How to descale the AEG-Electrolux Caffe Silenzio CS5000?
When the scale indicator flashes, proceed with descaling: empty the tank, pour the AEG/Electrolux liquid descaler (0.125 L) + 1 L of water, place a container under the steam nozzle, press the rinse/descaling button for 5 seconds, open the steam knob. The program lasts about 30 minutes, followed by a rinse with clear water. Do not interrupt.
Why is the coffee flowing too slowly or drop by drop?
This is due to too fine a grind. During grinding, turn the grind adjustment knob (in the bean container) one notch clockwise (coarser grind). Wait at least 2 coffees to see the effect. Also check that the Grind quantity knob is not turned too far to the right.
How to make a cappuccino with the Caffe Silenzio CS5000?
First prepare a coffee in a large cup. Press the steam button, wait until the indicator is steady. Immerse the cappuccino nozzle in cold milk (preferably semi-skimmed) and open the steam knob half a turn. Froth by raising and lowering the container. Close the knob and deactivate the steam function. Pour the froth over the coffee.
What to do if the 'grounds drawer' indicator is steady on?
The grounds drawer is full or incorrectly inserted. Open the service flap, remove the drip tray and the grounds drawer. Empty and clean the drawer carefully, then replace it. Make sure the drawer is properly engaged. The machine only recognizes emptying when it is on.
Can I use ground coffee instead of beans?
Yes. Press the ground coffee button (the indicator lights up). Pour one scoop (supplied) per cup into the funnel. Do not exceed 2 scoops. Place the cups and select the number of cups. The bean grinder is then deactivated. To return to beans, press the button again.
How to set the water hardness?
Use the supplied test stick: dip it in cold water for 1 second, count the pink zones. To adjust, with the machine off, press the on/off button for 5 seconds until the 4 indicators flash. Press the ground coffee button repeatedly to light up the number of indicators corresponding to the hardness (1 to 4). Confirm with the on/off button.
The coffee is not hot enough, what to do?
Preheat the cups by rinsing them with hot water or leaving them on the cup warmer for 20 min. Before making coffee, you can also start a rinse of the brewing unit by pressing the ground coffee button (if the machine is ready) to heat the group. Avoid thick unheated cups.
How to clean the brewing unit?
Turn off the machine (press on/off button) and wait until the indicators go out. Open the service flap, remove the drip tray and grounds drawer. Press the two red release buttons and pull the brewing unit outward. Wash it with lukewarm water without detergent (not in dishwasher). Clean the inside of the machine with a brush. Reassemble by pushing until it clicks.
The machine does not turn on, what to check?
Make sure the plug is properly connected to a functional power outlet (220-240 V). Check that the water tank is correctly placed and filled. If after a few minutes the machine still does not turn on, contact after-sales service.
What does the constant 'generic alarm' indicator mean?
This indicator can indicate several problems: water tank empty, grounds drawer full, brewing unit incorrectly inserted, or service flap open.
