Frequently Asked Questions - ALTA DA300 Eldom

Can I use tap water in the Eldom ALTA DA300?
Yes, normal tap water is suitable. In hard water areas, it is recommended to use distilled water to reduce scale buildup. Never use hot water or add perfumes, vinegar, or descaling agents.
How do I clean the anti-calc filter?
Remove the filter from the water tank every 2-4 weeks. Soak it in white vinegar for at least 4 hours, then rinse with tap water and reinstall.
What does the iron lock do?
The iron lock secures the iron in place on the main house for safe storage or transport. Always lock the iron when not in use and ensure the unit is off and cool.
Why is there no steam coming out?
Ensure the steaming function is turned on (continuous steam button set to 'W' or shot of steam pressed). Also check that the temperature dial is set to a high enough setting (at least 'ooo') for steam generation.
Can I iron without steam?
Yes, you can dry iron. Simply do not fill the water tank and set the desired temperature. The iron will heat up but no steam will be produced.
How do I use vertical steaming?
Hold the iron about 20 cm away from the garment. Press and hold the shot of steam button or set the continuous steam button to 'W'. Move the iron up and down without touching the fabric to remove creases.
What should I do if the soleplate is dripping water?
This may happen if water has condensed inside the soleplate. Allow the iron to heat up fully until the indicator light stops flashing. The dripping should stop once the iron is hot enough.
How do I store the iron properly?
Turn off and unplug the unit, let it cool for at least 60 minutes, empty the water tank, lock the iron in place, and coil the cords in the storage pocket. Store in a cool, dry place.
What does the indicator light mean?
The indicator light flashes when the iron is heating up. Once it stops flashing, the set temperature has been reached. The light will cycle on and off to maintain the temperature.
Can I use the iron on delicate fabrics?
Yes, but set the temperature to the lowest setting (•) for nylon, silk, synthetics, etc. Do not use steam on these fabrics. Always check garment labels first.

GETTING STARTED

Before using the iron for the first time, fully unwind the power cord (1) and the steam cord (2).

You may notice an odour from the unit on first use. This is normal and will cease after a short period of time.

Place the unit on a stable, hard, horizontal and heat-resistant surface.

Do not place the device on an ironing board cover or soft surface.

The main house (9) must at all times be positioned underneath the iron (12). Otherwise, the steam will not be able to reach the iron (12) freely.

Make sure that the device is unplugged and cold, the temperature dial (5) is on "MIN" and the continuous steam button (6) is on "W".

Make sure that the iron (12) is not locked - Fig. 1

When using the unit for the first time, iron a piece of cloth to make sure that the device is working properly.

Do not use steam on the first use.

Caution: The soleplate (13) heats up very quickly but takes longer to cool down. Take care not to touch the hot soleplate.
