Safety instructions when connecting the appliance

  • This appliance complies with the recognised rules of technology and the pertinent safety regulations for electrical appliances!
  • If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its service agent or a similarly qualified person in order to avoid any danger.
  • The voltage of the power source must be the same as specified on the nameplate!
  • Connect the appliance only to AC current and to a socket with earthing contact. Do not pull the cable over sharp edges, clamp it into place or allow it to hang down. Keep the cable away from heat and dampness!
  • Put the mains plug into the kettle only when the appliance is switched off!
  • The kettle is only to be used with the stand provided.
  • Ensure that the kettle is automatically or manually switched off before removing it from its stand.
  • Never place the appliance on or beside hot surfaces, for example, radiators, cooking rings, gas burners or similar. If an extension lead is required, use only an earthed cable with a conductor cross-section of at least 1.5 mm².

Safety instructions when operating the appliance

  • Never leave the appliance unattended during operation and keep it out of the reach of children!
  • Use the appliance only for its intended purpose!
  • Persons with nervous disorders should never use the appliance without an accompanying person in order to avoid any danger.
  • Never switch on the kettle if there is no water in it. The stainless steel base becomes discoloured and could be damaged if the kettle is used when there is no water in it.
  • Warning! Risk of scalding! Hot steam ejected by the kettle can cause scalding. Observe the maximum filling level. Do not open the lid while the water is boiling.
  • Warning! Danger of burns! The metal kettle gets very hot when in use. Contact with the skin can cause burns!
  • Never fill the kettle beyond the maximum filling level!
  • If the kettle is overfilled, boiling water may be ejected!
  • The appliance becomes hot during operation - this is normal! Only ever use the handle to pour out the water!

Safety instructions for cleaning and maintenance

  • Neither the appliance nor the power base can be opened. Always remove the kettle from the power base and allow it to cool down if faults occur during operation or for cleaning

and maintenance! Disconnect the plug from the mains!

  • Do not use the cable to pull on the plug or pull the plug out of the socket when hands are wet!
  • Warning! Danger of electric shock or short-circuit! Protect the appliance and the power base from dampness. Never put them into the dishwasher! Never immerse them in water!
  • Observe the instructions for de-scaling!

3. USE IN ACCORDANCE WITH PURPOSE

The appliance may only be used to heat and boil water. Never put milk, soup, coffee or tea, etc., into the kettle.

No liability is accepted for any damage resulting from use for other purposes, faulty operation or amateur repairs. Guarantee services are also excluded in such cases.

Before using the kettle for the first time, fill it up to the maximum level and boil at least two lots of water.

Rinse the kettle out with cold water each time between boiling up these two lots of water.

Method:

  • Adjust the required length of cable on the power base "g". Wind any cable not required onto the cable winder. Guide the cable through one of the three recesses (1).
  • Connect the power base "g" according to instructions (observe the safety instructions).
  • Put the appliance into operation (see "Putting into operation").

Filling with water

To open the lid, push the lid opener "b" forwards, the lid will snap up (2).

Note

The lid is opened with a spring mechanism. Ensure that the lid does not hit any part of the body.

  • Open the lid and fill the kettle while the lid is open (3).
  • Check the filling level on the water level gauge "d". Note the maximum filling level (4)!

Note

If the kettle was accidentally started empty, the safety cut-out will automatically switch it off. In this case you should remove the kettle from the power base and allow it to cool down for a few minutes. Make sure that the kettle has been filled with an adequate amount of water before using it again.

Switching on the kettle

  • Close the lid. The safety locking lid must lock into place (5).

Connect the power base to the mains and position the kettle on the power base (6).

Note

If the lid is not properly closed, the kettle will not shut off automatically. - Switch on the kettle at the ON/OFF switch "f" - the red heating control lamp "e" lights up (7).

Note

The ON/OFF switch only operates when the kettle is located on the power base.

Warning! Risk of scalding!

Never open or remove the lid during operation.

Switching off the kettle

  • The kettle switches off automatically when the water boils - the red heating control lamp "e" goes off (8). However, you can also switch the kettle off using the ON/OFF switch "f" at all times.

Note

The kettle also switches off automatically when it is removed from the power base.

  • Remove the kettle from the power base and pour out the hot water (9).

