The operating instructions constitute part of this product. They contain important information on safety, use and disposal. Before using the product, famil- iarise yourself with all of the operating and safety instructions. Use the product only as described and for the applications speci- ed. Intended purpose The device is intended for drilling screws in and out in wood, metal or plastic. Any other use that is not explicitly approved in these in- structions may result in damage to the equip- ment and represent a serious danger to the user. The manufacturer cannot be held liable for damage when the device is not used in conformity with its intended purpose or due to incorrect operation. This equipment is not suitable for commercial use. General Safety Instructions for Power Tools WARNING! Read all safety no- tices, instructions, illustrations and technical data that have been provided with this power tool. Failure to comply with these and the following instructions may result in electric shock, re and/or serious inju- ries. Save all safety instructions and guidelines for the future. The term “power tool” used in the safety instructions refers to mains-operated power tools (with a mains cable) and to battery-ope- rated power tools (without a mains cable).
1) Occupational Safety
a) Keep your work area tidy and well lit. Working in areas that are untidy or without lighting can result in accidents. b) Do not work with the power tool in a potentially explosive atmosphere where fl ammable liquids, gases or dust are pre- sent. Power tools generate sparks that can ignite dust or vapours. c) Keep children and other per- sons away from the area while the power tool is in use. Distrac- tions can cause you to lose control of the power tool .
2) Electrical safety
Caution: This is how to avoid acci- dents and injuries from an electric shock:20 GB MT tools if you are tired or you are under the infl uence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention whilst using the power tool can result in serious injuries. b) Wear personal protective equipment and safety goggles at all times. Wearing personal protective equipment such as a dust mask, non-slip safety shoes, hard hat or ear protection, according to the type and use of the power tool, redu- ces the risk of injury. c) Avoid starting the power tool unintentionally. Ensure that the power tool is switched off be- fore you connect it to the power supply, pick it up or carry it and/or before you connect the rechargeable battery. Having your nger on the switch of the power tool while carrying it, or having the power tool switched on when connec- ting it to the power supply can cause accidents. d) Remove adjustment tools or spanners away from the area before switching on the power tool. A tool or key located in a rota- ting piece of equipment can lead to injuries. e) Avoid an abnormal body po- sture. Ensure that your footing is secure and keep your balan- ce at all times. This will help you to have better control of the power tool in unexpected situations. f) Wear suitable clothing. Do not wear loose clothing or jewel- lery. Keep hair, clothes and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothing, jewellery or long hair may get caught in moving parts. a) The plug of the power tool must fi t into the socket. The plug must not be modifi ed in any way. Do not use adapter plugs with po- wer tools that have a protective earth. Unmodi ed plugs and mat- ching sockets reduce the risk of electric shock. b) Avoid body contact with earthed surfaces such as pipes, radiators, cookers and refrige- rators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed. c) Do not expose the power tool to rain or wet conditions. The penetration of water into a power tool increases the risk of electric shock. d) Never use the power cable to carry or hang the power tool or to pull the plug out of the socket. Keep the power cable away from heat, oil, sharp edges and moving parts. Dama- ged or untidy power cables increase the risk of electric shock. e) If you are working outdoors with the power tool, only use extension cables that are suita- ble for outdoors. Using an exten- sion cable that is suitable for outdoors reduces the risk of electric shock. f) If operation of the power tool in a damp environment is unavoi- dable, please use a fault-current circuit breaker. The use of a fault- current circuit breaker reduces the risk of an electric shock.
3) Safety of persons
a) Pay attention! Be aware of what you are doing and take the ut- most care when working with a power tool. Do not use power21 MTGB g) If dust extraction and collection devices can be installed, make sure that these are connected and used correctly. Using a dust collector can reduce hazards caused by dust. h) Do not allow yourself to be lulled into a false feeling of se- curity and do not disregard the safety rules for power tools, even if you are familiar with the power tool after using it many times. Careless action can lead to serious injuries within a frac- tion of a second.
