3. Before first use

Before you use the appliance and accessories for the first time, thoroughly clean the parts that come into contact with food. Before you clean the appliance, unplug it. (For cleaning details refer to Chapter 5)

WARNING

The chopping blades are sharp! Please handle with care. Especially when removing the blades from the glass bowl, emptying the glass bowl and during cleaning. Use extreme caution when handling the blades. Always hold them by the shaft. Do not attempt to sharpen the blades.

CAUTION

  • Place the glass bowl on a clean, flat surface. Non-slip pad can be placed under the chopper glass bowl for stability.
  • Do not use the glass bowl right after being taken out from dishwasher or refrigerator. Be sure it stays at room temperature for at least 5 min before use. If preparing food for babies or young children, always check that the ingredients are thoroughly blended before feeding. To ensure consistent processing, stop and scrape down any food from the side of the glass bowl with a plastic spatula. The best results are obtained by chopping small quantities at one time.
  • Do not fill the chopper glass bowl more than half-bowl for better mixing.
  • Do not mix ingredients larger than 2 x 2 x 2 cm. Always allow hot food to cool before processing.
  • Do not operate chopper continuously for longer than 10 seconds in any 4 minutes period.
  • Do not operate the appliance at no-load. If the chopper overheats, unplug the appliance and let it cool down for approximately 10 minutes before using again.
  • Beware of over processing some ingredients, stop and check the consistency frequently.
  • Before chopping nuts, herbs, breadcrumbs etc, ensure that blades, glass bowl and the cover are thoroughly dry.
  • Remember that chopping hard foods such as coffee beans, spices, chocolate or ice will wear the knife blades faster. If the chopper labours, remove some of the mixture and continue processing in several batches, otherwise you may strain the motor. To avoid overloading the appliance, you can;
  • Add more liquid ingredient.
  • Process in several small batches. Use a higher speed setting.
  • Do not attempt to process very thick recipes such as bread dough or mash potatoes.

4. Using your Chopper

  1. Assemble the upper blade on the blade shaft until lock into place.
  2. Fit the blade shaft assembly into the glass bowl over the Spindle Pin.
  3. Cut the food into suitably sized pieces and place in the glass bowl. Larger pieces of food should be cut into approximately 1 to 2 cm pieces.
  4. Fit the cover and press to lock into place.
  5. Place the main body onto the cover.
  6. Plug in.
  7. Press down on the ON/OFF and variable speed button to select the desired speed (Max 10 secs).
  8. When operating the main body, hold it and the glass bowl firmly.
  9. Press the ON/OFF and variable speed button lightly to obtain low speed.
  10. Press the ON/OFF and variable speed button firmly to obtain high speed.
  11. Alternatively, the ON/OFF and variable speed button may be pressed down for short periods of time to produce a pulsing action.

This can be used to avoid over processing food. Operate the chopper until the desired result is achieved.

  • Release the ON/OFF button to switch off.
  • Remove the blades, then pour out the food.

Reverse the above procedure to disassemble the unit.
