It includes important instructions for the safe, proper and economic operation of the product, for avoiding danger, for minimising repair costs and downtimes and for increasing the reliability and extending the service life of the product. 4. Proper use

The product is designed for chopping and tilling coarse soil and for working in fertiliser, peat and compost in domestic applications.

Do not work on slopes with a gradient of more than 10%. The product may only be used in the intended manner. Any use beyond this is improper. The user/operator, not the manufacturer, is responsible for damages or injuries of any type resulting from this.

An element of the intended use is also the observance of the safety instructions, the assembly instructions and the operating information in the operating manual. Persons who operate and maintain the product must be familiar with the manual and must be informed about potential dangers.

The liability of the manufacturer and resulting damages are excluded in the event of modifications of the product. Despite use as intended, specific risk factors cannot be entirely eliminated.

Please note that our products were not designed with the intention of use for commercial or industrial purposes. We assume no guarantee if the product is used in commercial or industrial applications, or for equivalent work.

General safety instructions

⚠ WARNING! Read all safety warnings, instructions, illustrations and specifications provided with this product. Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury.

Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.

General safety regulations

Familiarise yourself with your product.

The user manual and the markings on the product must be both read and understood.

Learn how and for which purposes the product is used. Deal with the potential hazards of the product.

Learn how to control and operate the product correctly. Learn how to rapidly bring the product and controls to a stop or shut them down.

All instructions and safety notes in the separate accompanying user manual must be read and understood. Do not attempt to operate the product until you have a thorough understanding of how to operate and maintain the motor and how to avoid accidental injury and/or damage to property.

Safety at the workplace

1. Never start or run the motor indoors. The exhaust gases are dangerous and contain carbon monoxide, an odourless and poisonous gas. Only operate this product in a well-ventilated outdoor area.

2. Never operate the product if there is inadequate visibility or light.

3. Never operate the product on steep inclines.

4. Always work in a horizontal line to the ground, never from top to bottom.

Personal safety

1. Never operate the product when under the influence of drugs, alcohol or other medicines which may affect your ability to use the product properly.

2. Wear appropriate clothing. Wear long trousers, boots and gloves. Do not wear loose clothing, shorts or any type of jewellery. Tie long hair up at shoulder length. Always keep hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose-fitting clothing, jewellery or long hair may become caught in the moving parts.

3. Wear protective equipment. Always wear eye protection.

4. Protective equipment, such as dust protection masks, safety helmets or hearing protection, which are used in relevant conditions, reduce personal injury.

5. Check the product prior to starting it. Do not remove separating protective devices and keep them in good condition. Ensure that all nuts, bolts, etc. are tight.

6. Never operate the product if it requires repair or if its mechanics are damaged.

7. Replace damaged, missing or non-functional parts prior to using the product. Check leak-tightness. Maintain safe working conditions for the product.

8. Under no circumstances should protective devices be tampered with. Regularly check their functionality.

9. The product must not be used if it cannot be switched on or off using the motor switch. Products running on fuel that cannot be controlled using the engine switch are hazardous and must be replaced.

10. Regularly check that spanners have been removed from the product before starting. Personal injury can result from a spanner left on a rotating part.

11. Keep alert and use common sense when operating the product.

12. Do not bend too far when working. Do not operate the product barefoot or with sandals or similar light footwear. Wear safety shoes that protect your feet and improve your grip on slippery surfaces.

13. Always maintain a firm stance and balance. This allows the product to be more easily controlled in unexpected situations.

14. Avoid unintentional start-up. Ensure that the motor is switched off prior to transporting the product or carrying out maintenance or servicing work on the product.

15. Transporting the product or carrying out maintenance or servicing work on the product while the motor is running can lead to accidents.

Safe handling of operating materials

1. Fuel is highly flammable and its vapours can explode if ignited. Take appropriate measures when using fuel so as to reduce the risk of serious personal injury.

2. Remain in a clean, well-ventilated outdoor area when filling or draining the tank and use an approved fuel collection container.

3. Smoking prohibited. Avoid ignition sparks, open flames or any other source of ignition in the vicinity of the area when filling fuel or operating the product. Never fill the tank when inside the building.

4. To avoid sparking or arcing, keep earthed conductive objects, such as tools, away from unprotected live electrical parts and connections. They may ignite fumes or vapours.

5. Always switch off the motor and allow it to cool down before refilling the tank. Do not remove the cap from the tank or fill up with fuel while the engine is running or warm. Never operate the product if the fuel system is leaking.

6. Slightly open the cap of the tank to release pressure in the tank.

7. Do not overfill the tank (to approx. 1.5 cm below the filler neck for space in the event of fuel expanding due to heat generated by the motor).

8. Replace the caps of the tank and the container securely and wipe up any spilled fuel. Never operate the product if the tank cover is not attached.

