural_image Close-up of a mechanical component with labeled parts (a and b) and no visible text or symbols
  1. Pressure-regulating valve (Fig. 7a): If the internal pressure has reached the predefined operating pressure, steam will be released constantly from the valve.
  2. Locking pin/safety valve (both parts are combined together, see Fig. 1): If the internal pressure rises to 4 kPa, the locking pin rises, which prevents the lid from opening. The red cap of the locking pin is visible while this is happening. In the event that the pressure-regulating valve is blocked, the safety valve will release steam within the safety pressure range in order to reduce the pressure.
  3. Pressure-regulating valve (Fig. 7b): When the pressure-regulating and safety valve are not functioning, the relief valve will activate in order to reduce the pressure inside the pressure cooker.
  4. Opening push button: only when the locking pin has dropped may the switch be pushed forward in order to open the pressure cooker.

IV Technical Benefits

  1. Thanks to the reinforced bi-metal base of the pressure cooker, a uniform heat transfer is guaranteed.
  2. The pressure-regulating valve is adjustable. You can easily select the operating pressure or the ventilation position.
  3. The internal pressure can be read off of the pressure gauge, this means that the two white rings show the various pressure levels and the red ring shows the excess pressure inside the pressure cooker.
  4. A special pressure-regulating technical feature is applied in order to ensure that the food is cooked in a particularly gentle manner. The technical feature does not have an inlet channel in order to avoid blockage..

The marking "I" indicates the following functions (Fig. 8)

V How to use

Clean the pressure cooker with washing-up liquid before you use it for the first time. In order to remove any possible manufacturing odors from the pressure cooker, the pressure cooker can be rinsed out with water and heated for half an hour.

  1. Cleaning: The ventilation tube and the safety valve should be examined before use in order to ensure the correct functioning of the pressure cooker while in use. If a blockage is discovered, remove this by using a needle to dislodge the deposited blockage.
  2. Closing/opening the pressure cooker: Align the > marking on the lid with the O marking on the handle of the pressure cooker and turn the lid clockwise until the lid and handle of the pressure cooker are exactly one above the other; you will also hear a click while doing so. The lid is now already closed, see Fig. 11.

Cass/position

3x1pance F-

Fig. 11

  1. Setting the operating pressure: Set the pressure-regulating valve to the desired pressure level.
  2. Heating: In order to raise the temperature quickly, heat with a strong energy supply (but not too strong) until the red locking pin engages. Once the supplying of power has been begun, after a while steam starts to be released from the locking pin (this is a normal occurrence). As soon as the steam escapes stably from the regulating valve, the desired cooking operating level has been reached. Reduce the energy supply somewhat in order to achieve a moderate and constant jet of steam. The cooking time can now be calculated (Please also see paragraph IX).

Caution: The cooking time constitutes the time from the activation of the pressure-regulating valve and the turning off of the energy supply.

  • The pressure cooker may not be left unattended while being heated. Always carefully watch the pressure cooker while it is in use.
  • Do not touch the pressure cooker's hot surface, e.g. stainless steel parts, you should instead only carry the pressure cooker using the handles in order to avoid injuries.

  • Turn off the energy supply, reduce the pressure, open the lid:

Once the cooking time has been completed, the heat source is turned off and the pressure in the pressure cooker must be reduced. To do this, remove the pressure cooker from the hob and place it on a suitable underlay. To reduce the pressure, you have the 3 following possibilities:

1) Cool down slowly

Turn off the energy supply. Allow the pressure cooker to cool normally in the air until the locking pin drops. You can then open the lid by pushing the sliding switch forward and turning the lid anti-clockwise until both > / 0 markings match up to each other, see paragraph 12.

ELO Praktika Plus XLS 6L - V How to use - 3

ELO Praktika Plus XLS 6L - V How to use - 4

Attention: Recommended in the case of foods that foam or have a porridge-like consistency.

2) Evaporation

Slowly and step-by-step turn the pressure-regulating valve to the position (see Fig. 13). CAUTION: The escaping steam is very hot. The steam escapes in an upward direction, please do not hold your hands over the valve, wait until no more steam is escaping and the pressure gauge is no longer visible. These methods is not suitable for foaming foods or foods with a porridge-like consistency.

ELO Praktika Plus XLS 6L - V How to use - 5

natural_image Close-up of a mechanical component with circular and rectangular features, labeled Fig. 13 (no text or symbols on the object itself)

3) Fast pressure reduction:

Hold the pressure cooker under a cold running tap - not the plastic parts - until the red safety valve has dropped completely. Please do not place the pressure cooker in the water. When no more steam escapes, the pressure cooker can be opened, the lid can be removed (see Fig. 14).

ELO Praktika Plus XLS 6L - V How to use - 6

natural_image Illustration of a cooking pot with a kitchen faucet and tool, labeled Fig. 14 (no text or symbols on the diagram itself)

Caution: Never use force to remove the lid and do not make any alterations to the safety systems. Only when the pressure cooker is not pressurized can it be opened.

If the locking pin has not dropped (there is pressure inside the pressure cooker), then the lid may not be opened.

Please wear gloves when opening the cooker in order to avoid injuries.

When cooking foods with a porridge-like consistency, such as, for example, rice pudding, thick soups, etc., the pressure cooker should be shaken slightly before opening in order to remove air bubbles.

VI Trouble shooting

If an operating malfunction should occur, the energy supply must be turned off immediately, the pressure cooker needs to be placed on a flat surface and hold under a cold running tap in order to slowly reduce the pressure. The continued use of the pressure cooker is only allowed when the following malfunctions have been rectified

VIII Frequently asked questions

  1. Q: How should the pressure cooker be operated?

A.: Heat the pressure cooker with a strong energy supply until steam starts to escape from the pressure-regulation valve. The energy supply should then be reduced. An excessive energy supply can result in excessive evaporation and dry cooking.

  1. Q.: Why is my pressure cooker not working well?

A.: Is the cooking time correct?

Has the pressure-regulation valve been applied correctly?

The energy supply is too big or too small?

Is the filled volume appropriate?

Is the pressure correct? (Is steam escaping from the pressure-regulation valve?)

  1. Q.: When do you start to calculate the cooking time?

A.: The recommended cooking time is only then calculated when the pressure-regulation valve begins to ventilate.

  1. Q.: Is the cooking time depended on the volume level to which the pressure cooker is filled?

A.: The maximum volume of the food to be cooked is below 2/3 of the depth of the pressure cooker. Expanding foods such as beans need to be below 1/4. The cooking time depends on the volume of food filled into the pressure cooker.

  1. Q.: The food turned grey after cooking!

A.: Foods rich in protein and carbohydrates dissolve when cooked at high temperatures and high pressure, meaning that the food can become grey. This is not harmful and will not have an adverse effect on the taste.

  1. Q.: Sugared bean milk splashes out of the safety valve.

A.: When heating liquids rich in sugar, these can evaporate quickly when under high pressure and can squirt out. It is therefore recommended to cook such foods without pressure or without the pressure-regulating valve.

  1. Q.: The pressure cooker is heated until dry.

A: Turn off the energy supply immediately and allow the pressure cooker to be cooled by the air. The pressure cooker may not be cooled down by means of holding under a cold running tap.

Sl. 11

(pogledajte odeljak IX)

natural_image Close-up of a black mechanical component with circular and rectangular features, labeled 'Sl. 13' (no other text or symbols visible)

III.

(Pogledajte SI. 14).
