Sharpening saw chain
A correctly sharpened saw chain reduces kickback danger and prevents excessive chain wear.
A sharp saw chain produces well formed chips. If the chain produces sawdust, it must be sharpened.

Inexperienced users are recommended to let the saw chain be sharpened by an expert.
When sharpening, only use a suitable tool:
Round chain file with = 4.0mm
ile guiding.
Chain file holder.
Caution!
All cutting teeth must be the same length. Uneven tooth lengths result in a rough running chain resulting in a chain break.
The minimal length of the cutting teeth amounts to 4 mm (P). After that, change saw chain.
For simple regrinding, 2 to 3 file strokes from the inside out are sufficient (O).
The angle to the cutting tooth must be maintained (P).
Upon application of the proscribed sharpening tools and proper handling, the stipulated values for angle A and B (P) are automatically achieved.

After 3 to 4 personal sharpenings, have the saw chain resharpened in an authorized workshop. There, the depth limiter (P, distance D) is also regrinded.

Cleaning chain sprocket interior
- Unscrew clutch cover.
- Clean interior with a brush.
- Remove saw chain and take out guide bar.
Guide bar
In order to avoid one-sided wear, the guide bar should be turned in regular intervals (e.g. every 8 working hours). Examine for damages.
Keep bar nut (Q/1) and oil feed hole (Q/2) clean. Take care of prominent burrs (Q) with a file.
Oil the guide bar's star wheel:
-
Carefully clean lubrication bore from both sides of the blade points (R).
-
With a grease gun, press grease on both sides until the grease comes out evenly along the points of the star wheel. Turn star wheel at the same time.

The saw chain must not be without oiling.
Air filter
Clean the air filter regularly. Replace damaged air filter.
- Remove air filter shroud. Loosen screw and take off shroud (S).
- Pull up foam filter (T) and wash out in warm soapy water. Only reinsert when dry.
- Reinstall air filter shroud.

Work habits and work technique

Caution!
Felling trees and trimming requires a lot of experience. Only trained persons may carry out this work.
Kickback danger

Warning!
Kickback danger! A kickback can lead to fatal injuries!
Observe the following to avoid kickback:
Inspect item to be cut for foreign objects.
Operate the chainsaw with both hands.
Only take the chainsaw out of the cut with a running saw chain.
Do not work bent over too far.
Never cut through several branches at the same time.
Only work with a correctly sharpened and tensioned chainsaw.
Never operate the device with stretched-out arms.
Begin the cut with a running chainsaw - only saw at full throttle.
Do not saw with the guide bar points.
Exercise caution while continuing a started cut.
Felling trees

Caution!
Only begin with the felling work if an obstacle-free retreat path away from the falling tree is possible.
The retreat path should run approximately 45^ diagonally backwards (N).
The safety distance for the falling tree should be at least. 21 / 2 tree lengths.
For the tree's direction of fall, decide upon:
The natural leaning of the tree
Height of the tree
ne-sided branch formation
level or hillside
symmetric growth, wood damage
wind direction and wind velocity
now weight

Caution!
Do not carry out felling work when it is windy.
Felling Technique
Felling is done with 2 kerf cuts and the felling cut. The kerf cuts (M/c) determine the felling direction of the tree.
When felling and cross-cutting always set the claw stop against the timber you want to saw.
Make the kerf cut ( / ) in the desired felling direction ( / ) as near as possible to the ground.
1. Initially, saw the kerf cut (M/c) diagonally from above, then horizontally.
2. Saw the felling cut opposite from the kerf cut, abosolutely horizontally. The height of the felling cut must be approx. 3 - 5cm higher than the horizontal kerf cut.

Caution!
Allow a bend (M/f) to stand between the kerf cut and the felling cut that amounts to approx. 1/10 of the trunk diameter.
The tree begins to fall during sawing:
Pull the chainsaw out of the cut immediately
Go into the retreat path area
look for falling branches and twigs
If the tree remains standing, bring it to a controlled fall by driving wedges into the felling cut.
Trimming
Support the chainsaw at the trunk when trimming.
Pay particular attention to branches under tension.
Do not cut unsupported branches from below.
Do not stand on the felled trunk during trimming work.
Burrowing and parallel-to-grain cuts may only be carried out by persons with special training.
Sawn timber cross cuts
Use secure support (saw horse).
Do not secure the wood by foot or by an other person.
Prevent logs from turning.
Direct the chainsaw so that no body part is found in the extended steering range of the chainsaw.
Place the saw head directly next to the cutting edge and allow the chainsaw to turn around this point.
Exercise no pressure at the end of cutting.
Disposal

Do not dispose of old equipment, batteries or accumulators as household waste!
The machine, packaging, and accessories were made with recyclable materials, and should be disposed of accordingly.