9. Avoid sources of ignition in case of spilled fuel. Do not try to start the motor if fuel has been spilled. Instead, remove the product from the affected area and avoid sources of ignition until the vapours from the fuel have dissipated.

10. Store fuel in specially made containers that have been approved for this purpose.

11. Store fuel in a cool, well-ventilated location away from sparks, open flames or other sources of ignition.

12. Never store fuel or the product containing a tank filled with fuel in a building where exhaust fumes could come into contact with ignition sparks, open flames or any other ignition source, such as water heaters, ovens, dryers or similar. Allow the motor to cool down before placing it in a housing.

Notes on use and care of the product

1. Do not lift or carry the product when the motor is running.

2. Do not operate the product with force.

3. Use the right product for your application. Using the right product will do the job in a better and safer way.

4. Do not change the motor speed regulator settings and do not run the motor at too high a speed. The speed regulator controls the maximum operating speed deemed safe for the motor.

5. Do not run the motor fast if the ground is not being worked.

6. Only guide the product at walking pace.

7. Take particular care when reversing the product or pulling it towards you.

8. Do not place your hands or feet near rotating parts.

9. Avoid contact with hot fuel, oil, exhaust fumes and hot surfaces. Do not touch the motor or the silencer. These parts become extremely hot during operation. They also remain hot for a short time after the product has been switched off. Allow the motor to cool down before carrying out maintenance or adjustment work.

10. If the product starts to make unusual noises or vibrate abnormally, immediately switch off the engine, disconnect the ignition cable and find the cause. Unusual noises or vibrations are generally a warning sign.

11. Only use connections and accessories that have been approved by the manufacturer. Failure to comply with this requirement may result in personal injury.

12. To prevent an imbalance, worn out or damaged work tools and bolts may only be replaced in sets.

13. Service the product. Check whether any parts in motion are misaligned or blocked. Check parts for breakage or check to see if there is any other condition that might affect the operation of the product. Have the product repaired before use if it is damaged. Many accidents occur due to inadequately serviced equipment.

14. Clear the motor and silencer of grass, leaves, excessive grease or built-up carbon to reduce the risk of fire.

15. Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Cutting tools with sharp cutting edges that have been properly maintained are less likely to jam and are easier to control.

16. Never pour or splash water or any other liquid on the product. Keep handlebars dry, clean and free of deposits. Clean after each use.

17. Adhere to laws and regulations concerning the proper disposal of fuel, oil, etc., in order to protect the environment.

18. Keep the product out of the reach of children when not in use and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the product or these instructions to operate the product. The product is dangerous in the hands of untrained users.

19. For safety reasons, the fuel tank and fuel cap must be replaced (regularly). To do this, contact a specialist workshop.
20. Have damaged exhaust silencers replaced by a specialist workshop.

Corrective maintenance instructions

Switch off the motor prior to cleaning, repairing, inspecting or adjusting the product and ensure that all parts in motion have been stopped. Disconnect the ignition cable and position the cable away from the spark plug in order to prevent accidental starting.

Have the product repaired by qualified personnel using only original spare parts.

This ensures that the safety of the product is maintained.

Special safety regulations for petrol motor hoes

1. Carefully check the soil to be worked and remove debris and hard or sharp objects such as stones, sticks, glass, wire, bones or similar.
2. Do not operate the petrol motor hoe on soils with large stones or foreign objects that could damage the product.
3. Do not work over buried electric cables, telephone lines, water and gas pipes, tubes or hoses. If in doubt, contact the utility company or local telephone provider to locate buried service lines.
4. Bystanders, children and animals must keep a minimum distance of 23 m. Stop the product immediately if a person approaches.
5. Adapt your working method to the local conditions and the product's performance.
6. This product is equipped with a clutch. Press the clutch lever and check that it automatically returns to its initial position. If this is not the case, the product must be re-set by qualified personnel.
7. Disengage the clutch before starting the engine.
8. Carefully start the engine in accordance with the instructions. Position feet at an appropriate distance from the rotavator cutters.

9. The rotavator cutters do not move when the clutch is disengaged. If this is not the case, the product must be re-set by qualified personnel.

10. Always operate the product from behind. Never walk or stand in front of the product when the engine is running.

11. Always hold the product with both hands during operation. Hold the handlebars firmly.
12. Be aware that the product may unexpectedly jump up or forward if the rotavator cutters encounter buried obstacles such as large stones, roots or tree stumps.
13. If the product hits a foreign object, stop the engine, disconnect the spark plug, check the product for any damage and repair the damage before restarting and operating the product.
14. Exercise extreme caution when working backwards or pulling the product towards you.
15. Do not overload the capacity of the product by working too deep or too fast in one go.
16. Never operate the petrol motor hoe at excessive transport speeds on hard or slippery surfaces.
17. Proceed with caution when working on hard ground. The rotavator cutters can get stuck in the ground and propel the petrol motor hoe forward. If this is the case, release the handlebars and do not hold the product.
18. Exercise caution when working near fences, buildings or buried service lines. The rotating rotavator cutters can cause damage to property or personal injury.
19. Exercise extreme caution when working on or over gravel driveways, paths or roads. Watch out for unseen hazards and traffic. Do not carry passengers.
20. Never leave the working position when the engine is running.
21. Always stop the engine if work is delayed or you are moving from one working location to the next.
22. Keep the product clean of plants and other materials. They can get caught in the rotavator cutters. Stop the engine and disconnect the spark plug before cleaning the rotavator cutters.

