③ Focus ring ⑩ Electrical contacts
④ Zoom lock switch ⑪ Tripod mount
⑤ Mount index ⑫ Strapeyelet
⑥ Tripod mount lock screw
⑬ Tripod mount foot L-Fnbuttons

Zoom ring
Zoom by rotating the zoom ring or holding the front (a) of the lens and moving it forward or backward.
8 EN
Focus mode switch
Switches between AF/MF.
Focus limiter switch
Sets the range of the photographing distance. Focusing is done within the range that is set.
L-Fn buttons
Pressing any of the L-Fn buttons suspends the autofocus operation and locks focus. Other roles can be assigned using camera controls.
The selected role is performed by all three buttons.
IS switch
Turn image stabilization (IS) on or off.
ON: Stabilizing functions in the lens and camera operate. The IS operates according to the IS setting in the camera.
OFF: Stabilizing functions in both the lens and camera are off.
Zoom lock switch
Use the zoom lock switch to lock the zoom ring or control the resistance during zoom operation.
L: Lock the zoom ring. While the zoom ring is rotated to the wide end (150 mm), the zoom
lock switch can be slid to the "L" position. Do not force the zoom operation while the zoom ring is locked.
T: The zoom operation offers greater resistance than usual, which prevents the front of the lens from moving back and forth unintentionally. If you have difficulty sliding the zoom lock switch to the "T" position, rotating the zoom ring slightly may smooth the sliding operation.
S: The zoom operation offers normal resistance.
Attaching and Storing the Hood (Fig. 1) The hood can be attached on the lens in reverse direction when storing.
Attaching the Strap (Fig. 2)
Using the Tripod Mount (Fig. 3)
1 Loosen the tripod mount lock screw (①).
2 Rotate the lens as desired (②). • There are indices positioned every 90° around the lens for guides to estimate positioning.
3 Tighten the tripod mount lock screw (③). The tripod mount and tripod mount foot cannot be removed.
Notes on Shooting
- Edges of pictures may be cut off if more than one filter is used or if a thick filter is used.
- When using a flash, flash light may be blocked by the lens body, lens hood, etc.
• Usage conditions may lower the number of images that can be captured. - Be sure to support the lens while it is attached to the camera. Supporting only the camera could result in damage to the lens mount or cause the lens to fall. It could also adversely affect splashproof and optical performance.
- When carrying the camera with the lens attached, use a strap attached to the lens, not the strap attached to the camera.
- When using a tripod, attach the tripod to the lens tripod mount, not to the camera.
- Do not touch electric contacts on cameras.
Maintenance
Blow dust off the lens with a commercially available blower. For the lens, wipe gently with a lens cleaning paper. Mold may form on the lens surface if the lens is left dirty.