4) Use and treatment of the
power tool a) Do not overload the power tool. Use the correct power tool for the job in hand. With the right po- wer tool, you can work better and more safely within the speci ed power range. b) Do not use the power tool with a damaged cable. A power tool that no longer switches on or off is dangerous and must be repaired. c) Remove the plug from the wall socket and/or remove the re- chargeable battery before you change the device’s settings, change accessories or put away the power tool.These safety measures prevent accidentally starting the power tool. d) Store unused power tools out of reach of children. Do not al- low persons to use the power tool who are not familiar with it or who have not read the operating instructions. Power tools can be dangerous if operated by inexperienced persons. e) Look after the power tool and accessories carefully. Check that the moving parts are wor- king properly and are not be- coming jammed and that parts are not broken or damaged in such a way that the function- ing of the device is impaired. Have damaged parts repaired before using thepower tool. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools. f) Keep cutting tools sharp and cle- an. Carefully maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to get jammed and are easier to work with. g) Use the power tool, accessories etc. in accordance with these operating instructions. Take into account the working con- ditions and the work to be car- ried out. Using the power tool for anything other than its intended use can lead to dangerous situations. h) Keep handles and grip surfaces dry, clean and free from oil and grease. Slippery handles and grip surfaces do not permit safe ope- ration and control over the power tool in unexpected situations.
5) Use and treatment of this
battery-powered tool a) Only recharge batteries using chargers recommended by the manufacturer. If a charger that has been designed for a particular type of battery is used to charge other batte- ries, there is a risk of re. b) Only use batteries that are in- tended for the power tool. The use of other batteries may create a re hazard and lead to injury.22 GB MT c) When not in use, keep batteries away from paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws or other small metal objects that could cause the contacts to be brid- ged. A short circuit between battery contacts can result in burns or a re. d) When misused, fl uid may leak from the battery. Avoid any contact with it. On accidental contact, wash in running water. If the fl uid comes into contact with the eyes, seek medical as- sistance also. Leaking battery fl uid can cause skin irritation or burns. e) Do not use damaged or altered batteries. Damaged or altered batte- ries can be unpredictable and lead to re, explosion or risk of injury. f) Do not expose batteries to fi re or elevated temperatures. Fire or temperatures over 130 °C can cause an explosion. g) Follow all instructions for char- ging and never charge the battery or the battery-powered tool outside the temperature range stated in the operating instructions. Incorrect charging or charging outside the permitted tempe- rature range may destroy the battery and increase the risk of re.
a) Only have qualifi ed personnel repair your power tool and only use original spare parts. This ensures the safety of the device is maintained. b) Never repair damaged batte- ries. All battery repairs should be car- ried out by the manufacturer or authori- sed customer service centres only.
7) Further safety instructions
a) Hold the power tool by the insulated handle grips when performing work in which the screw may come into contact with hidden wiring. Contact with a live wire can also cause a charge in metal parts of the device and result in an electric shock. b) Suitable for indoor use only. c) The housing must under no circum- stances be opened. d) Lithium-ion batteries should only be charged within the ambient tempera- ture range stipulated in the instruction manual. Charging at very low tem- peratures (e.g. under 0˚C) or very high temperatures (e.g. above 45˚C) can lead to major safety issues with the battery.
8) Special safety directions for
battery-operated tools a) To reduce the electric shock haz- ard, unplug the battery charger from the mains before cleaning the charger. b) Do not subject the cordless screw- driver to strong sunlight over long periods and do not leave it on a heater. Heat damages the battery and there is a risk of explosion. c) Allow a hot cordless screwdriver to cool before charging. d) Do not open up the cordless screwdriver and avoid mechani- cal damage to the battery. Risk of short circuit and fumes may be emitted that irritate the res- piratory tract. Ensure fresh air and seek medical assistance in the event of discomfort. After eye/skin contact,23 MTGB rinse the affected areas with water or a neutraliser and consult a doctor.
Even if properly operating and handling this electric tool, some residual risks will remain. Due to its construction and build, this electric tool may present the following hazards: a) Cuts b) Ear damage if working without ear protection. c) Damage to your health caused by swinging your hands and arms when operating the appliance for longer pe- riods of time or if the unit is not held or maintained properly. Warning! During operation, this electric tool generates an electro- magnetic eld which, under cer- tain circumstances, may impair the functionality of active or pas- sive medical implants. To reduce the risk of serious or lethal inju- ries, we recommend that persons with medical implants consult their doctor and the manufacturer of their medical implant before operating the machine. Charging the battery Do not expose the battery to extreme conditions such as heat or impact. Risk of injury from escaping electrolytic so- lution! After eye/skin contact, rinse the affected areas with water or a neutraliser and consult a doctor. Charge the battery in a dry room only. There is a risk of injury due to elec- tric shock. The device may only be charged with the charger ordered from us – order number 80001043 for the EU or order number 80001044 for the UK.