Repairs

Only use manufacturer's recommended accessories and replacement parts.

If the product should fail despite our quality controls and your maintenance, only allow an authorised specialist workshop to carry out repairs.

Residual risks

Even when the product is being used properly, there will always be certain residual hazards that cannot be completely ruled out.

The following potential hazards can arise due to the type and design of the product:

• Ejection of parts of the material being cut
• Damage to hearing if the stipulated hearing protection is not worn
• Inhalation of exhaust gases

⚠ Warning! This product generates an electromagnetic field during operation. This field can impair active or passive medical implants under certain circumstances. In order to prevent the risk of serious or deadly injuries, we recommend that persons with medical implants consult with their physician and the manufacturer of the medical implant prior to operating the product.

ATTENTION: The vibration value during use may differ from the specified value depending on the circumstances.

The safety measures to protect the operator are based on the estimated exposure under normal operating conditions (taking into account all cycles of use, for example, when the product is switched off, when it is idle or in use).

Keep the noise level and vibration to a minimum!

• Only use faultless products.
• Maintain and clean the product at regular intervals.
• Adapt your working methods to the product.
• Do not overload the product.
• Have the product checked if necessary.
• Switch the product off if it is not in use.
• Wear gloves.

⚠ Warning!

In case of extended working periods, the operating personnel may suffer circulatory disturbances in their hands (vibration white finger) due to vibrations.

Raynaud's syndrome is a vascular disease that causes the small blood vessels on the fingers and toes to cramp in spasms. The affected areas are no longer supplied with sufficient blood and therefore appear extremely pale. The frequent use of vibrating products can cause nerve damage in people whose circulation is impaired (e.g. smokers, diabetics).

If you notice unusual adverse effects, stop working immediately and seek medical advice.

Observe the following information to reduce hazards:

• Keep your body and especially your hands warm in cold weather.
  • Take regular breaks and move your hands to promote circulation.
• Ensure as little vibration as possible of the product via regular maintenance and stable parts on the product.

7. Unpacking

• Open the packaging and carefully remove the product.
• Remove the packaging material, as well as the packaging and transport safety devices (if present). Use the 5 mm Allen key (D) for this.
• Check whether the scope of delivery is complete.

• Check the product and accessory parts for transport damage. In the event of complaints the carrier must be informed immediately. Later claims will not be recognised.

• Familiarise yourself with the product by means of the operating manual before using for the first time.

• With accessories as well as wearing parts and replacement parts use only original parts. Spare parts can be obtained from your specialist dealer.
• When ordering please provide our article number as well as type and year of manufacture for the product.

⚠️ DANGER!

The product and the packaging material are not children's toys! Do not let children play with plastic bags, films or small parts! There is a danger of choking or suffocating!

8. Assembly

⚠ WARNING!

Danger of injury and damage!

The use of incorrect spare parts and accessories can lead to injuries and damage. These could come loose and be flung away. They can also reduce the power of the product.

• Only use original spare parts and accessories from the manufacturer. Original spare parts or accessories can be obtained from your specialist dealer.
• Failure to do so may reduce the power of the product and parts may come loose.
• Failure to observe this will invalidate the manufacturer's warranty.

Note:

Due to the heavy weight of the product, we recommend installation by at least two people.

Tool required:

• Open-ended spanner, size 8
• Open-ended spanner, size 10
  • 2x Open-ended spanner, 13 AF
• Needle nose pliers*

*Not included in the scope of delivery!

8.1 Fitting blades (11 + 11b) (Fig. 2 + 3)

1. Slide the blade (left) (11) onto the shaft.
2. Repeat the process on the opposite side with the blade (right) (11b).

3. Insert the pin (31) and the split pin (32) through the holes in the cutter shaft and secure it against slipping out.

4. If you are not using a blade extension, slide the blade guard(12) onto the shaft on both sides and ensure that the holes match.

