- Check whether the movable parts function perfectly and do not stick or whether the parts are damaged. All parts must be correctly installed and fulfil all conditions to ensure perfect operation of the saw
Unless otherwise indicated in the operating instructions, damaged safety devices and parts must be properly repaired or replaced by an authorised workshop (or by the manufacturer).
- Damaged or illegible safety warning labels should be replaced immediately.
- Store the unused machine in a dry locked place away from the reach of children.
Electrical safety
Design of the connection cable according to IEC 60 245 (H 07 RN-F) with a core cross-profile section of at least
-
1.5mm^2 for cable lengths up to 25 m
-
2.5mm^2 for cable lengths over 25m
-
Long and thin connection lines result in a potential drop. The motor does not reach any longer its maximal power; the function of the device is reduced.
Plugs and coupler outlets on connection cables must be made of rubber, non-rigid PVC or other thermoplastic material of same mechanical stability or be covered with this material.
The connector of the connection cable must be splashproof. - When running the connection line observe that it does not interfere, is not squeezed, bended and the plug connection does not get wet.
- Do not use the cable for purposes for which it is not meant. Protect the cable against heat, oil and sharp edges. Do not use the cable to pull the plug from the socket.
Wind off completely the cable when using a cable drum. - Regularly check the extension cables and replace them if they are damaged.
- Do not use any defective connection cables.
- When working outdoors, only use extension cables especially approved and appropriately labelled for outdoor use.
- Do not set up any provisional electrical connections.
- Never bypass protective devices or deactivate them.
Only hook up the machine by means of a fault-current circuit breaker (30mA)
The electrical connection or repairs to electrical parts of the machine must be carried out by a certified electrician or one of our customer service points. Local regulations - especially regarding protective measures - must be observed.
Repairs to other parts of the machine must be carried out by the manufacturer or one of his customer service points.
Use only original spare. Accidents can arise for the user through the use of other spare parts. The manufacturer is not liable for any damage or injury resulting from such action.
Preparing for commissioning
To achieve perfect function of the machine, follow the notes given in these instructions
You have to do the following:
- Attach the protective hood
- Assembling the supporting wheel
- Assembling the guide handle
Installing the protective hood B
Fasten the protective hood (3) to the cutting head (1) using the screws (14).
Assembling the supporting wheel C
Fasten the supporting wheel (4) with the screws (14) to the protective hood (3).
Assembling the guide handle D
Fasten the guide handle (8) with the clamping screw (9) to the device.
Commissioning
Mains connection
Compare the voltage given on the machine model plate e.g. 230V with the mains voltage and connect the saw to the relevant and properly earthed plug
Only hook up the machine by means of a fault-current circuit breaker (30mA)
- Use connecting or extension cables up to a length of 25m featuring a core cross section of at least 1.5mm^2
Mounting of the extension cable E

In order to prevent an unintended loosening of the extension assembly put the extension cable as noose throughout opening on the rear handhold and put it over the cable by using.
Switch on
Do not use any device where the switch can not be switched on and off. Damaged switches must be repaired or replaced immediately by the customer service.
The lawn trimmer has a two-hand protective shut-down which prevents an unintended switching on.

Switch on
First press the round locking knob (6) on the side and then the ON/OFF handle button (7).
While working, you can release the locking knob (6).

Switching off
Release the ON/OFF handle button (7).
Working instructions

Before commencing work, ensure the following:
- You may not start to operate the machine until you have read these operating instructions, observed all the instructions given and installed the machine as described!
- Make sure to have a safe and tidied up work area. Remove from the working area objects which might be thrown off.
- Before starting your work make sure that:
- no other persons or animals stay within the working area,
- you can always step back without any barriers,
- you have always a secure standing position.
- Only trim the lawn when it is dry, then you will obtain the best results.
If persons who have blood circulation problems are too often exposed to vibrations damages to the nervous system or to blood vessels may occur.
You can reduce vibrations
- by thick and warm working gloves,
- shorter working time (have longer breaks).
See a doctor if your fingers swell, you don't feel well or your fingers become numb.
Working with the lawn trimmer

Always keep your hands and feet at a safe distance to the rotating cutting thread.
- Before starting, remove the protective cap (17) from the thread knife (18). B
Always keep the ventilation apertures free. - The cutting thread is after-running once the lawn trimmer has been powered off. Therefore wait until the thread is stationary before you restart the product.

Ensure that you always comply with the safety instructions given on p. 16 ff.
Working with the lawn trimmer
Correct working position
Before you start working it is recommended to adjust your lawn trimmer so that you can work safely and comfortably.
Telescopic tube F
You can use the telescopic tube to adjust
a) the trimmer length and
b) the trimmer heigth.
- For this, turn the device with the handle by 90^ to the left (counterclockwise) and push or pull the device up to your desired height.
- To fix the height turn the handle back.
Guide handle D
For better control, grasp the lawn trimmer also at the guide handle (10). You can adjust the guide handle in height to have a better working comfort.
- Loosen the clamping screw (9).
- Slide the handle to your desired position and then retighten the clamping screw.
Trimming E
While trimming keep the lawn trimmer away from your body at a sufficient distance. Tilt the product slightly forward and move it from left to right.
It is recommended to cut higher grass above 15cm in several passes.
Trimming edges F
To trim along edges and around shrubs and trees you have to turn the cutting head.
- Switch off the lawn trimmer.
- Grasp the handle and turn it by 180^ to the left (counterclockwise).
- Place the lawn trimmer on the supporting wheel (4) and guide the device along the edge. So you can trim edges in a safe distance to the ground and without the need to carry the device.
Guide the product around trees and shrubs so that the plants are not damaged.
Caution! Damaged plants may die off.
Do not guide the cutting thread directly at walls and paving stones. Otherwise it will prematurely wear off.
Automatic thread follow-up
The cutting thread will be followed up automatically with each starting of the device.
Maintenance and cleaning

Before each maintenance and cleaning work:
- switch off device
- wait until the cutting thread is stationary.
- pull out main plug
For maintaining and cleaning, removed security devices must unconditionally be mounted properly and proved again.
Use only original parts. Other parts can result in unexpected damages and injuries.
Maintenance and repair work beyond this is only allowed to be carried out by the manufacturer or authorized service staff.

Note the following to keep your lawn trimmer functioning:
Clean all movable parts on a regular basis.
- Remove dust and dirt with a cloth or a brush.
- Do not clean the machine with running water or high-pressure cleaners.
- Do not use solvents for the synthetic parts (petrol, alcohol, etc.) as these can damage the synthetic parts.
Replacing the thread spool

Replacing the thread spool G
- Disconnect the mains plug.
- Press together the both locking devices (15) at the spool cover (10) and remove the latter.
- Remove the thread spool (11) from the spool cover.
- Remove dirt and grass residues.
-
Thread the both cutting thread ends (13) of the new thread spool through the holes (16) of the spool cover provided for this (each one end through one hole).
-
Firmly place the thread spool in the spool cover. Make sure that the cutting threads are not caught and pull them approx. 9 cm out of the spool.
- Place the spool cover with thread spool on the spool adapter (12) and press it firmly down until the locking devices (15) of the spool cover (10) securely click into place.
Storage

Remove the mains plug from the socket.
-
Store unused equipment in a dry, locked place out of the reach of children.
Place the protective cap (17) onto the thread knife (18). B
Before a longer storage observe the following in order to prolongate the service life of the machine and to guarantee a smooth running operation: -
thoroughly clean the machine
