General Safety Instructions

Read the operating instructions carefully before putting the appliance into operation and keep the instructions including the warranty, the receipt and, if possible, the box with the internal packing. If you give this device to other people, please also pass on the operating instructions.

• The appliance is designed exclusively for private use and for the envisaged purpose. This appliance is not fit for commercial use.

Do not use it outdoors. Keep it away from sources of heat, direct sunlight, humidity (never dip it into any liquid) and sharp edges. Do not use the appliance with wet hands. If the appliance is humid or wet, unplug it immediately.

• When cleaning or putting it away, switch off the appliance and always pull out the plug from the socket (pull the plug itself, not the lead) if the appliance is not being used and remove the attached accessories.

• Do not operate the machine without supervision. If you leave the room you should always turn the device off. Remove the plug from the socket.

• The device and the mains lead have to be checked regularly for signs of damage. If damage is found the device must not be used.

• Do not try to repair the appliance on your own. Always contact an authorized technician. To avoid the exposure to danger, always have faulty cable be replaced only by the manufacturer, by our customer service or by qualified person and with a cable of the same type.

WARNING OF ELECTRIC SHOCK!

Do not use this device near baths, wash basins or other vessels containing water.

WARNING:

If the device is used in the bathroom please remove the plug from the socket after use as the proximity of water represents a hazard. This also applies if the device is switched off.
The hair straightener becomes hot during operation! Danger of burning!
Always remove the plug from the socket after use.
- Allow the device to cool down before cleaning it and storing it away!

As additional protection we recommend the installation of a fault current protection device (RCD) with a rated current of not more than 30mA in the wiring system of the bathroom. Please contact an authorised electrician for advice.

Before Initial Use

• Remove all the packing materials.
• When the device is switched on for the first time there may be a slight smell. You should therefore operate the device for approximately 10 minutes without smoothing your hair. Ensuring sufficient ventilation!

Adjust Heating Plate Angle

For ergonomic use of the device by right-handed and left-handed persons, the heating plates can be swiveled up to 30^ to the left and the right.

1. Lift the setting ring on the lock for the angle adjustment (1) and turn it 90^ counterclockwise.
2. Swivel the heating plate 15^ or 30^ to the left or the right. Use the angles printed on the side for orientation.
3. To fix the heating plates rotate the lock for the angle adjustment 90^ clockwise and press the setting ring down again.
4. Set the angle of the other heating plate as described in steps 1 to 3.

Commissioning

1. Fully unwind the mains cable.
2. Insert the plug in a duly installed 230V 50 Hz socket.
3. Press and hold the On / Off button (5) for 3 seconds to switch the device on.

NOTE:

The device always starts with the temperature set to 140^
The display (2) shows the current temperature.

1. Select a temperature between 140^ and 200^ :

2. With the " - " button you can reduce the temperature by 10^ each time.

3. With the "+" button you can increase the temperature by 10^ each time.

NOTE:

The display (2) lights up blue if you increase or decrease the temperature.
- The display (2) lights up red while the device is heating up or cooling down.
The display (2) lights up green as soon as the set temperature is reached.

General Use

• Select the desired temperature as described above.
  The device must be used only for dry hair.
  Take a strand of hair and pull it carefully downwards until it is taut.
  The remaining hair should be put up or fixed in place.
• Before the halves are pressed together for approx. 5 seconds, we recommend that you ensure that the hair is positioned correctly. Always begin at the base of the hair and move the device in the direction of the hair tip.
• In order to produce a uniform appearance it is important that the next strands fall in one line.

Ionizing function with tourmaline coating - Reduction of electrically-charged hair

The anti-static effect allows easier hair styling. The hair does not dry out, it becomes smooth and sparkling.

Switch-off

• Press and hold the On/Off button (5) for 3 seconds to switch the device off.
• Remove the mains plug.
• Leave the device to cool before putting it away! Place the device on its side.

Safety Switch-Off

This device features a safety switch-off. In case you forget to switch the unit off after use, it automatically turns off approx. 60 minutes after the last time a button was pressed.

Cleaning and care

WARNING:

• Before cleaning remove the mains lead from the socket.
• Under no circumstances should you immerse the device in water for cleaning purposes. Otherwise this might result in an electric shock or fire.

CAUTION:

• Do not use a wire brush or any abrasive items.

• Do not use any acidic or abrasive detergents.

• Clean the casing with a soft, dry cloth – without any additional cleaning agents.

• The heating surfaces can be cleaned with a slightly damp cloth. If necessary you can use a commercial dish washing detergent.
• Dry the heating surfaces off thoroughly each time they are cleaned!
