How to adjust the water hardness on the AEG-Electrolux CG 6400?
Use the supplied test strip to measure hardness. Then press Menu, navigate to WATER HARDNESS, select the degree (1 to 4) with the < or > buttons and confirm with OK.
What to do if the message 'DESCALE PLEASE!' appears?
Run the descaling program: press Menu, choose DESCALING, confirm with OK, then follow the on-screen instructions. Use only AEG/Electrolux descaler.
How to prepare two cups of coffee simultaneously?
Place two cups under the dispenser, set the desired size and aroma, then press the 2 cups button. The machine grinds and brews both cups at the same time.
Why is the coffee dripping too slowly?
This may be due to too fine a grind. While grinding, turn the grind adjustment knob one notch clockwise for a coarser grind.
How to clean the brew unit?
Turn off the machine with the on/off switch (do not unplug). Open the service panel, remove the drip tray and grounds container. Press the two red side buttons to unlock and pull out the unit. Clean it under running water without detergent. Replace it by pushing firmly until it clicks.
How to froth milk with the steam nozzle?
Press Steam, wait for the appliance to heat up. Place a container of cold milk under the nozzle, turn the steam/hot water selector to the steam position. Plunge the nozzle just under the milk surface and move the container up and down. Stop by returning the selector to the off position.
What does the message 'EMPTY GROUNDS CONTAINER' mean?
The grounds container (coffee grounds) is full. Open the service panel, remove the drip tray, empty and clean the grounds container. Replace everything. The appliance counts 14 single coffees before showing this message.
Can I use pre-ground coffee?
Yes. Turn the aroma intensity rotary knob to the pre-ground coffee position (1 or 2 cups). Open the funnel lid and add one level measuring spoon per cup (max 2). Close and press 1 cup or 2 cups.
How to adjust the coffee temperature?
Press Menu, navigate to TEMPERATURE, confirm with OK. Choose between low, medium or high with < or >, then confirm. High temperature is the factory setting.
What to do if the screen shows 'GENERAL ALARM!'?
The inside of the machine is very dirty. Turn off the machine, clean the brew unit and interior with a damp cloth and vacuum cleaner. If the message persists, contact after-sales service.