- The device may only be powered with SELV (Safety Extra Low Voltage) as marked on the device.
- Charge the battery before the rst time of use.
- Always take heed of the applicable safety instructions as well as the envi- ronmental protection regulations and information.
- The warranty excludes all defects caused by improper handling. Recharging the battery
1. Connect the USB-C charging cable (11)
2. Connect the USB-C charging cable (11)
to the charging socket (6) of the device.
Plug the power adapter into a socket.
4. Once charging is complete, disconnect
the power adapter from the mains supply. The battery indicator (5) lights up: 1 LED illuminated (red): Charging started 2 LEDs are on (red-yellow): Battery approx. half charged 3 LEDs illuminated (red-yellow-green): Battery is fully charged 1 LED fl ashing (yellow): Battery overheated24 GB MT Checking the battery charge level The battery’s charge level is indicated by the charge state indicator (5). The state of charge of the battery is dis- played by illuminating the appropriate LED lights. In order to activate the display, the on/off switch (9) must be pressed. 3 LEDs are on (red, yellow, green): Battery charged 2 LEDs are on (red, yellow): Battery partially charged 1 LED illuminated (red): Battery low 1 LED fl ashing (red): Battery needs to be charged. (Battery charge level below 10%) Starting up Before the starting up must the transport safety (1) removed. Open the transport safety (1) and remove the transport safety of the bit holder (3). Operation Switching on/off Press the on/off switch (9) to start the de- vice. To turn it off, release the on-off button. If you move the direction switch (8) to the middle position, the device is secured against being switched on. The LED lamp can continue to be used by activating the switch block. 1. Push the slide of the interchangeable
cordless screwdriver (4) forward.
2. Turn the bit changeable drum (14) to
the left or right until the desired bit is located on top and is in line with the bit holder (3). The bit changeable drum engages audibly.
3. Push the slide of the interchangeable cord-
less screwdriver (4) to the back. Only grab the side of the slide of the interchangeable cordless screwdriver. Caution, risk of injury caused by pinching! The selected bit is automatically xed in the bit holder ( 3).25 MTGB Bit change in the bit changeable drum Remove the bit (2) from the bit holder (3). Insert a suitable 6-point bit in the bit holder (3). Because of the 6-point bit holder, it may be that you need to rotate the bit slightly. Slide the bit right into the bit holder (3). The bit is held rmly by the duct and the mag- netic holder. Use extension bit holder Remove the current bit (2) from the bit holder (3). Insert the extension bit holder (12) into the bit holder (3). It may be that you need to rotate the extension bit holder (12) slightly because of the 6-point bit holder. Com- pletely insert the extension bit holder (12) into the bit holder (3). The extension bit holder (12) is held rmly by the duct and the magnetic holder. To remove the extension bit holder (12), sim- ply remove the extension bit holder from the bit holder (3). Cleaning and maintenance Contact our Service Centre about repairs and servicing not described in this manual. Only use OEM parts. Risk of injury! The following cleaning and servicing should be done regularly. This will ensure a long and reliable service life. Cleaning Do not spray the appliance with water and do not im- merse it in water. Electric shock hazard!
- Keep clean the ventilation slots, motor housing and handles of the appliance. Use a dry cloth or brush to do this. Do not use cleaning agents or solvents. You may otherwise irreparably damage the appliance. Maintenance The appliance is maintenance free. Storage
- The device may not be stored in a damp environment or in places with cor- rosive gases. Store the device in a dry location outside of the reach of children.
- Keep the surface of the device clean and only use a dry cloth for cleaning.
- The device must not be dismantled. If the device is damaged, contact the sup- plier or manufacturer.
- Store the battery only in a partially charged state. The state of charge should be 40 – 60 % over a longer stor- age period.
