Enclose these instructions when you give this appliance to someone else. This appliance is designed for domestic use or for use in non-commercial, household-like environments. Household- like environments include staff areas in shops, ofces, agricultural and other small businesses or for use by guests at bed-and-break- fast establishments, small hotels and similar residential facilities.

Danger of electric shock and re! Connect and operate the appliance only according to the type plate specications. Children younger than 8 years must not operate the appliance. These appliances may be used by children aged 8 years and older and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabili- ties or who lack experience and/or knowledge if they are supervised or have been given instruction in the safe use of the appliance and have understood the dangers involved. Children must not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance must not be carried out by children without supervision. Use only if power cord and appliance show no signs of damage. Unplug after every use or if defective. Repairs to the appliance, such as replacing a damaged power cord, may only be carried out by our customer service in order to avoid risks. Use on dry hair only. Do not use on articial hair. Place the appliance on heat-resistant surfaces only. Avoid any skin contact. Do not use near water contained in bathtubs, sinks, or in other containers.

Danger! Never allow the appliance to touch water. Even a switched off appli- ance poses a danger; unplug the appliance after every use or when interrupted during use. Installing a ground fault circuit interrupter up to 30 mA in the house offers additional protection. Please consult an electrician.

Straightening your hair (Image sequence A) The appliance is suitable for both long and short hair. ● Comb the hair and section it into even strands. (approx. 5 cm wide) ● Starting from the roots, place a strand of hair between the plates. ● Press the plates together and pull down gently and evenly toward the ends of the hair. ● Treat all strands in the same manner. Allow hair to cool completely before styling. Tip: For shoulder-length hair, each strand should take about 10 seconds. Curling your hair There are three methods for curling hair. For each method, separate dry hair into even sections, roughly 2 cm wide. The ner the strand, the tighter the curl. Curling with volume in the entire hair (Image sequence B) ● Hold the hair straightener level, place the strand of hair between the heating plates and close them. ● Turn the straightener 180° and wrap the strand once around the upper heating plate. ● Press the plates rmly together and pull the straightener down to the ends of the hair at a steady pace. Hold down the sec- tion of hair to be straightened using your free hand. ● Now open the plates and release the hair. Congratulations on purchasing this Bosch appliance. Controls and Accessories 1 Lock L / U 2 On / off switch with heat settings 3 On / off control light 4 Heating plates 5 Hanging eyelet Operation ● Plug in the appliance and place on a level surface that is insensitive to heat. ● Press switch 2 to select the required tem- perature setting. The control light 3 lights up red. 0 = off 1 = 160° C 2 = 200° C ● The appliance now heats up and can be used after approximately 35 seconds. ● To switch off, set switch 2 to “0” Use Risk of burns! You can use the hair straightener to straighten or curl your hair. ● Only use the appliance on dry hair. Note: Fine hair responds particularly quick- ly to the treatment with the heating plates. The even heat emission of the heating plates is especially gentle on the hair. The result is smooth hair with an intensive, silky shine.9 PHS2112 03/2012 9en Curling with volume in the length (Image sequence C) ● Hold the hair straightener level, place the strand of hair between the heating plates and close them. ● Turn the straightener 180° and wrap the strand once around the lower heating plate. ● Press the plates rmly together and pull the straightener down to the ends of the hair at a steady pace. Hold down the sec- tion of hair to be straightened using your free hand. ● Now open the plates and release the hair. Spiral curls (Image sequence D) ● Hold the hair straightener vertically, place the strand of hair between the lower half of the heating plates and close them. ● Turn the straightener 180° and wrap the strand once around the free heating plate. ● Press the plates rmly together and pull the straightener down tilted to the ends of the hair at a steady pace. Hold down the section of hair to be straightened using your free hand. ● Now open the plates and release the hair. N.B.: Make sure that the curl is not pulled straight when removing the straightener. Tip for a longer lasting hair style: Roll up the curl when it’s still hot and x with a hair clip until cool.