5. Insert the hex screw (35) through the holes in the cutter shafts and secure it with the washer (36) and nut (37).

8.2 Fitting the (left + right) blade extensions (11a + 11c) (Fig. 2 + 3)

1. Slide the blade extension (left) (11a) into the pre-mounted blade (left) (11) such that the edge of the blade faces the front of the product.
2. Align the holes.
3. Screw the blade (left) (11) to the blade extension (left) (11a). Use the M8 x 45 mm hex bolt (35), the washer (36) and the M8 hex nut (37), as well as two 13 mm open-end spanners.
4. Repeat the process on the other side with the blade (right) (11b) and the blade extension (right) (11c).
5. Then fit the blade guard (12).
6. Insert the M8 x 45 mm hex bolt (35) through the holes in the cutter shafts and secure it with the washer (36) and the M8 hex nut (37).
7. Repeat the process on the opposite side.

⚠ WARNING! When mounting the blades, make sure that they rotate in the correct direction.

The blades are not symmetrical and thus cannot be swapped from right to left. The blades must be mounted in the correct direction of rotation.

8.3 Fitting the transport wheel (25) (Fig. 4)

1. Loosen the pin (25b) and the pre-assembled screw (25a) from the wheel mounting. Note: Remove the locking wire from the hole in the screw before loosening the nut.
2. Place the transport wheel (25) on the wheel mounting, paying attention to the holes.
3. Fasten the transport wheel (25) with the previously loosened screw (25a) and the pin (25b).
4. Secure the screw (25a) again with the locking wire after you have fitted the nut.
5. Secure the transport wheel (25) against slipping out using the split pin (25c).

8.4 Fit mudguard extensions (9 + 17) (Fig. 5 - 7)

1. Insert the vibration dampers (40) into the existing slotted holes in the mudguard extensions. Fit the mudguard extensions (9 +18) onto the mudguards already in place from above.
2. Align the holes.
3. Fasten the mudguard extensions (9 + 18) with the three M6 x 16 mm (38) collared hex screws and the M6 collared hex nuts (39). Use an 8 mm open-end spanner and a 10 mm open-end spanner for this.
4. Repeat the process on the opposite side.
5. Finally, align the strut (10) for the mudguard extensions with the two outer holes and screw them together using the M6 x 16 mm collared hex bolts (38) and the M6 collared hex nuts (39). Use an 8 mm open-end spanner and a 10 mm open-end spanner for this.

8.5 Mounting the gear selection lever (5) (Fig. 8)

1. Push the rubber grip (5a) onto the gear selection lever (5).
2. Slide the gear selector lever (5) through the opening on the switch plate.
3. First attach the gear selector lever (5) to the gear shift linkage using a bolt (31) and a split pin (32). In addition, a bolt (31) must be inserted below the opening of the shift plate. Note: Use needle-nose pliers* to insert the split pin (32).

8.6 Mounting the belt cover (7) (Fig. 9)

1. Fit the belt cover (7) using the holes provided.
2. Fit the belt cover (7) using the two M5 collared hex screws (7a). Use an 8 mm open-ended spanner for this.

8.7 Fitting the depth stop (6) (Fig. 10 - 11)

1. Insert the bracket (depth stop) (8) into the mounting.
2. Fix the bracket with the pin for the bracket (depth stop) (29) and the split pin (30).
3. Insert the depth stop (6) from below into the hole in the frame up to the lower stop.
4. Secure the depth stop (6) with a pin (33) and a split pin (34).

8.8 Fitting the wheels (27) (Fig. 12 + 13)

Note:

Use the wheels (27) for further transport or when using additional accessories (such as a furrow attachment, plough or potato harvester).

The blades (left + right) (11 + 11b) and the blade extensions (left + right) (11a + 11c) must be removed before the wheels (27) can be fitted.

The valve must be on the outside of the wheel (27). Pay attention to the running direction of the wheels.

1. Fit the wheel (27) onto the wheel axle (28).
2. Bolt the wheel axle (28) with the M10 x 25 mm hex bolts (28a), the spring washers (28b) and the M10 hex nuts (28c).
3. Align the wheel (27) until the holes on the wheel hub and axle are aligned.
4. Insert the pin (31) into the centre hole of the wheel shaft and the drive shaft and then insert the split pin (32).
5. Repeat the process on the other side.

9. Before commissioning

ATTENTION!

Always make sure the product is fully assembled before commissioning!

- Fill with petrol and oil before commissioning. The product is supplied without engine and gearbox oil.

Spilled oil can pollute the environment permanently. The liquid is highly toxic and can quickly lead to water pollution.

• Fill/empty oil only on level, paved surfaces.
• Use a filling nozzle or funnel.
• Collect drained oil in a suitable container.

- Wipe up spilled oil carefully immediately and dispose of the cloth according to local regulations.

- Dispose of oil as per local regulations.

NOTE!

Risk of damage!

If incorrectly stored or undrained fuel is used, the carburettor may become clogged or engine operation may be affected.

- Put unused fuel in an airtight vessel and store it in a dark, cool room.

