Before using the appliance, read the following instructions carefully and keep this manual for future reference. The appliance must only be used by those familiar with these instructions.
Connection to the mains supply
The appliance should only be connected to an earthed socket installed in accordance with the regulations. Make sure that the supply voltage corresponds with the voltage marked on the rating label of the appliance. This product complies with all binding CE directives on labelling.

Important safety instructions
- In order to avoid hazards, repairs to this electrical appliance or its power cord must be carried out by our customer service. If repairs are needed, please send the appliance to our customer service department (see our service addresses in the separate warranty booklet or on www.severin.de).
- Before cleaning the appliance, ensure it is disconnected from the power supply and has cooled down completely.
• To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not clean the appliance with water and do not immerse it in water. - Rinse the grill plates in clean water and dry them thoroughly before fitting.
- For more information on
cleaning, please refer to the “Cleaning and Care” section.
- The appliance is not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or separate remote-control system.
Caution! Contact surfaces can be very hot during and after cooking. Only touch the appliance by the handle and use suitable potholders if necessary. - Let the appliance cool down completely before cleaning, transporting or stowing it away.
- This appliance is intended for domestic or similar applications, such as
- in kitchens for employees in stores, offices and other similar work environments,
- in agricultural areas,
- by guests in hotels, motels and other similar living environments, - in bed-and breakfast type environments.
- This appliance may be used by children (at least 8 years of age) and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lacking experience and knowledge, provided they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance and fully understand all dangers and safety precautions involved.
• Children must not be permitted to play with the appliance.
• Children must not be permitted to carry out any cleaning or maintenance work on the appliance
unless they are supervised and at least 8 years of age.
- The appliance and its power cord must be kept well away from children under 8 at all times.
- Caution: Keep any packaging materials well away from children – such materials are a potential source of danger, e.g. of suffocation.
- Every time the appliance is used, the main body including the power cord as well as any attachment fitted should be checked thoroughly for any defects. Should the appliance, for instance, have been dropped onto a hard surface, or if excessive force has been used to pull the power cord, it must no longer be used: even invisible damage may have adverse effects on the operational safety of the appliance.
- The appliance must not be used outdoors.
- Do not allow the housing or the power cord to touch hot surfaces (E.g. cooker hotplates) or come into contact with any other heat sources.
- Never use the contact grill without both grill plates and the grease drip tray in place.
- During operation, the appliance must be placed on a heat-resistant surface, impervious to splashes and stains. When cooking food with a high fat or moisture content, splashes are not always avoidable.
• Always switch off and remove the plug from the wall socket
- after use,
- in cases of malfunction, and
-
during cleaning.

When removing the plug from the wall socket, never pull on the power cord; always grip the plug itself.
- Never touch the mains plug with wet hands..
- Do not use the handle to carry the appliance.
- No responsibility is accepted if damage results from improper use, or if these instructions are not complied with.
Intended Use
- The appliance is intended solely for grilling food, such as meat, fish and vegetables.
- Only use the appliance with the grill plates supplied.
- Any other use not mentioned in the instructions is considered improper use and could result in serious injury or damage to the appliance.
Fitting and removing the grill plates
- Open up the appliance (see Operation/Table grill).
- Fit the grill plates so that the black angles on the appliance engage in the recesses on the grill plates.
- Press the grill plates down until you hear them click into place.
- To release the grill plates, press the buttons on the appliance when it has cooled down and remove the grill plates.
Before using for the first time
- Clean the grill plates with a damp, lint-free cloth and wipe dry afterwards.
- Close the unit.
- Plug the power cord into the power outlet.
- Press the ⏻ on/off switch to switch on the appliance. The fan starts to run.
- Use the control knob to select the manual grilling function (see Control panel/Operation).
- Let the appliance heat up for about 15 minutes without food to allow any unpleasant odour to dissipate (the appliance may smoke slightly; therefore, ensure adequate ventilation by opening windows or balcony doors).
- Let the appliance cool down.
- Clean the grill plates again with a damp, lint-free cloth and wipe dry afterwards.
Control panel
Use the control panel to switch on the appliance, select a function and activate it. The display shows the cooking progress.

Tips!
- Press and hold the OK button for about 3 seconds to interrupt the selected functions or cooking at any time.
- Always ensure that the grease drip tray is in place and empty it regularly during operation.
- The non-stick-coated grill plates only need to be lightly greased at the beginning.
- Never use pointed or sharp objects to remove food from the grill plates to avoid damaging their non-stick coating.
- After cooking, unplug the contact grill from the power outlet and let it cool down with the grill surfaces closed.
Table grill
- Lift the lid slightly and firmly press the release button on the right hinge side. Then open the lid completely.
- Plug the power cord into the power outlet.
- Press the! on/off switch to switch on the appliance. The fan starts to run.
- You can only select manual grilling when using the appliance as a table grill.
- The blue indicator lights up briefly on the display.
- Press the OK button. The appliance is now warming up. PRE-HEATING lights up on the control panel.
- When the grill plates are heated up, you will hear beeps, and display indications will light up alternately.
- Then place the food on the grill and cook it as you wish.
• After cooking, switch off the appliance.
Contact grill
- Close the appliance.
- Plug the power cord into the power outlet.
- Press the 📁 on/off switch to switch on the appliance. The fan starts to run.
- Use the control knob to select the desired function (see table). The selected function lights up blue.
- Press the OK button. The appliance is now warming up. PRE-HEATING lights up on the control panel.
- When the grill plates are heated up, you will hear beeps and START TO COOK will light up on the display.

Then open the lid and place the food on the grill plates.

The appliance will measure the thickness of the food and determine the cooking time.
- RARE, MEDIUM and WELL DONE light up based on the cooking progress.
- When cooking is over, you will hear beeps. Then open the lid and remove the food. The appliance switches off.
- When grilling food in manual mode, you will hear no beeps during the cooking process. The symbols on the control panel light up alternately and you must switch off the appliance after cooking.
TIP!
When preparing beef, you will hear beeps after each cooking stage (RARE, MEDIUM, WELL DONE). Remove the meat when the desired doneness is reached.
General care and cleaning
- Before cleaning the appliance, remove the plug from the wall socket and make sure that the grill has cooled down completely with the plates closed.
- To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not clean the appliance with water and do not immerse it in water.
- The outside of the grill may be cleaned with a soft damp cloth only. Wipe dry with a dry cloth afterwards.
- You can remove the grill plates for easy cleaning (see Fitting and removing the grill plates).
Clean the plates in warm soapy water; dry thoroughly afterwards.
Replace the plates in the unit after cleaning. Ensure that the recesses on the plates engage on the brackets on the unit.
- You can rinse the grease drip tray in clean water or clean it in the dishwasher (on the top rack).
Disposal

Devices marked with this symbol must be disposed of separately from your household waste, as they contain valuable materials which can be recycled. Proper disposal protects the environment and human health. Your local authority or retailer can provide information on the matter.
