GB Instructions for use
FR Mode d'emploi
Before using the appliance, read the instructions carefully and keep them for future reference. The appliance may only be used by persons who are familiar with the safety instructions.
Important safety instructions
The appliance is intended for use indoors and in protected outdoor areas only.
- The grill must only be connected to a properly installed earthed socket and operated with a residual current device (RCD) with a tripping current of no more than 30mA .
Make sure that the supply voltage corresponds with the voltage marked on the rating label.
The power cord should be regularly examined for any signs of damage. In the event of such damage being found, the appliance must no longer be used.
In order to comply with safety regulations and to avoid hazards, repairs of electrical appliances must be carried out by qualified personnel, including the replacement of the power cord. If repairs are needed, please contact our customer service department by phone or email (see service addresses in the separate warranty booklet or at www.severin.de).
The appliance is not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or separate remote-control system.

Warning! Never use charcoal or any other solid or liquid fuel to operate the grill.

Attention! Never cover the grill plate with aluminium foil, barbecue dishes or other items, as the resulting heat build-up could cause irreparable damage to the grill!
- Do not put liquids in the grill.
Warning! This symbol indicates that the grill plate and heating element temperature can get very hot during use. Risk of burns! Therefore, always allow the grill to cool down completely before moving, cleaning or stowing it away.
Before cleaning, pull out the mains plug and allow the grill to cool down. - For electrical safety reasons, the main unit with the control element and the connecting cable must not be treated with liquids or immersed in them.

Remove the grill plate from the appliance after use and clean it with rinsing water. Ensure the grill plate is perfectly dry before resuming grill operation.

This appliance is intended for domestic or similar applications, such as -

This appliance may be used by children (at least 8 years of age) and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lacking experience and knowledge, provided they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance and fully understand all dangers and safety precautions involved.
Children must not be permitted to play with the appliance. - Children must not be permitted to carry out any cleaning or maintenance work on the appliance unless they are supervised and at least 8 years of age.
- The appliance and its power cord must be kept well away from children under 8 at all times.
- Caution: Keep any packaging materials well away from children – these are a potential source of danger, e.g. of suffocation.
- Before the appliance is used, the main body as well as any attachment fitted should be checked thoroughly for any defects. Should the appliance, for instance, have been dropped onto a hard surface, it must no longer be used: even invisible damage may have adverse effects on the operational safety of the appliance. In this case, please contact our customer service.
- During operation, the grill must be placed on a level, heat-resistant surface, impervious to splashes and stains. When grilling food with a high fat or moisture content, splashes are not always avoidable.
- Do not position the grill next to a wall or corner, and ensure that no inflammable materials are stored near it.

- Do not operate the appliance in the vicinity of combustible materials, as this can cause greasy food to catch fire.

Before using the appliance, ensure the grill plate and fat collection tray are properly installed in the main unit.

Do not allow the power cord to touch any hot parts of the appliance.

Always remove the plug from the wall socket - after use,

When removing the plug from the wall socket, never pull on the power cord; always grip the plug itself.
- The use of an extension-lead reel/extension cable causes a loss of power, possibly combined with a subsequent heat build-up in the cable. It is therefore necessary to unwind the cable completely from the reel.
- When not in use, the grill must be stored in a dry indoor area. It must not be stored outdoors or in any other location where it might be exposed to extreme temperatures or high humidity.
- No responsibility is accepted if damage results from improper use, or if these instructions are not complied with.
- This product complies with all binding CE labelling directives.
Intended Use
- The appliance is intended solely for grilling food such as meat, fish, seafood, fruit and vegetables.
- Warning! Any other use not stated in the instructions (misuse) is considered as not intended and can cause severe personal injury or damage to the appliance.
- Only use the appliance under supervision.

Before using for the first time
- Remove all promotional stickers and packaging materials from the grill plate. Never remove the nameplate!
- Clean the grill plates and the two-piece draft shield, as described in the "Cleaning and Care" section, and dry them thoroughly.
- Wipe all other parts with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly.
Grill assembly
- Before assembly, check that all parts are complete under the section Overview and parts included.
- Insert the grease drip tray into the main unit from the front.

Fit the grill plates onto the main unit one after the other:

Ensure that the notches for the draft shield are at the back or outside of the plate.
- Position the plate such that the pins on the underside of the grill plates engage in the guide rails in the centre of the main unit.
- Firmly press the plate down on the outside until it clicks into place.
- Check that the grill plate is securely fitted.
- Slide the two-piece draft shield into the guides on the grill plates.
Heating-up for the first time

Let the grill heat up, as described in the section Grilling, without any food for about 10 minutes at maximum power. This will remove the smell typically encountered when first switching on a grill. A little smoke may be emitted; this is quite normal, but ensure there is adequate ventilation by opening windows or balcony doors.

Clean the grill plates and the two-piece draft shield again, as described under Cleaning and Care.
Grilling
- Place the grill on a level, heat-resistant surface, impervious to splashes and stains. When grilling food with a high fat or moisture content, splashes are not always avoidable.
- Check that the grill has been correctly assembled.
- Apply a light coat of high-heat-resistant oil to the grill plate if necessary.
- Insert the plug into a suitable earthed power outlet. The indicator lights on the temperature controller will light up white briefly.
- Set the controller of the control element to position 5.
- The indicator light shows red, and the grill plate heats up. Once the required temperature has been reached, the indicator light turns white.
- Let the appliance heat up for about 10 minutes.
- Place the food on the grill plate.
- Avoid cutting on the grill plate and using metal kitchen utensils when placing and removing the food in order not to scratch the grill plate.
- The temperature can be adjusted as necessary, up or down, with the controller.
- The fat in the collection tray should be checked regularly and emptied as necessary.
Once the grilling process is finished:
- Set the controller back to position OFF.
- Remove the plug from the power outlet.
- Allow the grill to cool down.
Cleaning and care
- Ensure that the grill is thoroughly cleaned after use.
- Before cleaning, disconnect the barbecue grill from the mains and let it cool down.
- Do not use metallic pads, steel wool or abrasive cleaning agents for cleaning.
- Remove the grease drip tray and empty it.
- Pull the two-piece draft shield upwards.
- Press the release buttons on either side of the appliance and remove the grill plates by pulling them upwards.
- Clean the grill plate, draft shield and grease drip tray with warm rinsing water. If necessary, allow encrustations to moisten and soak.
- Let all parts dry thoroughly. Ensure that all parts are perfectly dry before resuming grill operation.
- For electrical safety reasons, the main unit with connecting cable must not be treated with liquids or immersed in them. If necessary, use a slightly damp cloth for cleaning. Wipe thoroughly dry afterwards.
- Never clean the individual parts in the dishwasher.
