3 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

• The scale switches off after a few seconds. Check the batteries for correct polarity and if they are new. Ensure that your foot has a good contact with the metal surface.

• Is something wrong when "-" appears on the display? The scale will automatically auto-zero. Please wait a few seconds until "0" appears on the display. In the scale a parameter has been stored. Please enter your data in the scale.

• The scale only shows the weight. Body fat percentage hasn't been found? The measurement of the body fat percentage can be disturbed by not standing still on the scale. Please stand still and upright and ensure that your feet are bare and in good contact with the metal surface of the scale.

• The body fat percentage is much higher than normal? Please check the data programmed in the scale in respect of sex, size and age. Ensure that you step on the scale with bare, clean and dry feet so that your feet are in good contact with the metal surface. Excessive water loss, stress or horny skin of the foot can influence the measurement of the body fat percentage. 4 Getting Started This chapter will guide you through safely unpacking and setting up your new unit.

4.1 Safety information

Carefully remove the packaging material and unit from the carton.

4.4 Disposal of the packaging

Caso believes in the importance of recycling and has selected packaging materials that not only protect your unit from damage during transit, but can be recycled to minimize ecological impact. Recycling the packaging materials preserves raw materials and reduces waste. • The scale operates with 4 x 1.5 V batteries. These are not included in the delivery scope.

5 Rating plate The rating plate with the performance data can be founded on the back of the device 6 Operation This chapter provides important information on operating the device. Follow the instructions in order to avoid danger and damage.

6.1 What is body fat percentage?

The body fat percentage is derived from the ratio between body weight and body fat.

6.2 Measurement of the body fat percentage

To determine the body fat percentage, the BIA-method (bioelectrical impedance analysis) has been developed. The resistance of the body is measured while a small and harmless electric current is sent through the body. The resistance is higher in adipose tissue while the current flows more easily in fat-free mass. Due to the measurement of resistance with the body size of the person, its age and sex, it is possible to estimate the percentage of fat and water of the body. The percentage of fat is influenced by the hydration of the body. Some hours after standing up, the percentage of body fat is influenced by the supply of water. And when you measure yourself at different times of the day, you will also realize a slight difference between the measured data.caso Personenwaage Body Fit 9 With this method measurements under consistent conditions (same time of the day and same measurement conditions) will lead to best results. The percentage of body fat is also influenced by other factors like type of nutrition or heavy training.

Ensure that the device is placed on a level surface. Avoid carpets or soft flooring.

6.4 Definition of switches

Press the switch to increase data or to change setting of sex. Press the switch to confirm your data entry. Press the switch to reduce the data or change setting of sex. Press the Up/down switch for a longer period when you want to set the parameter as quick as possible.

6.5 Selection of the weight and size units

Press the switch for the change of the weight and size unit on the rear of the device. Before weighing, select the weight unit. During use, it is not possible to change between the units.caso Personenwaage Body Fit 10

You can switch on the scale via the Set, Up and Down switches at the bottom of the device.

The scale switches off automatically after about 5 seconds.

Note ► Please don't stand on the scale during setting Step 1: Please select your personal number (PO-P9) and enter the body parameters (sex, size, age), before you step on the scale. Otherwise the scale can only measure your weight, but not the correct percentage of water and fat. Step 2: You only have to enter the data once. The scale will store your data. Please remember the selected personal number. Later you only have to select the number. Step3. Press the (Up) or (Down) switch in order to select your number and then press SET to confirm your selection.

Step 4: Selection of sex: Press the (Up) or (Down) switch in order to select your sex and then press SET to confirm your selection. Step 5: Enter size: Press the (Up) or (Down) switch in order to select your size and then press SET to confirm your selection. 6.9 Weighing and measuring:

Step 7: Weighing and measuring When "0,0" appears on the display, step bare-footed on the scale. Your feet must stand evenly on the electrodes as shown in the picture. In the first step your weight is measured. If 0 appears on the display, this means that the scale is analysing the data. Please remain on the scale.
