Lighting a Burner
Use the following procedure to light a burner on a Gas Crepe Maker.
- Make sure the unit is connected properly to the gas supply, the restraining system is in place, and the gas shutoff valve is open. See the INSTALLATION section for details.
- When lighting the unit for the first time after gas hook-up:
a. Push in and turn the Temperature Control counterclockwise to the maximum setting of "10".
b. Hold the Temperature Control for five seconds to flush air from the gas tubing through the burner.
c. Release the Temperature Control. - Turn the Temperature Control clockwise to setting "5".
- Push in and hold the Temperature Control; then push the Ignition Button.
- Verify that the burner has ignited. If not, push the Ignition Button again.
- Continue holding in the Temperature Control for ten seconds to activate the safety thermocouple.
- Release the Temperature Control and allow the unit to heat for approximately five minutes. CAUTION: BURN HAZARD—Some exterior surfaces on unit will get hot. Avoid unnecessary contact with unit.
- Turn the Temperature Control clockwise to the lowest setting of "1". The unit is now ready for use.
Seasoning the Griddle(s)
Use the following procedure to season the cast iron griddle(s) before using the Crepe Maker for the first time. This procedure will take approximately 1 to 1-1/2 hours.
NOTE: Perform the seasoning procedure in a well ventilated area—preferably underneath an extraction hood. A substantial amount of smoke will be generated, which is normal.

- Allow the oil to cook for 5–10 minutes, until the smoke disappears.
- The griddle will smoke as the oil cooks into the surface. The smoke will decrease and disappear as the oil drys on the surface.
- Perform steps 4–6 of this procedure an additional three (3) times.
- Perform steps 4–6 of this procedure five (5) more times, but decrease the amount of oil to 1/2 teaspoon.
- As the griddle surface is seasoned, it gradually will turn a darker brown and will develop a shine.
- Wipe the griddle surface one final time without adding any additional oil.
- A properly seasoned griddle will look like it's varnished with a light chestnut color.
- Go to the "Operating the Unit" procedure in this section.
Operating the Unit
NOTE: Make sure to perform the "Seasoning the Griddle(s)" procedure before the first use of the Crepe Maker. Make sure to wash all accessories before their first use.
Startup
- Perform the "Lighting a Burner" procedure in this section, if necessary. WARNING! Never leave unit unattended during use.
- Turn the Temperature Control counterclockwise to temperature setting "5".

Adjusting the Low Setting
Adjustment to the low setting (setting "1") is necessary when converting a unit from one type of fuel to another. Proper adjustment to this setting is necessary to ensure that the burner flame does not go out when moving the Temperature Control rapidly between the highest and lowest setting. The low setting adjustment screw is located behind the Temperature Control knob.
- Perform the "Lighting a Burner" procedure in this section.
- Push in and turn the Temperature Control counterclockwise to the maximum setting of "10".
-
Leave the unit at this setting for 2–3 minutes.
-
Turn the Temperature Control clockwise to the lowest setting of "1".
-
Remove the Temperature Control knob by pulling straight out.
-
Using a small flat-bla screwdriver, make the appropriate changes to the adjustment screw setting:

de Knob- Turning the adjustment screw counterclockwise increases the flame height. Turning the adjustment screw clockwise decreases the flame height.
- For proper adjustment on the lowest setting, the flame should be approximately a half a pin head above each burner hole.

Adjustment Screw- For propane units: turn the adjustment screw fully clockwise.
- For natural gas units: while watching the burner flame beneath the griddle, turn the adjustment screw in 3/4-turn increments in the appropriate direction to reach the proper setting.
- Replace the Temperature Control knob.
Safety Thermocouple
To ensure safe operation of the gas crepe maker, the end of the safety thermocouple must be positioned in the flame 1-1/16" (27 mm) above the mounting bracket.
Ignition Spark Plug
For proper ignition of the burner, make sure the ignition spark plug is positioned 1/8" (3 mm) above the safety thermocouple.
