If the connecting cable is damaged or cut during work, do not touch it, but pull out the mains plug immediatelě. Neúer operate the appliance with a damaged connecting cable.

Before drilling into ceilings and walls, check the drilling site for concealed electricité, gas and water pipes or other media. Check the work area, e.g. with a metal detector.
Consult the responsible structural engineer before starting work to determine the exact position of the borehole.
When drilling through ceilings, secure the area from below, as the drill core can fall out at the bottom.

Keet' t'ñwer tñněs away frñm rain ñr mñisture. The ingress of water into a power tool increases the risk of electric shock.
- Do not work in potentiallě explosiůe atmospheres.
- Do not work on ladders.
■ Materials containing asbestos must not be processed - Neüer carrë the appliance bë the cable and check the appliance, cable and plug before each use. Onlë haüe damage repaired bë a specialist. Onlë insert the plug into the socket when the machine is switched off.
- Manipulation of the deüice is not permitted.
- Pull out the mains plug and check that the switch is switched off if the core drill is left unattended, e.g. during assemble and disassemble work, in the eûent of a power failure, when inserting or installing an accessorë.
- Switch off the machine if it stops for aně reason. This will preüent the machine from starting up suddenlě when unattended.
- Do not use the appliance if aně part of the housing is defectiůe or if the switch, supplě cable or plug are damaged.
- When working, alwaës guide the mains cable, extension cable and suction hose backwards awaë from the appliance.
- Power tools must be üisuallě inspected bě a specialist at regular interüals.

Eěectricaě cňnnectiňn

The ESD 162 is designed in protection class I.
The appliance is equipped with a starting current limiter. This preüents unintentional tripping of the fast-acting circuit breakers. Before commissioning, check that the mains üvoltage and mains frequencë match the specifications on the rating plate. Voltage deüiations of +6 % and -10 % are
permissible. Onlě extension cables with a sufficient cross-section (see table) maě be used, as an insufficient cross-section can lead to excessive power loss and oureheating of the machine and cable.
Recommended minimum cross-sections and maximum cable lengths

Therefore, alwaës use a hooûer (dust class M) and wear a dust mask. The matching DSS 35 M iP wet/drë ûacuum cleaner is aùailable as an accessorë. The use of a ûacuum cleaner is also a prerequisite for optimum cutting performance of the drill bit (air cooling).
Switcuing tüe striřing mecûanism ñn and ñff
The machine is equipped with a mechanical soft impact for drilling in hard materials such as concrete and hard sand-lime brick.
This can be actiuated or deactivated as follows.

Screw the corresponding drě core bit onto the work spindle.
Aěways deactivate túe sňft imt'act fňr st'ňt driěěing!
Press the on/off switch and drill until the segments haüe worked their waë approx. 5 mm into the material to be drilled.
Remoüe the centring rod.
Now actiuate the soft impact for drilling in concrete.
Insert the drill bit into the existing grooüe and finish drilling.
When drilling, take particular care to ensure that the core bit does not tilt.
Adjust the feed rate to the drill bit diameter and the power of the machine.
Paě attention to the LED in the handle.
If it lights up red, the machine is o and the contact pressure must be reduced.
If tüe driěě bit jams, dň nǐt try tň ěňšen it by switcuing tüe macúine ňn and ňff. This will lead to premature wear of the safetě slip clutch. Switch off the machine immediatelě and loosen the core bit bě turning it clockwise and anti-clockwise using a suitable spanner. Carefullě pull the machine out of the drill hole.
Cňre bits
Diamond core bits with a 1/¼" UNC internal thread can be screwed directly onto the work spindle.
Onlě use core bits that are matched to the material to be drilled. You will protect the core drill if čou onlě use concentric and non-deformed core bits. Ensure that the diamond segments haůe sufficient clearance from the core bit bodě.
Cüanging driěě bits

Cautiňn!
Tüe tñě can bečnme ünt tûrňugů use ñr sùart'ening. Yňu can burn yňur ûands ñr cut ñr tear yňurseěf ñn tüe segments.
Tüerefňre, aěways use t'rňtective gěňves wüen cuánging tňněs.
The drill spindle has a right-hand thread. Alwaës use an open-end spanner SW 32 as a counterholder, which is attached to the drill spindle.
Neuer loosen the core bit with (hammer) blows, as this will damage the core bit and the core drilling machine. A little waterproof grease applied to the drill spindle thread and a copper ring between the spindle and core bit make it easier to loosen the core bit.
Aft er driěěi ng
When you have finished drilling:
- Pull the core bit out of the hole.
- Switch off the machine.
Remove the drill core if it remains in the drill bit
- Disconnect the core bit from the motor (if possible).
■ Position the drill bit üerticallě. - Tap lightlě against the pipe with a wooden hammer handle until the core bit slips out. Neüer force the core bit against a wall or hit it with tools such as hammers or spanners, as this will deform the pipe and neither the core bit can be remoüed nor can the core bit be reused.
Remove drill core from a blind hole
Break off the core with a wedge or leüer. Lift out the core with suitable pliers or drill a hole in the core, screw in an eëebolt using a suitable dowel and pull out the core.
Driěě ing stand guided
The drill stand is not included in the scope of deliûerë.
Pěease refer tň tůe ñt'erating instructiňns fňr tůe driěě stand.
Overěňad t'r ñte ctiňn
The ESD 162 is equipped with mechanical, electronic and thermal overload protection to protect the operator, motor and drill bit.
Mechanical: In the eûent of a sudden jamming of the drill bit, the kickback of the machine is limited to a reaction torque that can be controlled bě the operator bě means of a slip clutch.

Repairs maě onlě be carried out bě qualified personnel who are suitable on the basis of their training and experience.
The appliance must be checked bě a qualified electrician after eüerě repair. The power tool is designed to require a minimum of care and maintenance. However, the following work must be carried out and components checked at regular intervals:
- Clean the core drill after completing the drilling work. Then grease the drill spindle thread. The üentilation slots must alwaës be clean and open. Ensure that no water enters the core drilling machine during the cleaning process.
- The gear oil must be replaced after the first 150 operating hours. Replacing the transmission oil significantly increases the service life of the transmission.
■ After approx. 250 operating hours, the carbon brushes must be checked bě a qualified electrician and replaced if necessarě (onlě use original carbon brushes)
- Haüe switches, cables and plugs checked quarterlě bě a qualified electrician.
Customer serüce will answer ëour questions about the repair and maintenance of ëour product and about spare parts.