- During a longer storage period, check the state of charge of the battery and recharge if necessary roughly every 3months.
- Store the device between 0°C and 45°C. Avoid extreme cold or heat during storage so that the batteries do not lose power.26 GB MT Disposal/environmental protection Remove the battery from the device (see in- structions for removing the battery) and re- cycle the device, battery, accessories and packaging in an environmentally-friendly manner. Electrical devices do not belong in domestic waste. Do not throw batteries into domestic waste, re (risk of explosion) or wa- ter. Damaged batteries can harm the environment and your health if poisonous fumes or liquids escape. Directive 2012/19/EU on waste electrical and electronic equipment: Used electrical devices must be collected separately for disposal and recycled in an environmental- ly sound manner. Depending on the implementation in national law, you may have the following options:
- Return to a shop: Food retailers with a total sales area of at least 800 square metres that offer electric and electronic devices multiple times a year or perma- nently and distribute them on the market are obligated to take back old electric and electronic devices at no charge. When handing a new electric or electro- nic device to an end user, they have to take back an old device of the same kind from the end user that essentially ful ls the same functions as the new device at the site of handover or in the immediate vicinity at no charge as well as take back up to three old devices per device type with external dimensions no larger than 25 centimetres in the retail shop or the immediate vicinity at no charge without the purchase of an electric or electronic device at the request of the end customer.
- Hand over to an of cial collection point: Take the device to a recycling plant. The plastic and metal parts used on your de- vice can be properly sorted according to materials and grades and ef ciently re- cycled. Please contact our service centre for more information.
- Return to the manufacturer/distributor: We will dispose of any defective de- vices that you send to us free of charge. Please contact our service centre for more information. This does not affect accessories enclosed with the old devices or tools without any electrical components. Dispose of the batteries according to local standards. Defective or used batteries must be recycled in accordance with Directive 2006/66/EC. Hand in the batteries at a used battery collection point where they are recycled in an environmentally friend- ly manner. For more information, please contact your local waste management pro- vider or our service centre. Dispose of batteries in a discharged state. We recommend covering the contacts with an adhesive strip to protect against short circuits. Do not open the battery. Instructions for removing the battery Using an appropriate screwdriver, unscrew all the Phillips screws on the housing. Re- move the screws and open the housing. Now, using a wire cutter, cut the wire at the negative pole (black) rst, followed by the posi-tive pole (red). Remove the battery and dispose of it in accordance with local regulations.27 MTGB Guarantee Dear Customer, This equipment is provided with a 3-year guarantee from the date of purchase. In case of defects, you have statutory rights against the seller of the product. These statutory rights are not restricted by our guarantee presented below. Terms of Guarantee The term of the guarantee begins on the date of purchase. Please retain the original receipt. This document is required as proof of purchase. If a material or manufacturing defect occurs within three years of the date of purchase of this product, we will repair or replace – at our choice – the product for you free of charge. This guarantee requires the defec- tive equipment and proof of purchase to be presented within the three-year period with a brief written description of what consti- tutes the defect and when it occurred. If the defect is covered by our guarantee, you will receive either the repaired product or a new product. No new guarantee period be- gins on repair or replacement of the product. Guarantee Period and Statutory Claims for Defects The guarantee period is not extended by the guarantee service. This also applies for replaced or repaired parts. Any damages and defects already present at the time of purchase must be reported immediately af- ter unpacking. Repairs arising after expiry of the guarantee period are chargeable. Guarantee Cover The equipment has been carefully pro- duced in accordance with strict quality guidelines and conscientiously checked prior to delivery. The guarantee applies for all material and manufacturing defects. This guarantee does not extend to cover product parts that are subject to normal wear and may therefore be considered as wearing parts or to cover damage to breakable parts (e.g. bits). This guarantee shall be invalid if the prod- uct has been damaged, used incorrectly or not maintained. Precise adherence to all of the instructions speci ed in the operating manual is required for proper use of the product. Intended uses and actions against which the operating manual advises or warns must be categorically avoided. The product is designed only for private and not commercial use. The guarantee will be invalidated in case of misuse or improper handling, use of force, or inter- ventions not undertaken by our authorised service branch.
