Danger -- Keep the adapter dry. Warning -- Check if the voltage indicated on the adapter corresponds to the local mains voltage before you connect the appliance. -- The adapter contains a transformer. Do not cut off the adapter to replace it with another plug, as this causes a hazardous situation. English

English Compliance with standards -- This appliance complies with the internationally approved IEC Safety regulations and can be safely cleaned under the tap. -- This Philips appliance complies with all standards regarding electromagnetic fields (EMF). If handled properly and according to the instructions in this user manual, the appliance is safe to use based on scientific evidence available today. Charging Standard charging takes approximately 10 hours. When the appliance is fully charged, it has an operating time of up to 35 minutes. Note: You can get 45 minutes of cordless operating time when the appliance is charged overnight for 16 hours. 1 Switch off the appliance before you charge it. 2 Insert the appliance plug into the appliance. 3 Put the adapter in the wall socket. ,, The charging light on the adapter goes on to indicate that the appliance is charging. Note:The charging light does not change colour and does not go out when the appliance is fully charged. Using the appliance Beard and stubble trimming When you trim your beard for the first time, be careful. Do not move the trimmer too fast. Make smooth and gentle movements. English
Beard trimming with beard comb 1 Place the trimmer onto the handle (1). Turn the trimmer clockwise to fix it (2). 2 Slide the beard comb into the guiding grooves on both sides of the handle. 3 Press the setting selector (1) and slide the comb to the desired hair length setting (2). You can choose any setting between 1 and 18mm. 4 Switch on the appliance. 5 Slowly move the trimmer against the hair growth direction. Press lightly and always make sure the surface of the comb is in full contact with the skin. Note:When you trim for the first time, start at the highest setting (18mm) to familiarise yourself with the appliance.
English Trimming your stubbles You can use the stubble comb to trim your stubbles. 1 Place the trimmer onto the handle (1). Turn the trimmer clockwise to fix it (2). 2 Slide the stubble comb into the guiding grooves on both sides of the handle. 3 Press the setting selector (1) and slide the comb to the desired hair length setting (2). You can choose any setting between 1 and 12mm. 4 Switch on the appliance. 5 Slowly move the trimmer against the hair growth direction. Press lightly and always make sure the surface of the comb is in full contact with the skin. Styling/contouring your beard You can use the precision trimmer to contour or cut shapes in beard hair. It cuts hair very close to the skin, at a length of 1mm. Caution: Be careful when you use the precision trimmer because it removes every hair it comes in contact with. English
2 To achieve a good cutting result, move the precision trimmer against the direction of hair growth. Always make sure the precision trimmer is in full contact with the skin. 3 Make careful and controlled movements with the precision trimmer. Tip: For the perfect finish, you can use the mini-foil shaver to make the edges and lines of your beard style even smoother. Trimming nose and ear hair Trimming nose hair 1 Place the nose/ear trimmer onto the handle (1). Turn the nose/ear trimmer clockwise to fix it (2). 2 Make sure your nostrils are clean. 3 Switch on the appliance and insert the tip of the trimmer into one of your nostrils. Do not insert the tip more than 0.5cm into your nostril. 4 Slowly move the tip in and out while turning it round at the same time to remove unwanted hair. To reduce the tickling effect, make sure that you press the side of the tip firmly against the skin.
English Trimming ear hair 1 Attach the nose/ear trimmer onto the handle. 2 Clean the outer ear channel. Make sure it is free from wax. 3 Switch on the appliance and move the tip softly round the ear to remove hairs that stick out beyond the rim of the ear. 4 Carefully insert the tip into the outer ear channel. Do not insert the tip more than 0.5cm into the ear channel as this could damage the eardrum. Cleaning Never use compressed air, scouring pads, abrasive cleaning agents or aggressive liquids such as petrol or acetone to clean the appliance. Always keep the adapter dry. Clean the appliance after each use. The appliance is waterproof therefore the handle, combs and attachments are easily cleaned under the tap. 1 Make sure the appliance is switched off and disconnected from the mains. 2 Remove any comb and/or attachment from the appliance. English 11 3 Blow and/or shake out any hair that has accumulated in the attachments and/or combs or use the cleaning brush. 4 Clean the attachments and the combs under a lukewarm tap and/or with the cleaning brush. 5 Clean the handle under a lukewarm tap and/or with the cleaning brush. Cleaning the mini-foil shaver 1 After each use, pull the top part of the mini-foil shaver off the bottom part. The shaving foil is very delicate. Handle it carefully. If the shaving foil is damaged, do not use the minifoil shaver anymore. Do not clean the shaving foil with the cleaning brush, as this may cause damage. 2 Blow and/or shake out any hair that has accumulated inside the mini-foil shaver. 3 Clean the top part of the mini-foil shaver under a lukewarm. Storage Store the handle, combs, attachments and adapter in the storage pouch supplied to prevent damage.

Only replace damaged or worn attachments or combs with original Philips replacement attachments or combs. Environment -- Do not throw away the appliance with the normal household waste at the end of its life, but hand it in at an official collection point for recycling. By doing this, you help to preserve the environment. -- The built-in rechargeable battery contains substances that may pollute the environment. Always remove the battery before you discard and hand in the appliance at an official collection point. Dispose of the battery at an official collection point for batteries. If you have trouble removing the battery, you can also take the appliance to a Philips service centre. The staff of this centre will remove the battery for you and will dispose of it in an environmentally safe way. English 13 Removing the rechargeable battery Only remove the rechargeable battery when you discard the appliance. Make sure the battery is completely empty when you remove it. Be careful, the battery strips and housing parts are very sharp. 1 Make sure the appliance is disconnected from the mains. 2 Remove the attachment. 3 Remove the on/off button of the appliance with a flathead screwdriver. 4 Remove the front panel of the appliance with a flathead screwdriver. 5 To pull out the inner, apply a tilting force in the indicated hole with a flathead screwdriver. Pull upward on the top cover. 6 Separate the inner and the tube. 7 Remove the on/off contact. 8 Unhook and remove the rest of the cover to expose the rechargeable battery. 9 Cut the wires to separate the rechargeable battery from the appliance.

Troubleshooting This chapter summarises the most common problems you could encounter with the appliance. English 15 Problem Possible cause Solution The beard comb does not stay attached to the handle. You do not attach the beard comb correctly. Slide the beard comb into the guiding grooves on both sides of the handle until you hear a click. The guiding grooves are dirty. Clean the appliance and the guiding grooves thoroughly. The comb is broken. Go to your Philips dealer or contact a Philips service centre to purchase a new comb. The appliance does not work anymore. The rechargeable battery is empty. Charge the appliance (see chapter ‘Charging’). Make sure you switch off the appliance before you charge it. During charging, the charging light on the adapter flashes. If the charging light does not flash, check whether there is a power failure or if the wall socket is live. If there is no power failure and the wall socket is live but the charging light still does not flash, take the appliance to your dealer or a Philips service centre. The appliance does not work when it is connected to the mains. Switch off the appliance and charge it The for 10 hours (see chapter ‘Charging’). appliance is not designed to work from the mains.
