Safety, performance, and dependability have been given top priority in the design of your random orbital sander. INTENDED USE The random orbital sander is intended to be used only by adults who have read and understood the instructions and warnings in this manual, and can be considered responsible for their actions. The product is intended for sanding and finishing metal, wood, plastics, or similar materials using the abrasive pads provided. The product should only be used in well ventilated areas. The product should only be used in well ventilated areas. The product is designed for dry sanding only. Do not use for wet sanding. The product is intended for consumer use only. Do not use the product for any other purpose. Use of the product for operations different from intended could result in a hazardous situation. WARNING Dust from certain paints, coatings, and other materials may cause irritation or allergic reactions. Dust from wood, such as oak, beech, MDF, and similar materials can be carcinogenic. Only qualified specialists should be allowed to use the product on materials containing asbestos. WARNING Do not use compressed air to remove dust from the product. Dirt and grit blown away by compressed air can cause serious eye injury. WARNING Read all safety warnings, instructions, illustrations and specifications provided with this power tool. Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury. Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.

RANDOM ORBITAL SANDER SAFETY WARNINGS

■ Always wear safety goggles and a dust mask when sanding, especially sanding overhead. ■ A suitable breathing respirator must be worn while sanding lead paint, some woods and metal to avoid breathing the harmful/toxic dust or air. Contact with or inhalation of dust produced from these materials can endanger the health of operator and bystanders. ■ Do not throw sanding dust on an open fire because materials in fine particle form may be explosive. ■ Do not use the product for wet sanding. ■ Do not use sanding paper larger than needed. Extra paper extending beyond the sanding pad can also cause serious lacerations. ■ When not in use, all tools should be disconnected from power source. ■ Caution, fire hazard! Avoid overheating the object being sanded as well as the sander. Always empty the dust collector before taking breaks. ■ Protect the battery against heat (e.g., continuous intense sunlight and fire), water, and moisture. ■ Properly dispose of dropped or damaged battery immediately. ■ Clamp workpiece with a clamping device. Unclamped workpieces can cause severe injury and damage. Do not hold the material you are sanding by hand. ■ Do not apply excessive pressure to the product. ■ Ambient temperature range for tool during operation is between 0°C and 40°C. ■ Ambient temperature range for tool storage is between 0°C and 40°C. ■ The recommended ambient temperature range for the charging system during charging is between 10°C and 38°C.

ADDITIONAL BATTERY SAFETY WARNING

WARNING To reduce the risk of re, personal injury, and product damage due to a short circuit, never immerse your tool, battery pack or charger in uid or allow a uid to ow inside them. Corrosive or conductive uids, such as seawater, certain industrial chemicals, and bleach or bleach containing products, etc., can cause a short circuit. ■ Ambient temperature range for battery during use is between 0°C and 40°C. ■ Ambient temperature range for battery storage is between 0°C and 20°C.

TRANSPORTING LITHIUM BATTERIES

Transport the battery in accordance with local and national provisions and regulations. Follow all special requirements on packaging and labelling when transporting batteries by a third party. Ensure that no batteries can come in contact with other batteries or conductive materials while in transport by protecting exposed connectors with insulating, non-conductive caps or tape. Do not transport batteries that are cracked or leaking. Check with the forwarding company for further advice.English

RESIDUAL RISKS Even when the product is used as prescribed, it is still impossible to completely eliminate certain residual risk factors. The following hazards may arise in use and the operator should pay special attention to avoid the following: ■ Injury caused by dust NOTE: Using the product will produce considerable amount of dust and fine particles. Use the dust collection device or connect a dust extraction vacuum when operating the product. Wear dust masks containing filters appropriate to the materials being worked on. Ensure adequate workplace ventilation. Do not eat, drink or smoke in the work area. ■ Injury caused by noise and vibration NOTE: Wear ear protection during the sanding operation. Do not operate the product for long periods of time. See “Risk reduction”. RISK REDUCTION It has been reported that vibrations from handheld tools may contribute to a condition called Raynaud’s Syndrome in certain individuals. Symptoms may include tingling, numbness and blanching of the fingers, usually apparent upon exposure to cold. Hereditary factors, exposure to cold and dampness, diet, smoking and work practices are all thought to contribute to the development of these symptoms. There are measures that can be taken by the operator to possibly reduce the effects of vibration: ■ Keep your body warm in cold weather. When operating the unit wear gloves to keep the hands and wrists warm. It is reported that cold weather is a major factor contributing to Raynaud’s Syndrome. ■ After each period of operation, exercise to increase blood circulation. ■ Take frequent work breaks. Limit the amount of exposure per day. If you experience any of the symptoms of this condition, immediately discontinue use and see your doctor about these symptoms. WARNING Injuries may be caused, or aggravated, by prolonged use of a tool. When using any tool for prolonged periods, ensure you take regular breaks.

MAINTENANCE WARNING The product should never be connected to a power supply when assembling parts, making adjustments, cleaning, performing maintenance, or when the product is not in use. Disconnecting the product from the power supply will prevent accidental starting that could cause serious injury. WARNING When servicing, use only original manufacturer’s replacement parts, accessories and attachments. Use of any other parts may create a hazard or cause product damage. ■ Avoid using solvents when cleaning plastic parts. Most plastics are susceptible to various types of commercial solvents and may be damaged by their use. Use clean cloths to remove dirt, carbon dust, etc. WARNING Do not at any time let brake fluids, gasoline, petroleum- based products, penetrating oils, etc., come in contact with plastic parts. Chemicals can damage, weaken or destroy plastic which may result in serious personal injury. WARNING For greater safety and reliability, all repairs should be performed by an authorised service centre.

BATTERY OVERLOAD PROTECTION

This tool is designed to protect the battery from overloading. When overloading is detected, the tool will automatically switch off. To resume operation, switch the tool off and on again. If the tool fails to operate, it means battery pack is discharged and should be recharged in a compatible charger. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION Recycle raw materials instead of disposing of as waste. The machine, accessories and packaging should be sorted for environmental-friendly recycling.English
