General Safety information

PLEASE NOTE

Please observe the following general safety notices with regard to the safe handling of the device.

• Examine the device for any visible external damages prior to using it. Never put a damaged device into operation.
  This device can be used by children aged 8 and above, and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or a lack of experience and / or knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the device in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
• Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children.
  Children are not allowed to play with the device.
  The device and its connecting cable must be kept away from children who are less than 8 years old.
  Only customer service departments authorized by the manufacturer may carry out repairs on the device, as otherwise the guarantee entitlements will be null and void in the event of any subsequent damages. Improperly performed repairs can cause considerable dangers for the user.

PLEASE NOTE

Defective components must always be replaced with original replacement parts. Only such parts will guarantee that the safety requirements are fulfilled.
- Do not use the device if you have a cardiac pacemaker or any other implanted medical device. The electrical current through your body may impair the functioning of your implant.
Do not use the device if you are pregnant.
- Protect the scales against knocks, moisture and dust and do not drop them.
Tipping hazard! Never stand on an outer edge of the scales.
Danger of slipping! Do not step on the device with wet feet. Do not step on the scales if their surface is damp. Do not step on the device in socks.
Overloading will damage the sensor.
Do not put heavy objects on the scales when not in use.
- Please do not jump on the scales or drop them, as they are a precision device.

Transport inspection

WARNING

Do not allow children to play with packaging materials due to risk of suffocation.

PLEASE NOTE

Examine the shipment to ensure the unit and manual are included and inspect the unit for any visible damage.
Immediately notify the carrier and/or the supplier about an incomplete shipment or any damage as a result of inadequate packaging or mishandling.

Setup location requirements

In order to ensure the safe and trouble-free operation of the device, the setup location must fulfil I the following prerequisites:

• To avoid measurement deviations due to variations in the surface underneath the scales, always place them on a flat, hard, stable surface and in the same location.
• Do not set up the device in a hot, wet or extremely damp environment or near flammable material.

Please read the information contained herein so that you can become familiar with your device quickly and take advantage of the full scope of its functions. Your appliance will serve you for many years if you handle it and care for it properly. We wish you a lot of pleasure in using it!

These operating instructions are a component of the Bathroom weighing scales CASO BodyEnergy Fit (referred to hereafter as the Device) and provide you with important information for the initial commissioning, safety, intended use and care of the device. The Operating Instructions must be available at all times at the device. This Operating Manual must be read and applied by every person who is instructed to work with the device:

- Troubleshooting and/or - Cleaning

Keep the Operating Manual in a safe place and pass it on to the subsequent owner along with the device.

All the technical information, data and notices with regard to the installation, operation and care are completely up-to-date at the time of printing and are compiled to the best of our knowledge and belief, taking our past experience and findings into consideration. To unpack the device, proceed as follows: Remove the device out of the carton and remove the packaging material.

PLEASE NOTE

3 Operation and Handling

This chapter provides you with important information and notes on the operation and basic settings of the appliance.

3.1 General tips and information

• Wherever possible, weigh yourself at the same time every day (preferably in the morning), after going to the toilet, before you eat and without clothes. This will allow you to compare readings.
• After getting up, wait for approx. 15 minutes before you weigh yourself so that the water in your body can distribute itself evenly.
• Stand up straight and keep still during the weighing process. Exert even pressure on the surface of the scales.
• Important when measuring weight: Your weight can only be measured if you are barefoot. If necessary, you can slightly moisten the soles of your feet. If the soles of your feet are completely dry or the skin is very hard, then this can result in unsatisfactory results because conductivity will be impaired.
• Your long-term weight development is most important. Short-term deviations within the space of a few days are usually caused by loss of fluids.
• Please note that these scales are not certified for professional, medical use and that measurements may vary (tolerance) for technical reasons.

3.1.1 Measuring your body fat percentage

• These scales use the B.I.A. method, bioelectrical impedance analysis. A weak, safe electrical current is passed through your body and the level of resistance to the current is measured. Fatty tissue will be more resistant, while the signal passes through lean body mass more easily. In combination with your height, weight, age and gender, the resistance measurement can be used to calculate body fat and body water percentages. Please note that the body measurements obtained by the device are only an approximation of actual analytical medical data. Exact calculation of body fat, body water, muscle mass and other body parameters can only be carried out by a specialist doctor using medical methods.
• Any diet or treatment for over- or underweight must be accompanied by competent advice from corresponding specialists (e.g. a doctor).
• Body fat calculations for children, competitive athletes or people with medical/ physical impairments (e.g. oedema symptoms; osteoporosis; on cardiovascular or vascular-changing medication; signifi cant anatomic deviations in the leg area) may result in imprecise or improbable results.
• If you have insufficient blood flow in your legs; venous stasis which is too high; vascular constriction or extensive oedemas of the leg, then calculation of your heart frequency may result in imprecise or improbable results.

3.2 Operation of the device

3.2.1 Installation site

To avoid measurement deviations due to variations in the surface underneath the scales, always place them on a flat, hard, stable surface and in the same location.

