Frequently Asked Questions - GLIDE DA29N Eldom

How do I fill the water tank?
Open the water inlet cover and tilt the iron slightly. Use the included measuring cup to fill with tap water up to the MAX mark, then close the cover.
How do I use the steam function?
Set the temperature to at least the steam zone (indicated by dots on the dial). Press the steam trigger for continuous steam, or the surge of steam button for a powerful burst.
Why is my iron leaking water?
Leaking can occur if the temperature is too low for steam, or if the iron is overfilled. Ensure the temperature is set to steam range (● or higher) and do not exceed MAX water level.
How do I clean the soleplate?
Unplug and let cool. Wipe the soleplate with a damp cloth. For stubborn residue, use a non-abrasive cleaner. Do not use scouring pads.
How do I use the self-clean function?
Fill tank to MAX, heat to maximum temperature, then unplug. Hold iron horizontally over a sink, press and hold the self-clean button to flush out mineral deposits.
What does the automatic shut-off do?
If the iron remains stationary on its soleplate or side for 8 minutes, it automatically switches off for safety. To reset, move the iron or turn the dial.
Can I use distilled water?
Yes, distilled or demineralized water is recommended to reduce scale buildup. Avoid using chemical additives or scented water.
How do I store the iron after use?
Allow it to cool, empty the water tank, and store upright on its heel rest. Wrap the cord loosely around the cord wrap.
Why is the iron not heating?
Check power connection and outlet. Ensure the temperature dial is set to a non-zero position. If still not working, the thermal fuse may have tripped; contact support.
What spare parts are available?
Spare parts include the water tank, soleplate, and steam trigger button. Contact Eldom customer service or authorized dealers.

USING THE IRON

Before first use unfold the cord (5) completely. During initial exploitation there may appear a harmless odour which has no influence upon the usage of the iron and quickly disappears.

Before connecting to the mains put the iron on the heel rest (12), turn the temperature dial to „0“ setting and dry/steam power selector (1) to setting “0” (no steam).

After plugging in and temperature setting the light of the control lamp (8) comes on. It goes out when the chosen temperature is reached.

The ironing temperature should be adjusted to the fabric. If the type of fabric is unknown set for minimal temperature and gradually increase the temperature until a satisfying effect is reached.

DRY IRONING

Put the iron on the heel rest (12), turn dry/steam power selector (1) to setting "0". Before plugging in or operating turn the temperature dial to "0" setting.

STEAM IRONING

Steam ironing with additional steam function is only possible with high temperature. The highest temperature is marked on the temperature dial as "MAX". The steam power is regulated by dry/steam power selector (1).

Additional steam power is obtained by pressing steam button (2) and it facilitates ironing of exceptionally tough wrinkles.

NOTICE. Steam is hot and there is a danger of burning. The soleplate heats very quickly but it needs more time to cool down. It should not be touched.

FILING THE WATER TANK

Before filling the water tank make sure that the device is unplugged and that the dry/steam power selector (1) is set on "0".

Use room temperature ordinary tap water or distilled water for ironing. Never use mineral water or water containing too much lime or water destined for car batteries.

To fill the water tank use a special measuring cup, the shape of which is adjusted to water-fill hole. Do not fill the water tank straight from the tap! While pouring water into opening remember to stick to "MAX" level mark on the side of the water tank (11) and not to overfill.

ANTI-DRIP SYSTEM

The anti-drip system prevents from water spotting at low temperatures.

SELF CLEAN

It is recommended to use the self clean function to prevent from any buildup in the iron. In order to do it, follow this instruction:

  • fill the water tank until MAX line
  • plug in and set the temperature dial (7) to "MAX"
  • after the control lamp (8) goes out, unplug and hold horizontally e.g. over a sink
  • press SELF CLEAN button (10) for about a minute and shake the iron
  • after cooling down wipe the soleplate with moistened cloth to remove any dirt

Water and steam coming from the iron during self cleaning are hot and there is a danger of burning.

WATER SPRAY

After filing the water tank you may sprinkle water on ironing surfaces by pressing spray button (3)

TIPS

  • use tap or distilled water
  • the iron has the heel rest (12) to be comfortably and firmly put
  • marking lower temperature with temperature dial does not result in immediate temperature reduction. Wait until the control light comes on again.
  • while dry ironing the water tank may be empty. Check if the dry/steam power selector is set on "0". You may use any range of temperatures depending on the kind of fabric. If the water tank is full you may use the spray function,
  • the iron should be stored in vertical position, unplugged, cooled down and with no water
  • dry iron at low temperatures

CLEANING

  • before cleaning the appliance unplug it and wait until it cools down completely.
  • the iron should not be immersed in water
  • do not use abrasives or heavy duty wipes and sponges because they may destroy the appliance
  • the iron and soleplate should be wiped with moistened cloth, and later with clean dry cloth.