Note

As a result of its functioning, some water can condense out of the outlet openings in the base of the kettle and run out over the edge of the power base. This is normal and is perfectly harmless.

If the kettle is returned to the power base, any water left in it will only heat up if the kettle is switched on again.

6. REMOVE SCALE FILTER

Before removing the scale filter, first remove the kettle from the power base and allow it to cool down. Never remove the scale filter while the kettle is still hot or still full of water. Simply pull the scale filter upwards (10).

When replacing the filter, ensure that the scale filter is located properly in its guide (11). Press the scale filter down fully into the body.

Note

Never leave the scale filter loose in the kettle.

7. CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

  • Remove the kettle from the power base and allow it to cool down each time before cleaning. Disconnect the plug from the mains.
  • Never immerse the appliance or the power base in water and never use highly corrosive or abrasive cleaning agents.
  • Wipe out the kettle and power base with a damp cloth. Rinse out the inside of the

8. DE-SCALING

The kettle must be descaled regularly. At the latest, the kettle should be descaled when the time required to boil water is markedly longer or if it cuts out too soon while heating the water.

Method:

Fill the kettle up to the maximum filling level. Close the lid. The safety lid must click into place. Connect the power base to the mains and put the kettle on the power base.

Switch on the kettle. The kettle switches off automatically once it has boiled the water. Use any standard descaler (follow the instructions for use given by the maker).

Allow the de-scaling agent to take effect for at least 30 minutes. Afterwards, rinse out the appliance several times with clean water and then boil again with clean water which should then be poured away.

Repeat the process if the kettle is heavily scaled.

9. WASTE ELIMINATION

The materials used in the packaging, product and accessories can be recycled. Correct separation of waste materials will allow recyclable materials to be re-used.

When the appliance is no longer useful, you should cut its cord to put it out of action and dispose of it using a suitable waste elimination procedure. For further information on this matter, consult your local authorities.

  • Turn the tap to position "b" and press (2).
  • Fill the kettle with water (3). The water level should be between the maximum "max" and minimum "0.251" - "d" (4). Close the lid (5) and place the kettle on the base for connection. (6) Note: If the lid is not closed properly, the kettle will switch off automatically.
  • Switch on the kettle by pressing the I/O switch - "f". The indicator light "e" lights up (7). When the water boils, the kettle switches off automatically. The indicator light "e" goes out (8). You can also switch off the kettle at any time using the I/O switch - "f". Note: The kettle switches off automatically when it is lifted from the base. Lift the kettle from the base and pour out the hot water (9). Note: As a result of operation, some water may escape through the openings located at the base of the kettle and run down the base for connection. This is

normal and does not pose any danger.

To switch on again, wait about 30 seconds.

6. SAFETY

The electric kettle is equipped with a thermal safety device that interrupts the power supply if it runs dry. If this happens, the kettle switches off automatically. Switch it off at the socket, remove the kettle from the base and wait at least a few minutes to cool down.

7. CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Before cleaning the filter for impurities, first remove the kettle from the base and let it cool down. Do not remove the filter from the kettle while it is hot. To remove it, pull it upwards (10). Check it regularly for hard particles that may collect on it. Rinse the filter under running water and, if necessary, use a soft brush. - When replacing it, make sure it fits well into the slot (11). Insert it back into the kettle.

Note: Do not leave the filter loose in the kettle.

8. DESCALING

Depending on how hard the water is, limescale deposits may form on the inside of the kettle, which can affect the functioning of the electric kettle. If these deposits are not removed, they can affect the proper functioning of your appliance. These deposits can be removed with any descaling agent available on the market. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for use. - Repeat the descaling process if there is a lot of limescale in the kettle. Rinse the appliance several times with clean water. Then fill it with fresh water, which you must boil. Repeat these steps several times and then use the electric kettle again.

Choose the minimum length of cord needed to connect the appliance to the outlet and wind the excess cord into the recess at the base "g". Pass the cord through one of the grooves and plug into the outlet (1). - Open the lid by pulling the lid release button "b" forward (2). - Fill the kettle with water (3). The water level should be between the maximum mark "max" and the minimum level "0.25I" (0.25 L) "d" (4). Close the lid (5) and place the kettle on the base (6). Note: If the lid is not closed completely, the kettle will switch off automatically. Switch on the kettle by pressing the I/O button "f".
