Installation
Work surface
Choose a clean work surface on which to place the appliance. A minimum 20 cm distance should be maintained between the appliance and any surfaces that are not heat-resistant. For optimum user comfort, the top of the plates must be positioned between 85 cm and 95 cm off the ground. If this appliance must be placed in close proximity to a wall, partition, kitchen furniture, decorative borders, etc., they should be of non-flammable material. If not, they should be covered by appropriate heat insulating, non-combustible material, with particular attention paid to fire prevention regulations.
Electrical connection
The appliances must be connected to a single-phase 220-240 V mains power supply, a two-pin socket + a 16 Amp earth contact. It is shipped with a HO7RNF-type power cable with three conductors (phase + neutral + earth) with a 1.5 mm ^2 section.
Use
You do not need to “season” the Krampouz enamelled cast iron plate before using it for the first time.
Before the first use, clean the plate in clean water and wipe using a clean cloth.
Greasing and wiping the plate
During the first use, we recommend light greasing of the plate by directly applying a teaspoon of sunflower oil and then spreading it with a suitable brush or pad (do not soak the pad in a container of oil). You may notice some smoking: this is completely normal. If the batter sticks, you can lightly oil the plate again. Between cooking each crêpe, use a pad to wipe residues off the plate.
Necessary material
Here are the recommended accessories for making perfect preparations:
- A spreader (18 to 20 centimetres)
- ATE1 pad for greasing and wiping
- ATE2 pad refills
- A brush and water tray for cleaning the spreader
- A wooden or stainless steel spatula
- ASC4 small stainless steel angled spatula
-
Sunflower oil for greasing the plate
-
A container for the batter or an API3 stainless steel jug
- A measuring ladle

Wash the accessories before first use: use clean water for wooden accessories; use soapy water for other accessories (avoid using chlorine on stainless steel).
To ensure that the spreader (rozell) is safe for food contact, no glue is used in its construction. To fix the handle to the spreader, assemble both parts and immerse them in water for a few minutes. This will allow the wood to swell and join the parts together.
Use of the “Easy Crêp” spreading kit is not recommended on an enamelled plate.
Recipes:
BUCKWHEAT PANCAKES
To make 15 crêpes – Add 250 g of buckwheat flour to a bowl with 1 tablespoon of wheat flour, 1 teaspoon coarse salt, 1 egg and 12 cl of water. Beat into a compact ball. Add 12 cl of semi-skimmed milk, stir then beat for about 5 mins until you obtain a perfectly smooth batter. Gradually add 36 cl of milk.
WHEAT FLOUR PANCAKES
To make 20 crêpes – Add 1 tablespoon of buckwheat flour to a bowl together with 100-125 g of sugar (to taste), 1 level teaspoon of coarse salt, 2 eggs, 25 g of melted butter or 1 tablespoon of oil, 1 sachet of vanilla sugar or other flavours, and 10 cl of water. Beat all the ingredients together, gradually adding 250 g of wheat flour and 12 cl of semi-skimmed milk until you have a smooth batter with no lumps remaining. Next, stir in 38 cl of milk.
PANCAKES
To make 21 pancakes – Add 200 g of wheat flour into a bowl and mix together with 2 eggs, 1 tablespoon of sugar and 12 sachet of yeast (dissolved in a tablespoon of lukewarm milk). Gradually add 40 cl of milk.
Cooking
■ We recommend sunflower oil for greasing the plate.
- Cook at a temperature of approximately 200 °C/230 °C.
- Lightly grease the plate before cooking the next batch of crêpes / pancakes.
- To make a crêpe, pour a ladleful of batter onto the hot plate. Use the spreader to distribute the Krampouz batter.
■ To make pancakes, pour in enough batter to fill the moulds on the hot plate.
■ During cooking, wipe the plate to remove any cooking residue.
- If the appliance has been hot for an extended period without any service, lightly grease the plate before you use it again.
Practical Tips
- If the batter slips on the plate or sticks to the spreader: do not grease the plate, there is already too much fat on it. Bad batter can cause the same effect. Remove the excess oil.
■ If the batter just bubbles: either it is too runny, or it has gone bad, or else the plate is too hot. - If the plate just sticks: lightly grease with a little edible oil.
■ If filling crêpes directly on the plate where they were spread, always wipe the plate before spreading
the next crêpe.

Maintenance and Cleaning
Before cleaning, unplug the appliance and let it cool down.
Please read the general instructions for electrical equipment before using the appliance.
Necessary material
Here are the recommended accessories for cleaning and maintenance of the appliance:
- ATE1 pad for greasing and wiping
- APA1 abrasive stone
- A sponge
Outer casing
Clean the frame with a soft sponge soaked in warm water and a non-chlorinated liquid detergent.
Never use abrasive products or metal brushes.
Do not clean the appliance with a water spray.
Do not immerse the appliance in water.
Due to the operating temperature, it is normal for the stainless steel of the frame to darken over time.
Plate
After use, clean the plate using washing up liquid and a soft sponge or scouring pad depending on the build-up of residues, then rinse. Do not wash the plate.
When fat deposits build up on the plate during use, allow the plate to cool down, then clean by applying light pressure as you rub the abrasive stone. Wipe using a damp sponge and a cloth.
CAUTION: Never abruptly cool a hot plate.
Never use a hand-held electrical device to sand the plate on the crêpe maker as this will damage the enamel layer irreparably.