Check before operation

• Check all sides of the engine for oil or fuel leaks.
• Check the engine oil level.
• Check the fuel level – the fuel tank (21) should be at least half-full.
• Check the air filter condition (see section 14.2).
• Check the condition of the fuel lines.
• Make sure that the spark plug connector is attached to the spark plug.
• Look for signs of damage.
• Check that all protective covers are in place and all screws, nuts and bolts are tightened.

9.1 Filling up with gearbox oil (Fig. 1)

⚠ Attention!

The petrol motor hoe is delivered without gearbox oil. Therefore, ensure that you add oil before starting it up. Use multigrade oil (SAE 15W-40) for this.

An oil level that is too low can damage the gearbox.

1. Place the petrol motor hoe on a level, even surface.
2. Unscrew the gearbox oil filling screw (17).
3. Fill the tank with oil using a funnel*. Note the max. filling capacity of 1 litres. Carefully fill the oil up to the lower edge of the filling port.
4. Screw the gearbox oil filling screw (17) back in.

9.2 Filling up with engine oil (Fig. 1)

⚠ Attention!

The petrol motor hoe is delivered without engine oil. Therefore, ensure that you add oil before starting it up. Use multigrade oil (SAE 15W-40) for this.

Check the oil level regularly before commissioning. An oil level that is too low can damage the engine.

1. Place the petrol motor hoe on a level, even surface.

2. Unscrew the oil filler plug with oil dipstick (23).

3. Fill the tank with engine oil using a funnel*. Note the max. filling capacity of 600 ml. Carefully fill the oil up to the lower edge of the filling port.

4. Wipe the oil filler plug and the oil dipstick (23) with a clean, lint-free cloth.
5. Reinsert the oil filler plug and oil dipstick (23) and check the oil level without screwing the dipstick tight again.
6. The oil level must be within the middle mark on the oil dipstick.
7. If the oil level is too low, add the recommended amount of oil (max. 600 ml).
8. Then screw the oil filler plug with oil dipstick (23) back in.

9.3 Fill the air filter housing with oil (Fig. 14)

Use oil type SAE 10W-30 /10W-40 for this. Only fill the oil into the container provided for this purpose.

1. Loosen the wing nut (20a) on the air filter cover (20).
2. Remove the air filter cover (20).
3. Fill the container with oil up to the mark.
4. Now refit the air filter cover (20) with the wing nut (20a).

9.4 Filling up with petrol (Fig. 1)

⚠️ DANGER!

Risk of fire and explosion!

When filling, fuel may ignite and even explode. This can lead to severe burns or death.

• Switch off the engine and let it cool down.
• Keep heat, flames and sparks away.
• Only fill up with fuel outdoors.
• Wear protective gloves.
• Avoid contact with skin and eyes.
• Start the product at a distance of at least 3 m from the fuel filling point.
• Watch out for leaks. If petrol is leaking, do not start the engine.

⚠ Attention!

The petrol motor hoe is delivered without petrol. It is therefore essential to fill with petrol before commissioning. Use Super E10 petrol for this.

1. Clean the area surrounding the filling area. Impurities in the tank lead to operational faults.
2. Carefully open the tank cover so that any possible overpressure can be relieved.

3. Fill the fuel tank (21) with petrol using a funnel*. Note the max. filling capacity of 3.6 l. Fill the petrol up to the lower edge of the filling nozzle carefully.

4. Close the fuel filler cap again. Ensure that the fuel cap is tightly sealed.

5. Clean the fuel cap and the surroundings.
6. Check the fuel tank (21) and fuel lines for leaks.
7. Move at least three meters away from the refueling area before starting the engine.

10. Operation

10.1 Transport wheel (25) (Fig. 1)

Fold the transport wheel (25) up when working with the petrol motor hoe.

Fold the Transport wheel (25) down when transporting the petrol motor hoe. During transport, tilt the product forwards so that the rotavator cutters no longer touch the ground.

You can pull or push the petrol motor hoe to the next location.

For further transport, we recommend fitting the wheels (27) (see 9.8).

When transporting:

1. Remove the pin (25b) and the split pin (25c) and fold the transport wheel (25) downwards.
2. Place the transport wheel (25) in the front wheel holder and secure it with the pin (25b) and the split pin (25c).

When carrying out work:

1. Remove the pin (25b) and the split pin (25c) and pull the transport wheel (25) upwards.
2. Insert the pin (25b) into the lower hole of the transport wheel (25) and secure it with the split pin (25c).

10.2 Depth stop (6)

⚠️ CAUTION! Stop the engine and wait until the blades have come to a complete stop before adjusting the depth stop (6)!

The working depth is set with the depth stop (6). It supports the operator in regulating the direction and speed of the petrol motor hoe.

The petrol motor hoe is slowed down and the working depth increased when the depth setting is lowered.

