- Never clean the air filter with petrol or flammable solvents.
ATTENTION
Risk of damage!
Operating the engine without a filter element or with a damaged filter element can cause engine damage.
- Never run the engine without the air filter element or with a damaged filter element. This would allow dirt into the engine, which would result in severe damage to the engine.
ATTENTION
Fouled air filters diminish the engine output due to reduced air supply to the carburettor. Regular inspection is therefore essential.
The air filter should be checked every 20 operating hours and cleaned as required.
- Remove the wing nut (6a) and remove the air filter cover (6).
- Check the air filter cover (6) for holes or cracks. Replace any damaged insert.
- Remove the air filter (6b).

-
Remove the air filter (6b). Check it for damage and replace it if necessary.
-
Knock the air filter (6b) against a hard surface to remove the dirt. Never try to brush the dirt out as this will press it into the fibres.
- If necessary, clean the air filter (6b) additionally in warm water and mild soap solution. Rinse it thoroughly with clean water and let it dry well.
- Reinsert the clean air filter (6b).
- Put on the air filter cover (6) and secure it with the wing nut (6a).
14.2.3 Cleaning / replacing the spark plug (7a) (Fig. 7)
ATTENTION
Only replace the spark plug when the engine is cold!
ATTENTION
A loose spark plug can overheat and cause damage to the engine. Tightening the spark plug too much can damage the thread in the cylinder head.
Check the spark plug for dirt for the first time after 20 operating hours and clean it with a copper wire brush if necessary. Then service the spark plug every 100 operating hours.
- Remove the spark plug (7a) with a spark plug wrench (10).
- Remove any dirt from the base of the spark plug (7a).
- Visually inspect the spark plug (7a). Remove any deposits present using a copper wire brush.

- Always clean the area around the fuel tank cap (2a) before filling to prevent dirt from falling into the fuel tank (2). Use a dry, lint-free cloth for this purpose.
- Turn the chain oil tank cap (2a) anti-clockwise and open it. The fuel filler cap (2a) is connected to an anti-loss device in the fuel tank (2).
- Remove the fuel filler cap (2a) by feeding the attached anti-loss device through the tank opening.
- Pull the fuel filter out through the tank opening using a wire hook.
- With light contamination:
Remove the fuel filter from the fuel line and clean the fuel filter in cleaning solvent. -
If heavily soiled:
Replace the fuel filter. -
To remove the fuel filter from the fuel line, squeeze the hose clamp and slide it down.
-
Remove the fuel filter from the fuel line.
14.2.6 Lubricating the transmission (9a) (Fig. 8)
Note:
Lubricate the gearbox every 100 operating hours. Only add a small amount of grease. Under no circumstances overfill!
