Frequently Asked Questions - EWS-165 HAMA

How to install the Hama EWS-165 weather station?
Place the base station on a flat surface. Insert the batteries (3x AA) into the compartment. For the outdoor sensor, insert 2 AA batteries and place it outdoors sheltered from direct rain. The station synchronizes automatically.
What to do if the screen shows nothing?
Check that the batteries are correctly installed and in good condition. If the screen remains blank, replace the batteries with new ones. Ensure the outdoor sensor is powered on.
How to set the time manually?
The time synchronizes automatically via the DCF-77 signal. If necessary, press and hold the 'SET' button for 3 seconds, then adjust the time using the '+' and '-' buttons.
Why is the outdoor temperature not displayed?
Check that the outdoor sensor is on and within range (max 100 m). Move it away from metal obstacles. If the problem persists, reset the sensor by removing and reinserting the batteries.
How to change the batteries of the base station?
Open the battery compartment on the back of the device. Remove the old batteries and insert 3 new AA batteries respecting polarity. Close the cover.
Can the station be used without the outdoor sensor?
Yes, the station works as an indoor thermometer/hygrometer even without the outdoor sensor. However, outdoor data will not be displayed.
How to interpret the weather icons?
The icon indicates the trend: sun for stable, cloud for variable, rain for deterioration. Atmospheric pressure and its evolution help predict short-term weather.
Does the station display long-term forecasts?
No, forecasts are based on pressure variations of the last few hours. They are only valid for the next 12 to 24 hours.
How to clean the weather station?
Use a soft, dry cloth. Never use solvents or abrasive products. Avoid contact with water for electronic parts.
Where to find spare parts like the outdoor sensor?
Contact Hama customer service or visit their website. The outdoor sensor is usually available as a separate accessory.