The speed is increased and the working depth reduced when the depth setting is increased. (Fig. 11)

10.3 Adjusting the working depth (Fig. 11):

1. Remove the pin (33) and the split pin (34) from the depth stop (6).

2. Move the depth setting to the desired position.

3. Fix the depth setting with the pin (33) and the split pin (34).

For heavy soils (depth 100 mm or more), remove the depth stop (6) and let the blades work to a depth of 100 mm by moving them slightly forwards and backwards. Slowly pull the petrol motor hoe backwards and let the soil slide forward over the blades.

10.4 On/Off switch (14) (Fig. 1)

The ON/OFF switch (14) activates or deactivates the ignition system. The ON/OFF switch (14) must be in the ON position to be able to start the engine. The engine stops when the ON/OFF switch (14) is moved to the OFF position.

10.5 Gear selector lever (5) (Fig. 1)

You can use the gear selector lever (5) to choose between reverse gear (-1), neutral (0) and two forward gears (2 and 1).

Set the required gear using the gear selector lever (5). ATTENTION! Release the clutch lever (1) before changing the gear.

Note:

• Change gear only when stationary.
• Never change gear on a slope.

10.6 Cold start (Fig. 1)

ATTENTION! Set the gear selection lever to "0". If the gear selection lever is set to 1 or 2, the engine accelerates, thereby rotating the cutters of the product with a risk of accidents or injuries. Never wrap the cable cord around your hand.

ATTENTION! Release the clutch lever (1) before changing the gear.

1. Set the transport wheel (25) in the top position.
2. Set the gear selection lever (5) to "0".
3. Cold engine: Set the choke lever (16) to the "open" position.
4. Open the fuel valve (15).
5. Set the ON/OFF switch (14) to ON.
6. Set the throttle lever (13) to half throttle (i.e. half open position).
7. Pull strongly on the pull starter (22) and let it wind back in slowly. Do not let the pull starter (22) snap back. If necessary, pull the pull starter (22) several times until the engine starts.

8. Let the engine warm up for a few seconds.

9. Once the engine is running, slowly close the choke lever (16).

10. Set the required gear using the gear selector lever (5).
11. Get a good grip on the two handles (2) using both hands.
12. Set the throttle lever (13) to full throttle (Hare).
13. Push the clutch lever (1) down. The blades are started as a result and the motor hoe moves forward.

NOTE!

Restarting an engine that is already warm from previous operation does not normally require the use of the choke.

10.7 Warm start (Fig. 1)

Warm engine: Do not use the choke (16), make sure it is closed.

1. Set the throttle lever (13) to half throttle (i.e. half open position).
2. Set the ON/OFF switch (14) to ON.
3. Open the fuel valve (15).
4. Pull strongly on the pull starter (22) and let it wind back in slowly. Do not let the pull starter (22) snap back. If necessary, pull the pull starter (22) several times until the engine starts.
5. Set the throttle lever (13) to full throttle (Hare).

ATTENTION: Do not tilt the product excessively! Oil can leak or get into the carburettor, combustion chamber etc. and damage the product! Exceptions are oil changes or maintenance work! If the product has to be tilted for maintenance, cleaning or repair work, it must always be tilted so that the spark plug points upwards.

10.8 Switching off (fig. 1)

1. Release the clutch lever (1) to stop the blades and the drive.
2. Set the throttle lever (13) to half throttle (i.e. half open position).
3. Set the ON/OFF switch (14) to OFF.

11. Soil cultivation

⚠ Attention! Only guide the product at walking pace. Take particular care when reversing the product or pulling it towards you.

11.1 Soil tilling

Tilling involves turning over and digging up soil and preparing it for the seedbed.

The optimum working depth is between 100 mm and 150 mm. A petrol motor hoe also removes unwanted plants from the soil.

The decomposition of these plant components enriches the soil.

Soil that is too dry and decays to dust and thus does not absorb water should not be tilled.

- For this reason, water for a few days before tilling.

Soil that is too wet produces undesirable lumps when tilling.

- For this reason, wait a day or two after heavy rainfall to allow the soil to dry out.

- A properly tilled area that is used immediately after tilling promotes plant growth because moisture is retained in the soil.

- The actual working depth is determined by the soil type and working conditions. For certain soils, one pass is sufficient to achieve the desired depth. With other soils, the desired depth is only achieved after two or three passes. In this case, the depth setting should be lowered again before each pass. The passes should be carried out alternately lengthwise and widthwise.

• Do not try to work the soil too deep in the first pass. If the product jumps or jerks, the product should be driven over the ground a little faster.
• If the petrol motor hoe stops and digs in one place, move the handlebar back and forth until the product moves forward again.
  • Excavated stones should be removed.

⚠ WARNING! If you should encounter a foreign object, the product must be stopped immediately, the spark plug cap removed and the petrol motor hoe checked for any damage. Do not restart the product until you are sure that everything is working properly.

