How to connect the Soundmaster PL196H turntable?

Ensure the mains voltage corresponds to 230 V and 50 Hz. Plug the power cord into a properly installed and grounded wall socket.

How to play a 45 rpm record on the turntable?

Place the 45 rpm adapter (included) on the center of the turntable before placing the record. Select the 45 speed with the selector.

What to do if the record stops before the end of the last track?

The automatic stop can be disabled using the automatic stop switch located on the back of the device. If disabled, the platter continues to spin until manual stop.

How to connect the turntable to a hi-fi system?

Use RCA cables (not included) and connect the LINE OUT jack of the turntable to the auxiliary input of your hi-fi system. Note that the built-in speakers remain active; set their volume to minimum if you prefer the sound from the system.

How to use headphones with the turntable?

Connect headphones with a 3.5 mm jack plug to the headphone jack. The built-in speakers automatically turn off.

How to tune the FM radio?

Set the function switch to the radio (FM) position. Turn the frequency tuning knob to tune a station. Use the FM/FM ST toggle to switch to mono if stereo reception is disturbed. The stereo indicator lights up in stereo reception.

What to do if the turntable stylus doesn't work?

Check that the protective cap of the stylus has been removed. Make sure the tonearm is detached from its rest before use. If the problem persists, have maintenance done by qualified personnel.

How to clean the turntable?

Use a soft, dry cloth. Never use detergents or abrasive cloths. Avoid any liquid contact with the device.

Can I use the turntable outdoors?

No, the turntable is designed for indoor use only, in a dry place away from humidity. Do not expose it to direct sunlight or heat sources.

What to do in case of poor FM radio reception?

Fully extend the FM wire antenna. Move the device away from computers or microwave ovens. If the problem persists, switch to mono mode (FM ST off) to reduce interference.

Safety, Environmental and Setup Instructions

• The mains plug or an appliance coupler is used as the disconnect device, the disconnect devices shall remain readily operable.
• Connect this device to a properly installed and earthed wall outlet only. Make sure the mains voltage corresponds with the specifications on the rating plate.

- Make sure the mains cable stays dry during operation. Do not pinch or damage the mains cable in any way.

- A damaged mains cable or plug must immediately be replaced by an authorized service center.

- In case of lightning, immediately disconnect the device from the mains supply.

- Children should be supervised by parents when using the device.

- Clean the device with a dry cloth only.

- Do NOT use CLEANING AGENTS or ABRASIVE CLOTHS!

- Do not expose the device to direct sunlight or other heat sources.

- If the unit is not using for a long period of time, disconnect it from the power supply by unplugging the power plug. This is to avoid the risk of fire.

PRECAUTIONS FOR USE

• Unpack all parts and remove protective material.
  Do not connect the unit to the mains before checking the mains voltage and before all other connections have been made.
  Do not cover any vents and make sure that there is a space of several centimeters around the unit for ventilation.

➢ Push the metal bracket to rear side.
Connect the metal bracket to the top cover.
Connect the hinge of the top cover to the main unit.

Connect the power cord to AC outlet.

Now your system is ready to play the music.

LISTENING TO RADIO

MANUAL TUNING

➢ Set the function switch to the position “TUNER”.
➢ Tune to the required station by turning the tuning knob.
Adjust the "VOLUME" knob to the desired volume level.
Set the FM mode selector to „FM“ position. Programs are received in mono mode. In particular when stereo signals are weak. It's preferable to receive the program in mono
Set the FM mode selector to "FM-ST" position for receiving stereo programs. The LED "ST" indicator will light up to show FM stereo program is receiving.

PHONO

NOTE:

Remove the stylus protector.
➢ Be sure that the tone arm is being detached from the rest before operating and re-secured again afterwards.

Carttridge Stylus assembly

1. Select the "PHONO" function.
2. Set the speed selector to the proper position depending on the record be played.
3. Place the record on the platter (Use the spindle adaptor if required).
4. Lift the tone arm from the rest and slowly move it to the record side. The platter will start to rotate
5. Place the tone arm to the desired position of the record
6. Adjust the volume to the desired level
7. At the end of record, the platter will automatically stop rotating. Lift the tone arm from the record and return it to the rest
8. To stop manually, lift the tone arm from the record and return it to the rest.

REMARK: As some kind of record the auto-stop area was out of the unit setting, so it will stop before the last rack finish. In this case, select the auto-stop switch to "off" position, then it will run to the end of the record but will not stop automatically (turn off the unit by power button or switch back the auto-stop switch to "on" position to stop the platter rotate). Then put back the tone arm to the rest position.

LINE OUT CONNECTION

You can connect the system to your whole hi-fi system by connecting the line out socket to the auxiliary input socket with a RCA cable (not included).

REMARK: the sound from the original build-in speaker will not be terminated even after connecting to other hi-fi system via line out socket. You can turn the volume of system to minimum level if you prefer the sound coming from the hi-fi system only.

HEADPHONE (not incl.)

Connect a commercially available headphone with a 3.5mm jack to the socket. Speakers switch off automatically!
