Enclose these instructions when you give this appliance to someone else. This appliance is designed for domestic use or for use in non- commercial, household-like environments. Household-like environments include, for example, use in staff kitchens in shops, ofces, agricultural and other small businesses, as well as use by guests at bed-and-breakfast establishments, small hotels and similar residential facilities.

Danger of electric shock and re! Connect and operate the appliance only according to the type plate specications. Children younger than 8 years may not operate the appliance. These appliances may be used by children aged 8 years and older and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or who lack experience and / or knowledge if they are supervised or have been given instruction in the safe use of the appliance and have understood the dangers involved. Children may not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance may not be carried out by children without supervision. Use only if power cord and appliance show no signs of damage. Unplug after every use or if defective. Unplug the appliance before cleaning it. Never immerse the appliance in water. Do not use a steam cleaner. The heating plates will become hot. Hold the appliance only by its handle. Only use on dry hair; under no circumstances use the appliance on articial hair. Place the appliance on heat-resistant surfaces only. Do not use near water contained in bath tubs, sinks or other containers.

Risk of fatal injury! Never allow the appliance to come into contact with water. Even an appliance that has been switched off poses a danger; therefore unplug the appliance after every use or when interrupted in its use. Installing a ground fault circuit interrupter up to 30 mA in the house offers additional protection. Please consult an electrician.

2 on/off switch 3 Temperature selector +/– 4 Temperature display a LED 140 °C b LED 170 °C c LED 200 °C 5 LED display for permanent ionisation 6 Button lock LED M 7 Heating plates, exibly mounted 8 Silicone strips (3 grades of hardness) 9 Ionic nozzle Operation ● Plug in the appliance and place on the heat-resistant storage bag. ● Switch on with switch 2, LED 4a ashes. ● Now use the temperature selector to select the desired temperature 140 °C, 170 °C or 200 °C. ● The appliance warms up and the LED for the set temperature ashes. When the LED comes on constantly the appliance is ready for use. Recommendations for using the silicone strips Colour Grade of hardness Hair type light soft thick medium medium normal dark hard ne Everyone’s hair is different and you should therefore select the type of strip that best suits your hair. Colour saving: Colour is protected and retained for longer only at temperatures of 140 °C and 170 °C. Button lock To make handling the appliance easier, you can lock the buttons “+” and “–”. If the but- ton lock has been activated, the set tem- perature cannot be changed by accidentally pressing the buttons. ● Set the desired temperature. ● Press and hold the “–” button for three seconds. ● The button lock is activated and the button lock LED 6 M comes on. ● To deactivate the button lock, press the “–” button again and hold for 3 seconds; the button lock LED M goes off. Note: The on/off switch 2 can not be locked. Use

Risk of burns! Never allow appliance to come into contact with skin (scalp or ears). You can use the hair straightener to straighten or curl your hair. ● Only use the appliance on dry hair. Note: Fine hair responds particularly quickly to the treatment with the heating plates. Please refer to the table for the different silicone strips, see “Operation”. The even heat emission of the heating plates is especially gentle on the hair. The result is smooth hair with an intensive, silky shine. Important: Never apply in one place for longer than 2 seconds.11 PHS 9460 02/2013 11en Silicone strips The strand of hair is held in place by the soft, exible silicone strips and cannot slip out. As a result, hair is easily smoothed or sculpted in a single pass without pressure or sharp tugging on the scalp. Risk of burns! First let the appliance cool down completely. To insert, lay the strip on one side and press it in with your nger, smoothing it into place. The silicone strips are exceptionally dura- ble and hygienic. They can be hand washed when cold as required using a mild deter- gent solution. Silicone strips, hard 628568 Straightening your hair (Image sequence B) The appliance is suitable for both long and short hair. ● Comb the hair and section it into even strands (approx. 5 cm wide). ● Set the locking device to

● Starting from the roots, place a strand of hair between the plates (Figure a). ● Press the plates together and pull down gently and evenly toward the ends of the hair (Figure b). ● Treat all strands in the same manner. Allow hair to cool completely before styling. Tip: For shoulder-length hair, each strand should take about 10 seconds. Curling your hair (Image sequence C) Separate dry hair into even sections, roughly 2 cm wide. The ner the strand, the tighter the curl. ● Hold the hair straightener level, place the strand of hair between the heating plates and close them. ● Turn the straightener 180° and wrap the strand once around the upper heating plate. ● Press the plates rmly together and pull the straightener down to the ends of the hair at a steady pace. Hold down the sec- tion of hair to be straightened using your free hand. ● Now open the plates. N.B.: Make sure that the curl is not pulled straight when removing the straightener. Tip for a longer lasting hair style: Roll up the curl when it’s still hot and x with a hair clip until cool. The LED display 5 for ionisation comes on constantly. The hair can become electrostatically charged from combing, the use of hair care products or friction caused by the heating plates. The ions generated (natural electri- cally loaded particles) reduce this charging and make the hair easier to manage. Your hair is smoother and more glossy, the colour more vibrant. Automatic shut-off For safety reasons this appliance is equipped with an automatic shut-off function. ● The appliance switches off automatically approx. 70 minutes after it was switched on or after the temperature selector 3 was adjusted for the last time. The display will go dark. Note: Use the on/off switch 2 to switch the appliance back on. Cleaning and maintenance