11.2 Loosening of soils

CAUTION! If the ground is too hard, it must be broken up before tilling to avoid damaging the blade or other components of the product.

Tilling involves loosening or digging in areas where plants are growing to remove weeds and loosen the soil. The optimum working depth is less than 50 mm.

12. Transport

⚠ WARNING!

Danger of injury!

Unintended and unexpected start-up of the product may lead to injuries.

- Before loading the product, switch off the engine and, after the engine has cooled down, remove the spark plug connector from the spark plug.

- The product can cause severe crushing injuries due to its own weight.

- Allow the engine to cool down before transporting or loading to avoid burns and to prevent fire hazards.

- When transporting over longer distances, drain the fuel tank completely.

- Hold the petrol motor hoe firmly by the two handles (2) and tilt it forwards until the product rests on the transport wheel (25) (see also section 11.1). Pull or push the petrol motor hoe slowly (walking pace). On smooth and even ground the product should be pushed, on bumpy ground it is better to pull it.

• Fit the wheels (27) for pushing over longer distances.

- Secure the product on the transport vehicle against rolling, slipping or tipping over.

- Ensure that the product does not bump into obstacles during transport or that obstacles can fall on the product. Do not place any objects on the product or lean anything against the product.

13. Cleaning and maintenance

⚠ WARNING!

Danger of injury and burning!

The product can start unexpectedly and cause injuries. In addition, temperatures of 80^ C and more can be reached.

- Switch off the motor before carrying out any cleaning or maintenance work.

- Allow the motor to cool down.

- Disconnect the spark plug connector from the spark plug.

Inhaling petrol/lubricant vapours may lead to severe health damage, loss of consciousness and, in extreme cases, to death.

- Do not inhale petrol/lubricant vapours.

- Operate the product outdoors only.

NOTE!

Risk of damage!

Water entering the housing can cause engine damages. In addition, the jet of a high-pressure cleaner can damage parts of the product.

- Clean the product with a cloth, hand brush, etc.

- Do not immerse the product in water or other liquids and do not spray it with a high-pressure cleaner.

13.1 Changing the engine oil (fig. 1)

The engine oil change should be carried out while the motor is at operating temperature and switched off.

Only use engine oil (SAE 15W-40).

1. Place the petrol motor hoe on a level, even surface.

2. Place a suitable collection container under the oil drain screw (24).

3. Use an open-end spanner size 10 mm to open the oil drain screw (24) and drain the engine oil.

4. After you have drained the engine oil completely, fit the oil drain screw (24) again.
5. Now unscrew the oil filler plug with oil dipstick (23) anti-clockwise.
6. Fill up with fresh engine oil and check the oil level (see 10.1). Use a funnel* for this.
7. Then screw the oil filler plug with oil dipstick (23) back in clockwise.

13.2 Changing the gearbox oil (Fig. 13)

The gearbox oil change should be carried out while the motor is at operating temperature and switched off. Only use oil (SAE 15W-40).

1. Place the petrol motor hoe on a level, even surface.
2. Place a suitable collection container under the gearbox oil drain screw (17a).
3. Open the gearbox oil drain screw (17a) to drain the gearbox oil.
4. After you have drained the gearbox oil completely, fit the gearbox oil drain screw (17a) again.
5. Now unscrew the gearbox oil filling screw (17) anti-clockwise.
6. Top up with fresh gear oil (see 10.1). Use a funnel* for this.
7. Screw the gearbox oil filling screw (17) back in.

13.3 Air filter maintenance (20) (Fig. 1)

⚠️ DANGER!

Risk of fire and explosion!

If not cleaned correctly, fuel may ignite and even explode. This can lead to severe burns or death.

• Clean the air filter only by knocking out or blowing out with compressed air.
• Never clean the air filter with petrol or flammable solvents.

NOTE!

Risk of damage!

Operating the engine without the filter element in place can cause engine damage.

- Never run the engine without the air filter element in place.

A fouled air filter insert diminishes the engine output due to reduced air supply to the carburettor. Regular inspection is therefore essential.

The air filter should be checked every 50 operating hours and cleaned as required.

1. Open the wing nut (20a) of the air filter cover (20) to open it.
2. Check the air filter cover (20) for holes or cracks. Replace any damaged insert.
3. Wipe off dirt on the inside of the filter housing with a clean moist cloth. Make sure that no direct enters the opening.
4. Remove the filter element. Check it for damage and replace it if necessary.
5. Blow out the filter element thoroughly with compressed air.
6. Top up the oil in the air filter housing if necessary. (see 10.3).
7. Reinsert the clean filter element and screw the air filter cover (20) with the wing nut (20a).

13.4 Clean/replace the spark plug

ATTENTION!

Only replace the spark plug when the engine is cold!

Check the spark plug for contamination for the first time after 10 operating hours and clean it with a copper wire brush if necessary.

