6. USING THE MACHINE
6-1. PREPARING AND DISPENSING COFFEE
Once you have carried out the operations described in section 4.1-4.2, the machine is ready for use.

Do not cover the cup-warming shelf with fabrics, felt etc.
- Place the required fi Iter (20-21) into the fi Iter holder (11).
- Fill the fi Iter with the required amount of coffee for 1 or 2 cups (7 g - 16 g) according to the fi Iter selected (20-21).
- Level the coff ee and compact it using the tamper (18). Remove any coff ee
residues from the edge of the filter and insert the filter holder into the group head (10), moving it to the right to secure it.
- Place the cups under the spouts of the filter holder and activate the dispenser by raising the lever (15).

SHOT TIMER
During brewing, the display (13) shows the brewing time. At the end, the total time remains visible for 4 seconds.
- Once the required amount of coffee has been brewed, bring the lever down.
•To brew additional cups of coffee, remove the filter holder (11) from the group head by moving it towards the left, empty the coffee grounds and repeat the steps described above.

To avoid burns, do not touch the group head, steam/water wands or related dispensing devices.

On a new machine, the filter holder may not be aligned (perpendicular to the machine) as shown in Figure 3. This does not prevent the machine from working properly. After being used for a short time, the filter holder will gradually settle in the correct position.
D = Position of the closed filter holder when the machine is new E = Position of the closed filter holder after the machine has been in use for a short time.

•Coffee should be ground just before it is used. Once ground, coffee loses its flavour very quickly. If the coffee is too coarsely ground, the coffee will be
light in colour and weak without any froth. If the coffee is too finely ground the espresso will be dark and strong with a small amount of froth.
- Warm cups help keep freshly brewed coffee at the right temperature. We recommend using cups that have been preheated on the cup warmer (3).
- The pump pressure can be read on the pressure gauge (4) during dispensing. The correct pressure for making coffee is 8/9 bar.
6-2. DISPENSING HOT WATER
- Place a container under the hot water wand (8) and turn the lever (5) to dispense hot water.
- When you have enough hot water, turn the tap (5) to stop delivery.

We recommend that you dispense a maximum of 200 ml of water.
6-3. DISPENSING STEAM
- Before heating drinks, carefully dispense a small amount of steam from the steam wand (9) using the lever (6).
- Pour the drink to be heated into a milk jug, then immerse the steam wand (9) into the drink and open the tap by acting on the lever (6).
- Once the drink has reached the desired temperature, close the tap (6).
To froth milk for a cappuccino:
- Pour some cold milk into a container but without filling the container completely.
- Place the container with milk under steam wand (9) then immerse it a few millimetres into the milk.
- Use the steam tap (6) and slowly move the container upwards to obtain a
creamier froth.
- Once the volume of milk has doubled, immerse the frothing nozzle completely and heat the milk.
- Stop dispensing using the steam tap (6).

Danger of burns! Spurts of hot water may be ejected when you first start to dispense steam. The nozzle can become extremely hot. Do not touch it directly with your hands.

After heating the liquid, it is recommended that you purge the steam pipe by opening the tap for a few seconds.
7. CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

WARNING: This appliance must not be immersed in water for cleaning.

Do not wash the machine parts in the dishwasher.
7-1. CLEANING THE STEAM AND HOT WATER NOZZLES
•To avoid altering the taste of the drinks to be heated and to prevent the holes at the end of the nozzles from becoming clogged, clean thoroughly with a damp cloth after each use and dispense a small amount of steam.
7-2. CLEANING THE GROUP HEAD AND SHOWER SCREENS
- Remove the filter holder from the group head and clean the group's gasket using the brush (16) provided.
- Place the blind filter (24) provided in the filter holder (11).
- Add a spoonful of coffee machine cleaning powder and insert the filter
holder into the group head.
- Use the lever (15) to start dispensing. Stop dispensing after approximately 15-20 seconds.
- Repeat the dispensing action 10 times to ensure that impurities are properly removed.
•After removing the filter holder from the group, activate the dispenser several times to remove any residue from the shower screen and the group.

After a long period of inactivity, it is advisable to run a little water through the machine and the nozzles and wands to remove any deposits.
7-3. CLEANING THE FILTERS AND FILTER HOLDERS
- Place approximately one litre of boiling water and four teaspoons of coffee machine cleaner in a suitable container. Immerse the filters and filter holders (not the handle) in the solution for 20-30 minutes. Then rinse thoroughly under running water.
7-4. CLEANING THE LOWER DRIP TRAY Remove the lower drip tray (12) and clean it. Then rinse under running water.
7-5. CLEANING THE OUTSIDE OF THE MACHINE
To keep exterior surfaces in good condition, clean them regularly with a soft, damp cloth.
7-6. REPLACING THE GROUP HEAD SEAL (FIG. 4)
It is recommended to replace the group head gasket when:
- The filter holder handle extends well beyond the central position.
- Despite the lack of coffee residue on
the edge of the filter and on the gasket itself, coffee drips from the edges during dispensing.
To replace it, proceed as follows:
- Make sure that the machine is switched off and disconnect the power cable.
- Remove the gasket (G) and the shower screen (F), using a flat screwdriver as a lever.
•After having removed the gasket and shower screen, clean the seat properly before installing the new components. - Once the new components have been installed, insert the filter holder, without the filter, into the group head and move it in order to seat the gasket.
7-7. REPLACING THE TANK FILTER
The coffee machine water filter improves the quality of the water used by reducing limescale, thus enhancing the flavour and preserving the aroma of the coffee. It also improves the machine's performance and efficiency by preventing malfunctions caused by limescale.
Proceed as follows:
- Remove the filter from the package.
- Rotate the date disc to display the next two months of use.

The filter lasts for two months (50 l) with normal use. However, if the machine remains unused with the filter installed, it will last for a maximum of 3 weeks.
•To activate the filter, run tap water into the filter hole (see Figure 6) until water comes out steadily. Leave it for at least one minute (500ml).
- Remove the tank from the machine and fill it with water.
- Insert the filter into the tank, ensuring it is fully submerged for about ten seconds. Tilt the filter to allow any air bubbles to escape. While it is still immersed in water, gently press the filter to expel any trapped air.
- Insert the filter into the correct position and push it in fully.
- Put the lid back on the tank and put it back in the machine.
- Finally, follow the procedure described in section 5.7.