3.2.2 Turning on the device

1. Press the "Power" button (3) several times with your foot or hand until the dynamo mechanism is fully charged.
2. The battery symbol on the control panel display shows charging progress.
3. When the control panel shows "0.0 kg", you can weigh yourself.
4. The device will switch off automatically after approx. 2.5 minutes.

3.2.3 How to save user data

To measure your body fat percentage and other data, you must save your personal user data. The device has 4 user memories which can, for example, be used to save and access your family members' personal settings.

1. Press the "Power" button (3) several times to turn on the device.
2. Select the user identi fication number 3 or and press the number for a few seconds.
3. Use the 2 button to select the desired gender (Male/Female).
4. Confirm your selection by pressing the button.
5. Use the 2 button to select the desired weighing unit (kg or lb).
6. Confirm your selection by pressing the button.
7. Use the 1+ or 2- button to set the desired height (100-220cm/3ft-3in-7ft-3in).
8. Confirm your selection by pressing the 3 button again.
9. Use the 1 or 2 button to set the desired age (10-80).
10. Press the 32 button again to save the user data.

PLEASE NOTE

If you need to make a correction, use the button to go back to the previous step.

3.2.4 Weighing and measuring

1. Selected the desired user identifi cation number.
2. Step onto the weighing platform electrodes with bare feet.
3. Stand still and distribute your weight evenly.
4. You will see "0..." move from left to right across the control panel display while the measurement analysis is being carried out.
5. Remain on the scales until the display shows your weight.

4 Cleaning and Maintenance

This chapter provides you with important notices with regard to cleaning and maintaining the device. Please observe the notices to prevent damages due to cleaning the device incorrectly and to ensure trouble-free operation.

4.1 Safety information

ATTENTION

Please observe the safety instructions, before cleaning your device:

Never immerse the scale into water or other liquid. Do not put it in the dishwasher.
If moisture penetrates the unit's housing, it can damage the electronic components. Please ensure that no moisture enters the device.
Do not use any hard or abrasive cleaning agents.
Do not attempt to scrape off stubborn grime with hard or abrasive tools.

4.2Cleaning

Clean the weighing platform with a soft damp cloth. Make sure that you also clean the adjustable feet on the bottom of the device.

5 Troubleshooting

This chapter provides you with important notices with regard to operating the device. Observe the following notices to avoid dangers and damages:

5.1 Safetynotices

ATTENTION

Repairs of electrical appliances must be carried out by qualified person who are trained by the manufacturer.
Repairs performed by untrained persons may result in considerable hazards for the user and damage the machine.

5.2Troubleshootingtable

If an error occurs, then an error code will appear on the control panel display. It describes the reason for the error.

Display Description

Low batteries. The device will switch off automatically after a few seconds. Press the "Power" button several times to re-start the device.
Err	The scales are overloaded.
Err2	There is no skin contact with the electrodes. Step onto the electrodes with bare feet. Stand still and distribute your weight evenly.
----	User data could not be found. Enter your user data.
The control panel display shows all the characters.	There is too much weight on the scales when they are turned on. Get off the scales and wait until the control panel shows "0.0 kg".

PLEASE NOTE

If you cannot solve the problem by carrying out the steps described above, our Customer Service will help you free of charge.
Clean the device before you send it to customer service.

6 Disposal of the Old Device

Old electric and electronic devices frequently still contain valuable materials. However, they also contain damaging substances, which were necessary for their functionality and safety. If these were put in the non-recyclable waste or were handled incorrectly, they could be detrimental to human health and the environment. Therefore, do not put your old device into the non-recyclable waste under any circumstances.

PLEASE NOTE

Utilise the collection point, established in your town, to return and recycle old electric and electronic devices. If necessary, contact your town hall, local refuse collection service or your dealer for information.
Ensure that your old device is stored safely away from children until it is taken away.

6.1 Disposal of the packaging

The packaging protects the device against damages during transit. The packaging materials are selected in accordance with environmentally compatible and recycling-related points of view and can therefore be recycled. Returning the packaging back to the material loop saves raw materials and reduces the

quantities of accumulated waste. Take any packaging materials that are no longer required to "Green Dot" recycling collection points for disposal.

7Guarantee

We provide a 24-month guarantee for defects caused by production or material faults, beginning on the date of purchase. Our guarantee is valid for Germany, Austria and the Netherlands. For all other countries, please contact us.

Your legal guarantee claims as per Art. 437 ff. German Civil Code (BGB) will remain unaffected by this. You may exercise your statutory guarantee rights free of charge. The guarantee does not cover damage caused by improper handling or use of the product or defects which have only a minor impact on the product's functionality or value. In addition to this, the guarantee also excludes parts which are subject to wear and tear; transport damages insofar as we are not responsible for them and damages caused by repairs which were not carried out by us.

This product has been constructed for non-commercial use (domestic use) and its performance is designed to meet the corresponding needs. The guarantee only covers commercial use insofar as it is comparable to domestic use. The product is not intended for any other type of commercial use.

In the case of legitimate complaints we may either repair the defective product or replace it with a defect-free product at our discretion. Obvious defects must be notified to us within 14 days of the product's delivery. Any further claims are excluded.

When making a guarantee claim please contact us before you return the product (always with the purchase receipt!). Our contact details ("Guarantor") are provided at the beginning of this instruction manual.