Thereafter, replace the spark plug every 100 operating hours or if necessary.

1. Disconnect the spark plug connector and remove any dirt in the spark plug area.
2. Unscrew the spark plug with the supplied spark plug wrench (C) and check it.
3. Check the insulation. Replace the spark plug if it is damaged, e.g. cracked or fragmented.
4. Clean the spark plug electrodes with a wire brush.
5. Check the electrode gap and adjust it using a feeler gauge. To make sure that the engine remains efficient, the spark plug must have the right electrode gap (0.7 - 0.8 mm).
6. Screw the spark plug back in by hand and tighten it about 1/4 turn with the spark plug wrench (C).
7. Connect the spark plug connector to the spark plug.

ATTENTION!

A loose spark plug can overheat and cause damage to the engine. If you tighten the spark plug too much, the thread in the cylinder head may be damaged.

13.5 Pump out petrol with a petrol extraction pump

The petrol must be drained in the event of storage over a longer period of time or for transport.

⚠ WARNING!

Health hazard!

Inhalation of petrol/lubricating oil vapours and exhaust gases can cause serious damage to health, unconsciousness and in extreme cases death.

- Do not breathe petrol/lubricating oil vapours and exhaust gases.

- Empty out fuel only outdoors.

1. Hold a collection bucket under the hose of the petrol extraction pump (not included in the scope of delivery).
2. Unscrew and remove the fuel tank filler cap.
3. Push the hose of the petrol extraction pump into the fuel tank (21) and pump out the petrol completely using the petrol extraction pump.
4. Retighten the fuel tank filler cap.

13.6 Adjusting the clutch

The clutch play changes with the wear of the clutch. To enable proper operation, the clutch cable must be adjusted.

1. Set the clutch lever (1) to the original position using the adjuster.
2. To do this, tighten the counternut with a 10 mm open-ended spanner until the clutch engages properly again.

13.7 V-belt tension and V-belt replacement

To do this, contact a specialist workshop.

14. Storage

⚠️ DANGER!

Risk of fire and explosion!

Storing the product near potential sources of ignition can result in a fire or an explosion. This can lead to severe burns or death.

- Eliminate possible sources of ignition, such as furnaces, hot water boilers with gas, gas dryers, etc.

NOTE!

Risk of damage!

If the product is not stored properly, the engine can be damaged.

- Store the product protected against dirt, dust and moisture.

14.1 Storage during extended breaks in operation: If the petrol motor hoe will not be used for a period of more than 30 days, the following measures must be taken to prepare your petrol motor hoe for storage.

1. Empty the fuel tank completely (see section 14.4). Stored petrol containing ethanol or MTBE becomes stale within 30 days. Stale petrol has a high rubber content and can thus clog the carburettor and restrict the petrol supply.

2. Start the engine and let it run until it stops. This ensures that no petrol remains in the carburettor. This prevents deposits from forming in the carburettor and potentially damaging the engine.

3. Drain the engine oil from the engine while it is still warm. Fill with new oil (see section 14.1.).

4. Allow the engine to cool down. Remove the spark plug and fill 30 ml of good quality engine oil into the cylinder. Pull the starter rope (22) slowly to distribute the oil. Replace the spark plug.

△ ATTENTION! Remove the spark plug and drain all the oil from the cylinder before restarting the product after storage.

1. Use a clean cloth to clean the outside of the petrol motor hoe and remove any dirt from the ventilation slots.

△ ATTENTION! Do not use aggressive detergents or mineral oil-based cleaning agents to clean plastic parts. Chemicals can damage plastics.

1. Check for loosened or damaged parts. Repair or replace damaged parts and tighten loosened screws and nuts.

2. Remove the blades. Clean the blades and grease them to prevent rusting. Refit the blades.

3. Lightly grease the wheel axles. Grease the throttle cable and all visible moving parts. Do not dismantle the engine cover.

4. Store the petrol motor hoe in an upright position in a clean, dry building with good ventilation.

△ ATTENTION! Do not store the petrol motor hoe whilst still filled with fuel in an unventilated place where fuel vapours may come into contact with sparks, signal lamps or other sources of ignition. Use only approved fuel tanks.

Store the product and its accessories in a dark, dry and frost-free place that is inaccessible to children. The optimum storage temperature is between 5 and 30°C.

Store the product in its original packaging.

Cover the product to protect it from dust or moisture.

Store the operating manual with the product.

15. Disposal and recycling

Notes for packaging

The packaging materials are recyclable. Please dispose of packaging in an environmentally friendly manner.

You can find out how to dispose of the disused product from your local authority or city administration.

Fuels and oils

- Before disposing of the product, the fuel tank and the engine oil tank must be emptied!

- Fuel and engine oil do not belong in household waste or drains, but must be collected or disposed of separately!

- Empty oil and fuel tanks must be disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner.
