• The device is intended only for dome- stic/private use, not for commercial use.

• Children must not play with the device.

• Cleaning and user maintenance must not be performed by children unless supervised.

• This device can be used by children over the age of 8 and by people with re

duced physical, sensory or mental skills or people lacking experience or know

ledge, provided that they are super- vised or have been instructed on how to use the device safely and are aware of the consequent risks of use.

taining water or other liquids – risk of electric shock! Read these instructions carefully and keep them for later use, be sure to make them ac

cessible to other users and observe the infor- mation they contain.16 Getting to know your device The beurer HS 20 Cordless hair straightener can be used to quickly and gently straighten and style hair. The hair straightener glides through hair particularly smoothly thanks to the ceramic-coated hot plates with tourmaline crystals. Tourmaline crystals are semi-precious stones that release negative ions when heated, meaning they prevent static charging of the hair, thereby enabling smooth hair with a silky shine. The cordless hair straightener has a lithium-ion battery, and can be used cable-free for up to 30 minutes. This makes the Cordless hair straightener the perfect travel companion for when you’re out and about. Thanks to built-in fast heating, this cordless hair straightener is ready to use in just a few minutes. Three variable temperature settings (approx. 160–200°C) facilitate professional styling of dierent hair types. The LED readiness indicator flashes while the device heats up. When the hot plates have reached the required temperature, the LED readiness indicator lights up steadily.

The cordless hair straightener must only be used for private use to straighten and style human hair. WARNING The device is suitable only:

• for the intended purpose and as specified in these instructions for use. Any form of improper use can be dangerous.

WARNING To avoid damage to health, we strongly advise against using the device in the following situa- tions:

• Never submerge the device in water or other liquids! Risk of electric shock!

• If, despite all precautionary measures, the device falls into water, do not reach into the water! Risk of electric shock!

• Have the device checked by an authorised specialist workshop before using it again. Danger to life due to electric shock!

• If the device has been dropped or has suered any other damage, it must no longer be used. Risk of electric shock and injury!

• If there is visible damage to the device, USB charging cable, or ac- cessories. If you have any doubts, do not use the device and contact your retailer or the specified Customer Services address. Risk of electric shock!

• Keep packaging material away from children – risk of suocation! WARNING To avoid damage to health, please note the following:

• Ensure that no highly flammable liquids are located near the device. Risk of fire!

• Place the device on non-flammable surfaces only. Risk of fire!

• The device must not be covered – risk of fire!

• Do not use the device on synthetic hair – risk of fire!20 Note

• To charge, only connect the device to a socket that has the voltage shown on the type plate.

• Only remove the mini USB charging cable from the socket by the mini USB adapter.

• Do not use any additional parts that are not recommended by the ma- nufacturer or oered as equipment.

• Under no circumstances should you open or repair the device yourself, as faultless functionality can no longer be guaranteed thereafter. Failure to comply with this instruction will void the warranty.

• In the event of a fault or damage, have the device repaired by a certified specialist workshop.

• Never leave the device unattended during use.

• Do not use the device outdoors.

• If you pass on the device to someone else, make sure to also pass on these instructions for use. WARNING Notes on handling batteries

• If your skin or eyes come into contact with fluid from a battery cell, flush out the aected areas with water and seek medical assistance.

• Protect batteries from excessive heat.

• Risk of explosion! Never throw batteries into a fire.

• Do not disassemble, split or crush the batteries.

• Batteries must be charged correctly prior to use. The instructions from the manufacturer and the specifications in these instructions for use regarding correct charging must be observed at all times.

• Fully charge the battery prior to initial use (see Chapter “6. Initial use”).

• In order to achieve as long a battery useful life as possible, fully charge the battery at least twice per year.21

LED readiness indicator

Charging the battery Note Before using the cordless hair straightener for the first time, let it charge for a minimum of 2 hours. To do so, proceed as follows:

1. Connect the cordless hair straightener to the supplied USB charging

2. The LED readiness indicator

will now light up in red. The LED rea- diness indicator

is lit up in red throughout the charging process. As soon as the battery is fully charged, the LED readiness indicator

lights up in green. Note It is not possible to use the device during the charging process.

3. As soon as the LED readiness indicator

lights up in green, remove the USB charging cable

from the cordless hair straightener and the USB connection

Straightening/styling hair

1. To unlock the straightener, slide the locking mechanism

2. To switch on the hair straightener, slide the safety switch

for 3 seconds. The LED rea- diness indicator

now starts to flash.22

to select your preferred temperature (160°C, 180°C or 200°C). The LED readiness indicator

for the se- lected temperature starts to flash white. As soon as the LED readiness indicator

is steadily lit up in white, the set temperature has been reached. If the LED readiness indicator

flashes red, you need to charge the battery. We recommend the following temperature settings: 160°C 180°C 200°C for fine hair for normal hair for professional styling

4. Comb your hair with a wide-toothed comb to get rid of any tangles. Dry

your hair thoroughly before using the cordless hair straightener. The hair should be clean and free from styling products. The exception to this is special products designed to help straighten hair.

5. Part the hair into individual sections of approximately 1 to 2 cm. Hold a

section taut and place it between the hot plates

6. Slowly move the hair straightener from the roots to the tips in a fluid

motion. Do not hold the hair straightener in one place for more than two seconds. This will achieve the best results without subjecting your hair to excess stress or damage.

7. You can style the ends of your hair by turning the cordless hair straigh-

tener inwards or outwards before the tips of the hair through them. After use

2. Place the hair hair straightener on a non-flammable surface.

3. Slide the safety switch

to “O”. The straightener can now no longer be switched on accidentally.

4. Leave the device to completely cool down!

5. Store the device in a dry place out of the reach of children.23

• Allow the device to cool completely before cleaning it. Ensure that no water gets inside the device! Risk of electric shock!

• Do not clean the device with highly flammable liquids. Risk of fire! Note

• Your device is maintenance-free.

• Protect the device from dust, dirt and humidity.

• Do not clean the device in a dishwasher.

• Do not use any aggressive, caustic, abrasive or corrosive cleaning pro- ducts or hard brushes.

• The housing of the hair straightener and the hot plates

may be clea- ned with a soft cloth dampened with warm water.
